A permanent tattoo of your destiny's name in your body? Where do I sign in?

The context of being permanently marked with the name of your destiny is both terrifying and exciting. Terrifying in a sense that you are forever trapped in a tie with a person you supposedly destined to be, what if that person is not who you think it is? what if his a serial killer or someone you would never thought you would end up with. scary but there is still an exciting side to it, knowing that out there someone is waiting for you. Someone perfectly matched for you, to be your partner for the rest of your life.

Story (8/10)

The premise of the story is sooooo good and reading the synopsis, it got me hooked. The premise of the "nameverse", where your destined is permanently etched in your body was good and both Yoo Jae Ha and Jung Ji Woo's character is like the cherry on top. Their story is unique and funny and so was Sae Rom and Sung min's story. It was cute that he thought she was a boy, even I could see that she was a girl but hey, that's what the writer wanted it, not gonna argue (lol)

It wasn't exactly an extravagant drama since it was a web series but sometimes web series has better content than 16-20 episode dramas and this just proves that.

Acting/cast (7/10)

Love the casting for this except for Yoo Jae Ha which was played by B1A4 Gongchan. Don't get me wrong I LOVE B1A4, love me some beautiful target and baby good night but I just wished it was played by a different actor. Personally, I think he was too stiff and robotic (don't hate, its a personal opinion) but hey nobody is perfect in their first times right? aside from that, everybody is great.

Music (8/10)

OSTs are not really my cup of tea and I don't often notice them. BGM's were really cute as expected in romcom kdramas or webseries.

Rewatch Value (7/10)

hhmm.. I can watch it again since i love the idea for the "nameverse" but to be honest? I don't feel like watching again after 3 times. But this is definitely one of those, you have to watch even if just once.

Short and fun, but...

This was overall a fun watch! I really love these type of AU shows and the premise of this one is super interesting.

Considering the premise though, I wish they had been brave enough to be a little more unconventional than just making it a mistaken-gender drama. The main leads could have gone through the entire falling-in-love and questioning-my-sexuality process without the soulmate AU. And that's why I sort of had second lead syndrome too, because I just felt like it would've been a much cooler plot and it would've made use of the soulmate AU if the character had to "go against their destiny" for real. Also, just as a person I pick longtime friends-to-lovers over everything else 99% of the time.

For this reason I also felt myself more invested in the second ship: two people who were unnamed in a world full of named people. Two people who had to find their own love while everyone else's was written out for them. They honestly had a more bantery relationship and I liked how outspoken Sae Rom was.

Overall though I did like the little life lessons — like Reply 1988 anything about getting off your butt and taking action to not miss your timing really hits home for me.

My biggest takeaway about this drama was how short it was. Playlist often likes to release these small stories which leave you wanting more but they're taken as that, short stories. You shouldn't expect a full plot or concrete ending but it is a fun journey watching the drama.

The two part drama focused mainly on the intricacy of a world where your soulmate's name is engraved somewhere on your body. There are that that are unnamed, and that that are named. As Jae Ha faces a crisis about his sexuality slightly, as he mistakes Ji Woo for a guy, the depth of the story grows beyond gender. To me, the main focus was Jae Ha realizing that even if Ji Woo was a guy, he still fell for her regardless of her gender after overcoming that initial fear. It was a nice touch to the story as it also added a comedic factory since Ji Woo is actually a girl. Their initial encounter is quite memorable as it shows how in a world where most people know the names of the soulmates, it doesn't mean that love comes right away for some people. Jae Ha mistook Ji Woo for a guy and thus had this self identity crisis on his sexuality. Ji Woo thought Jae Ha was and then wasn't her soulmate, but still began to realize that even if he wasn't, she still liked him. You throw in Han Kyul for confusion and comedic factor, and its a complete short drama for me.

The drama portrayed the struggles of being named and unnamed, the duality of knowing and actually feeling. Was this drama perfect? No.

However, I think as a short drama to watch on a day inside, it's a cute little story to add to your list.

This has been, Dear My Name.

S/N: Stan B1A4. Jinyoung and Gongchan are becoming my favorite actors as of late. BANA for life.

I loved this sort kdrama! It was such a lovely and romantic series! This was fun watch! Dear my name is a drama, where the story is lovable and cute, but he execution of the story is totally unique. We can learn a lot from it as well. Also I laughed a lot during the whole drama. They filled the whole series with love and humor and other else what we need. haha The scenes and the filming locations was so pretty and designed pretty well. I loved it! I loved their humor omg! AND THE ACTORS! OMG I totALLY loved them! They matched together omo! Global playlist know what they do, and they did a good job again! I'm really happy to be able to watched it! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

The awesome idea could be better developed

It started in a good way. The idea of this drama is very interesting, but it lacks depth.

