11 mysteries, 11 actors. Japan's favorite mystery author, the world of Higashino Keigo comes to life on screen through an assortment of short stories. For every episode, there will be a different lead actor and story, it's themes varying from mystery to comedy to horror to human drama. Nakai Kiichi is the navigator as he takes you on a journey through each episode, seasoned with Higashino's authentic spices, failing your assumptions with vivid story composition and an even bigger betrayal before the finale. (Source: Fuji TV) ~~ Adapted from the short stories "Hannin no Inai Satsujin no Yoru" (犯人のいない殺人の夜 ), "Ayashii Hitobito" (怪しい人びと) and "Ano Koro no Dareka" (あの頃の誰か) by "Higashino Keigo" (東野圭吾) Edit Translation

WARNING: For those who are planning to watch this, you may find it BORING because it has a dark atmosphere that devours throughout the series. But rest assured, "dark atmosphere" doesn't mean it's not good. Perhaps it's not good vibes for the heart, no?

"THOU SHALT NOT VEX A STRANGER"

These words keeps echoing on my mind as I'm watching this while having a cup of coffee in the middle of the night. Actually, it's good to watch this in a dark room filled with silence at night. I'm not scaring you, I'm just setting up a good way to have a momentum so that you'll be able to enjoy it at the very least because.. it does sounds like an "Edgar Allan Poe" to it if you've already watch or read some of his works. If not, then if you've already encountered a dark series somewhere.

Some of episodes may be a bit too draggy but full of surprises at the end of each story. There may be some good or bad but the tension between emotion and reason extend its influence beyond those protagonists. Eventhough "SUSPECT" is already obvious, it's really an unpredictable twist that keeps you thinking what they've done or ask yourself this:

"Did your 'Detective Intuition' tell you that?" :D

Darkest tangle that leads you to a World of Dark Tales. Some of its OST is good as if it's breaking the silence and some are not that good. This drama is dark and measured, it often illustrates people to dramatic event that explore the darkness of human interaction.

And.. again, I'm not forcing you to watch this one and I can understand why it has low ratings in Japan though those actors didn't manage to save their sinking ship but I highly recommend you watch some of its episode I've seen that good so far. This may be pointlessly obscure or ridiculously mystical but it deserves a good ratings in other way or somehow.. I think so. :)

Being quite a big fan of Japanese mystery comics (Meitantei Conan) and novels (namely, Higashino!), I really enjoyed this anthology series! True, a coupla episodes are only so-and-so imho (#3,4,7), but several others are absolutely brilliant (#1,2,5,6,8,11), and the average quality is therefore pretty damn good imho. The frame story being played for a few seconds before and after each episode and reaching the climax at the end of the series is also enjoyable (making constant fun of mystery tropes in a very fast-paced and minimal way - kind of like a 4-koma manga, if you know what I mean - adds some nice comic relief). A well-deserved "8", as far as I'm concerned! ;)
