- both protagonists are high school students
- both protagonists have very toxic family relationships
- both stories revolve around teenagers who try all sorts of illegal things to get money
- both stories touch on societal issues and mental health (tw: violence, bullying, self harm)

but, extracurricular is a show while young adult matters is a movie. and, their motives for illegally getting money are different from each other.

similar colour grading

Young Adult Matters and All About Lily Chou Chou are movies similar in many regards. The most obvious example is the themes evident throughout the entirety of the movie. Both movies share the plot of adolescents growing up in a unfit world. Littered with drugs, bullying, betrayal and extreme amounts of violence. However, in the midst of these there are themes of friendship. Other than the themes, there is an obvious correlation with the look of the two, their colour grading. With dark scenes that contrast to extreme light scenes, for example: the entirety of Lily Chou Chou contrasts with the scene of him standing within the grass. To conclude, the points mentioned are how Young Adult Matters relates to All About Lily Chou Chou.

It's also about young girls problems, school bullying involved as well. It kinda gives similar vibes but Young Adult Matters is kinda more brutal i guess? Actually just give a try to both of them, you will not regret it.

Both talk about adolescence problems, in a violent and gore style. The World of Kanako will be a little more hard to watch, in my opinion, since they show more details, but overall they are both great movies.

In both theres a group of runaways, also consisting of two guys and two girls who are close. Things dont really go ideally though... other than that both show sisterhood a little (young adult matters abit more so), there are lgbtq characters and the main character isnt really mentally stable and developments in the story take a toll on them. The endings are rather ambiguous too. Park Kang Sub plays a character in both as well.