STORY - Destiny as a name randomly written on the skin is an interesting story. The problem is that it was not treated as such, just a premise to a love story.

CAST - I think they did a great job. Good acting for me, even with characters that we still do not know nothing...

MUSIC - I do not recall any of the songs, so it wasn't memorable.

REWATCH - even if it's a short drama, knowing the ending is a killer for me. The characters, the side stories, etc are not good, so i will never watch this again.

OVERALL - a nice short drama to spend some time. And that is all. Do not understand the confusion about the gender...

Good for a Miniseries, Poor for a Drama

As a miniseries, this show stacks up pretty well against its contemporaries (excluding some notable exceptions, i.e. Splash Splash Love), but in comparison to "real shows" it's mediocre at best. I'm not trying to hate on miniseries, but they typically have lower budgets, and therefor lower production values and untested talent. They also have to develop an engaging story which fits into a comparatively tiny runtime. Luckily, this show has good chemistry between the leads, a solid premise, and steady romantic progression to hold itself together.

Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends, because first and foremost what I thought coming out of this drama was... that's it? Barely anything happened. And not for lack of time; the show was even slow paced! Don't get me wrong, it's better than the series which move so quickly you feel like you put your head in a blender, but I wish there was just a single plotline outside of romance to build conflict and push the story forward. Instead, it felt like they were just dinking around with no apparent stakes or goals. There's a reason many romcoms have pressure from the parents or any number of other external forces to generate momentum in the plot, and that sort of clear progression was what was missing from this drama. Also, the fantasy element had no apparent influence on the plot or the worldbuilding, it was mostly just a detail that the characters noted from time to time. But, other than that, I had no problems with it. It was just meh. Unless you're really bored, I don't recommend this drama.

Good Enough

" Dear my name " had an ambisious story to tell, and they made it work.

Somehow, in this short drama, the story and whole universe of "being named" was smoothly unfolded and fitted perfectly along the lines of the romance. They even made a love triangle and a second characters romance. However, even though the main love story is cute and the two leads have chemistry, which helps a lot, the whole trop about him not knowing that she is a girl is a bit idiotic. And it lasted too long for it to be believable.

Still, the drama, overall, is a fun ride. It has its cute moments and the leading lady is adorable.

So, seven out of ten.

A web drama worth watching

Honestly I wish this was a full length kdrama they could have done even more with this storyline.

Fantasy is my favourite genre but I’ve always been picky and pedantic with what shows I actually choose to watch and I’m SO happy I watched this.

Story
My all time favourite trope in a fantasy drama is FATE and SOULMATES. People who are destined to be together, meant to be together written in the stars, overcoming hurdles to be with one another, nothing gets any better. So after finding this web drama about your soulmates name suddenly appears on you one day along with a cliche trope of misunderstanding of genders I knew I had found a gem.

Acting
The acting was good I don’t really have anything special to say.

My only complaint would be I wish it was longer or they had a season 2!

This is a short web drama set in a world similar to ours where at any point in one’s life, one’s soulmate’s name is written on one’s body. The name of the FL’s soulmate appeared on her lower arm when she was in high school. She is now a junior in college and has failed thus far to locate her soulmate. She meets a new transferred photography student and approaches him thinking he’s her soulmate. But he denies it and shows her his blank arms. He initially denies it (her name is written across his heart) because he thinks the FL is a male and is just in shock. The ML tries to deny his attraction, but the more he gets to know the FL (still thinking she’s a male) the more he likes her. So, he decides that no matter her gender, he is going to confess his feelings and tells the FL about her name on his body. Of course, he eventually finds out her gender. The story has an interesting premise beyond the usual young romantic love and take on the gender-bender theme. We can delve into deeper philosophical questions: Does being named take away a person’s free will? What happens if you fall in love unnamed but later gets named? Will you stay with the love you have chosen or will you choose to find your named soulmate? For a short web series, the characters are fleshed out well, the story/plot is intriguing, and the young actors acted well and have great chemistry with each other.

An impactful lesson-filled short story

"Dear My Name" (2019) was a 6-episode web series for 10 minutes each which was later re-released as a 2-episode show. However, do not get distracted by it, not every good story has to be long just as how short stories can be as awesome as novels, "Dear My Name" was as awesome as any other full-length TV drama.

The acting was simple and the production and direction captured the spirit of the plot. A story about soulmates, liking each other, rejection, moving on, courage to confess, and having the freedom to choose who we want to spend our lives with. Having presented these "stages of relationships" in a total of one hour tells us the talent of the actors, actresses, the writer, and the director.

Could it have been done longer? Sure. But it won't be as perfect as what it is with its current format.

Dear my drama

...(/^-^(^ ^*)/.................................................................................
