Good God, this was one of the best dramas I've watched--this coming from someone who hardly watches/slightly dislikes Chinese dramas in the first place. This is mainly due to my distaste for bad CGI and occasionally tacky martial arts, but all is forgiven for Chinese Paladin 3.

Story: While it's your standard normal-guy-turns-hero-to-save-the-world tale, each character's history and individual story arcs are noteworthy. This drama is very character-driven, which makes for very passionate touching scenes, but also very whimsical humorous scenes. Be prepared to laugh and cry with the entire cast. I repeat: Laugh. Cry.

I'm a sap so I might be the only person to cry, but the brotherhood, loyalty, and romance in this drama had me in tears. The number of reincarnations takes a little getting used to, though. There may only be a few characters, but there will be twice as many names...

Acting/Cast: This is my first time watching Hu Ge in action, and I now understand why he's so popular. It's not just because he's fairly good looking, but because he can ACT. How 'bout that? Not only that, I feel that the entire cast was picked well. They all fit their roles, and executed them so nicely...

Music: Just one sentence: I watched the drama because I came across the soundtrack. (One more sentence: With a soundtrack that good, there's no way CP3 would be bad.)

Rewatch Value: Not that high, because at some points it feels elongated. Fight scenes get lengthy, serious talks get stretched out, misunderstandings between characters wastes some time...But I'd rewatch it if it meant I got to skim through all those things.

Overall: Some characters and their respective arcs get a little too much attention, while others hardly get the screen time they deserve, so I'm a little sad about that, but within that short time you really get to appreciate their character. The slightly-weird CGI may be an initial turn-off, but stick with it and you won't be disappointed.

PS: There may be some plotholes that make you scream "YOU IDIOT, JUST ____ ALREADY!" but thinking that won't change things (unfortunately), so take the plot as it is. It was based off a video game so you might have to give it a little slack when it comes to patching up plotholes... =_=;

At first I watched this drama for Wallace Huo and Tang Yan, but I ended up loving all of the main characters. This drama was my first wuxia, so I didn't know what I had to expect.

Story: The story is about Jing Tian, who is destined to rescue the world. Together with a noisy girl named Xue Jian (yes, in my opinion she is very noisy), the priest Chanqing, the mysterious girl Long Kui (If you read the synopsis on dramawiki.com, then you will know who she is, if you can't wait) and his companion MaoMao he searches for the solution to rescue the world. During the journey they are learning about their past lives and become friends. They have to fight against many enemys to get what they need and sometimes the solution has to do with one of themselves.

Acting: Hu Ge is a excellent Actor, I knew it, before I began this drama. Honestly, I like his character (Jing Tian). He reminds me of Naruto Uzumaki. Jing Tian is is full of joy, he talks very much and he is proud to be named as the hero. Hu Ge plays the role very well, but I hope I can watch him as a serious character next time.
This drama is my 3rd with Wallace Huo. I watched him in two dramas in two different periods, so it was my first ancient. (The other two were set in the II.WW and in the modern era). I think he is excellent when he plays serious roles, but I want to see him in a lesser serious role. His role is a priest who learns about his two past lives because he can't remember them.
Yang Mi acts as the noisy Xuie Jian. She was a character I didn't liked at first, but after...15 Episodes she wasn't very annoyoing anymore. I don't know any of her other dramas. Although she did a very great job, I think she was the least convincing castmember.
Liu Shi Shi (Long Kui) was good, but her character was so mysterious that she was so suspect. I think she LSS did a great job, although the last drama I watched with her, I didn't watched til the end.
Last but not least Tang Yan, who plays Zi Xuan a woman who plays a 200 year old who is also mysterious (and idiotic v.v). She gets on my nerves. Tang Yan plays her very well, but her character was so ... I can't get over one of the scenes v.v I don't know why, you have to watch it for yourself, but please, have a big staying power.
The supporting Characters were okay, but not special.

Music: I love the music. My favourite Songs are Pian Ai by Chang Yun Jing and the ending Song by Hu Ge. Pian Ai is played in special moments and most of the time it suits them.

Rewatch Value: I think I won't watch it again in the near future. The reason isn't that I don't like the drama, it is a situation in the drama I want to forget.

I can't get over the ending v.v Now I know what other watchers meant when they said Wuxia and HE are not very common v.v

First of all this is an amazing show.
Characters development are pretty good, however the female lead is so annoying she is literally straight out dumb. Like everything in this was good except for the female lead she was bratty and so obnoxious, only cares for herself.
Other than that every other character are so selfless. Mao Mao and Long Kui are the most self less character, they both would do anything for others mostly the main lead.
Oh also the second otp are cute together but weirdly their story/past lives were somewhat annoying how it basically repeats itself all over, and in the end they didn’t even end up together.
It’s a great story but cgi and stuff like that are not that great since it has been a long time.  10/10

The OG Classic Chinese Paladin series

Yang Mi and Hu Ge are my favorite they were awesome along with my baby Wallace and Tiffany, and I cant forget my girl Liu Shi Shi this drama really cast 3 QUEENS and 2 KINGS. I wish new popular chinese actors of this generation did not have big ego's with Toxic fanbases fighting over Top billing and screentime etc. This was the Era of Talented Actor's were not afraid to work together, and they all befriended one another irl. Everything about this drama was awesome the main ,side character's and the villains. I lost count how many times I watched this she for the past 10+years

You laugh and you cry

This is one of the best dramas (both English and Chinese productions) I have watched. It is wuxia, fantasy, romance, bromance rolled into one - with a rich mix of serious, suspense, comic and heart-wrenching moments. Of course, two dashingly handsome lead actors, and good looking support actors and actresses helped. Wallace Huo was outstanding in his expression of emotions - this is the first drama I watched of him and I am very impressed. I was hoping for a good ending to ChangQing's rather tragic love life.

If I am to nitpick, I would say I do not like the silly and rowdy XueJian character, the depressive LongKui when she was normal or the forlorn ZiXuan. They seems to me very chauvinistic depictions of women. I much prefer characters like Fu Yao or BaiQian in Ten Mile Blossom - they have much more interesting characters and more fighting spirits.

It is rare that a sequel would beat its predecessor in quality - but that is exactly what happen in this drama. It is far better than Chinese Paladin 1. The emotions it invoked was more intense, and the story was more intriguing.

This drama is clearly adapted from a videogame and it works amazingly with the plot development because there is a continuous adventure and it´s very fast paced and interesting.
Overall the story firstly focus on the searching of the mystical pearls and then the most important problem is that demon, since the beginning the drama is completing tasks and defeating enemies. There is a lot of comedy, I really appreciate this mood especially after so many tragic dramas. The good thing about Chinese Paladin 3 is that there is a serious and well developed plot combined with a carefree and fresh mood, very enjoyable.
Additionally there is a variety of very charming and funny characters, what is more interesting about this drama is the fact that the characters are kind of far from the traditional ones; the first couple: Jing Tian and Xue Jian are the perfect example, their personalities are lively but very far from the usual perfect ones, they even keep fighting and yelling through the whole drama, perfect for a comic mood, but they also have high morals and are loyal and those virtues are gradually developed. There is also the best couple: Chang Qing and Zi Xuan, they have a complex relationship (see and fall in love with them) and I would love to see more of them.
Overall this is a very entertaining drama which I really enjoyed, a must watch.
