Slow pacing and unrealistic Characters
For my taste this series pacing is slow.Dropped twice once on EP 4 and second time on EP18.
Second couple are one of the saving grave
Their is nothing much of character development for any support roles.
Unrealistic characters. Could not able to connect with any main characters. We are supposed to hate SML but i could not. And do we have these kind of step family in this world, also even if they exist anyone would break their connection once they move out of their circle, that makes FL stupid and unrealistic.

Only watch if there is nothing better available
The story was based on an interesting premise of the relationship between a man who abhors lies and a woman who is constantly fibbing. But the FL 's dry as bones personality really did not go with along with the premise. The woman was supposed to show high social EQ and defuse situations by stretching the truth or downright lying, but honestly there was such a lack of charm and expressiveness in the actor that the irritable and zero EQ male lead appeared more scintillating. I think this is a case of miscasting. The entire logic of the FL being able to make good the situations spoilt by the ML's unbending rules didnt come through.I was trying to imagine someone with natural charm like Bai Lu or Dilraba ; with such actors the premise would have worked well. With Liang Jie's earnest , colorless and timid personality, it comes unstuck.
Full marks to the actor playing the male lead's sister. She was absolutely glorious and here's wishing the FL had even an iota of that child actor's animation.
Xin Yun Lai performed the ML really well. He brought out the dourness, the quiet watchfulness very nicely . Its a shame that his act was not able to get support from Liang Jie.
Plot holes like the prolonged senseless revenge track ( really? the ML was a kid and how was he responsible for a man losing a legal case?) , the volte face by the Xi Yun from a great boss to a mean avenger detrated from the quality of the story. Repeated tropes like the FL falling into the ML's arms at least 6-7 times were cringe.. I think creators overuse these stupid tropes only when the chemistry between actors is missing. A big downside.
I am sorry I just couldnt drag myself to watch beyond episode 16. I rushed to MDL to read what others had read before finding that other people were similarly bored out of their wits midway too. Dropping at #!6

Interesting Title but later can be boring
Actually, at first i was interested because this drama showed unique theme "man who doesnt lie", but I think the execution can be more attractive if the storymaker could put some sweet funny misunderstood scenes, instead ML become so annoying and rude! The acting for both FL and ML are very good as usual, i had seen them in previous drama and they are professional, chemistry is great. But again i dont like the production, since too many UNNatural scenes, like sooo many times FL slipped and fell and its always the ML catch her with unnatural movement and trapped them in accidental ready-to-kiss position. I just feel it will be cheesy and cheap drama! Was this review helpful to you?
Decent filler drama for in-between shows you love
This is the kind of drama you'd watch in between better dramas that you desperately want to watch, but they're ongoing so you have to wait a week (or day) for it to update :/ This drama is pretty regular.I've seen someone complain about the FL's acting, and that she's all around very stiff. It comes with the territory. All Chinese drama female leads must be cordial, pious, coy, and she can have spunk, but not too much. So this FL fits the bill perfectly. She's not a total pushover as she was in You Are My Destiny, but she's also not brazen and (cringe-ily) assertive like Eugenie Liu's character in Triad Princess. Perfect LUKEWARM. Yipee. She's a lot more likeable than most female leads in Chinese dramas, imo at least, and she defends herself. She's selectively smart when the situation serves to benefit the male lead (as seeming like a knight on a white horse) but she is also self-sufficient enough.
Weirdly this show seems to allude to more adult things (such as condoms, or motels and sex and that sort of thing, though always in a jesty manner) which i find weird cause like, uhm- China? Y'all can't even do proper kisses on camera you sure you wanna act like you're some kind of pg-19 drama or smthn when this has (and always will be) pg-15 or smthn? I'm looking at them allusions like-
The ML is decent enough. The usual with C-dramas amirite? His acting has it's moments for awkwardness, but what can you do? The IDEA of their chemistry is much more compelling than their actual chemistry lololol, but only 12 episodes are out so far out of 31, and they haven't even realised they like each other, much less kiss, so this is looking like a kiss scene ep 29 affair LMAO. I'll delete/edit this review once the show is finished (or once i drop it(?) LMAO) and we'll see.
also the second male lead is a whiny child.
So far, this drama is just decently above average. It has nothing special to it. Just the standard cold, low EQ male lead, and a FL who's the exact opposite. I sort of like that the female lead lies a lot. The male lead comes off as overbearing and ridiculous in the first few eps but he tones down you get used to him. All in all, watch with a grain of salt, and you'll be able to enjoy it well enough.

DNF. Adults in the show are all idiots...
Don't understand how this show is rated as high as it is. The characters and the plot were mediocre at best. I've watched a lot of cdramas this year and I understand how certain clichés and tropes are popular even if they're predictable. Even if the drama isn't what I would consider a good drama, I'd give it a fair chance if the characters or plot were at least tolerable. All the adults in this drama are idiots. These people make poor decisions without any thought to the consequences and they either drag on their poor decision (in this drama's case, the lies they tell) or they constantly repeat them. I understand the whole premise of this drama is to provide a perspective on telling lies/white lies vs always being honest/brutally honest, but 10+ episodes into the show, neither ML or FL (or even the supporting cast) had any character development. Even the white lies they tell in the show are so completely unnecessary and do nothing for the plot or character development. They're basically just put in because the character is supposed to be a habitual liar, but we're also still supposed to believe that she's a good person and is doing it for the benefit someone else, while also still completely unaware of the potential consequences of any of the lies she tells. I've watched enough dramas where there are often characters who are ignorant or make poor decisions, but when every adult in the show hasn't even reached what I would consider the maturity level of a normal adult, that's where I question the writing. The most mature character in the show was the child, so I don't understand why all the adults were so poorly written. Characters felt like they should have been in high school rather than working professionals.
Plot points that were probably the most annoying:
- 2nd FL is the one who pushes to get FL hired, but becomes jealous when ML & FL start getting close. Like what kind of idiot hires an attractive assistant for their crush and then suddenly becomes jealous and hurt when ML shows some interest in said assistant. And we're supposed to believe she's a successful businesswoman?!
- FL is a moron and constantly makes bad decisions, but still feels things are unfair to her (which ML does point out). She's not what I would ever consider an employable person. The fact she even gets hired, fired, and rehired again is so stupid. She's not even that particularly good at her job, she's just there as a buffer, and 50% of the time she fails as a buffer.
- The ex-friend who wants revenge plot...it's so poorly done that I couldn't even sympathize with either ML or 2ML before I dropped the show.
The pace of the whole show was slow. If it gets better in the later half, I wouldn't know.

One of the very few most honesty and realistic ML of all time.
Fang Zhi You character is very different, he isn't cold hearted because some woman hurt him, it is because he hurt his friend through an unintentional lie fabricated by his father, to frame his friends fathers. He isn't cold hearted. He infact is just a very straight forward man with not fliter. There is nothing wrong with an honesty man but sometimes being to honesty is a bad thing because people can't take the truth. But honesty he character is very tolerable and practical. I like ML with this charcteristics. He is also a man that owns up to his own mistakes, which is very attractive, in my opinion.Xu Yi Ren is not that memoriable . Her character is that of a dumb lying girl who somewhat attempts to support the ML through her devotion and kin ability to pay close attention to details surrounding his life.
Li Zhe is the second ML and also the friend that Fang Zhi You hurt in youth. His character hate toward Fang Zhi You is very practical, If I was hurt in the same fashion, I too would harbor the same hate that he had for Fang Zhi You. He is very intelligent when it comes to scheming. He does seem to be a very good guy with a very good concious toward the Xu Yi Ren.
I honesty don't find the FL intersting but I do like the two ML story and their friendship. So I am going to keep watching because of them.
But the story surround the FL and ML is very predictiable and boring.

Well
So far im finding this kind of intresting. Who can never tell a lie, stand to be alone for life. This is intrrsting bc ive had this discussion with friends. Can the world exist without lying? The answer is no, so when i came across this drama i had to watch. The storyline is the same as most, but witg a twist. He wronged someone and is feeling all the weight of guilt from whatever he did to them. (I wont be spoiling anything more) usually, they were wronged and as a result they become cold and withdrawn. (I kinda like a cold, brooding man.) This drama he is repenting for something he did and therefore resides himself to not lie anymore. He mentions a lot that lies comes back to you. So you get the notion that he yold a whooper of 1.
So far im enjoying it. The chemistry is there, but they are yet to address it. I like that. Sometimes they rush the romance making it corny and forced. Let see if i end up loving or hating this.

Cookie cutter cold male CEO- bubbly assistant romance
Dropping this, the show is pretty boring. I watched until episode 4. The plot seems very redundant with the traumatic past resulting in cold ML, a bubbly FL breaking his mold, a clingy confidant of the ML being jealous all that jazz. Plot movement is slow and the romance hasn't sucked me in. The humour is very mild and didn't make me laugh. The acting is fine, the ML doesn't have to act anyways since is the arrogant cold faced CEO so I guess we could say he does his job well. The FL is doing her part well but The dubbed voice on Liang Jie is not convincing since I'm used to her natural voice. I mainly started watching since I'm her fan but the different voice makes me feel like I'm not even watching her.
Overall watch this if you're looking for more of the same modern Chinese romcoms which feature CEO-assistant pairs. In my opinion, Lucky's First Love is a better option.
7/10

Funny Drama
This is real! The character of PresDir. Fang was similar to mine in my past. Until I realized that isn't what people need. Sometimes, we have to say something sweet, not to lie, but for avoiding hurting others. The important thing is not to become a sycophant. In a few sentences in this drama, I can be stunned or even burst out laughing.Remember what Yiren said "Antonym of fact is not a lie", it means we don't say lies, we just hide the things that might hurting people.
See, to LIE and to HIDE never be the same.

Uninteresting
I couldn't watch this drama because of the quality of it and it just seemed so uninteresting. I had dropped it after watching an episode in a half. I had read the synapsis and thought it would be an interesting drama but I was mistaken. Maybe, I'll try again but for now it was just hard to watch. I'm a big fan of the female lead since she was in eternal love and you're my destiny. So, I thought it would be good since this would be my first drama without her and Zhaolin as cast members. For this to be released in 2020, the production was bad.Was this review helpful to you?
