DNF. Adults in the show are all idiots...
Don't understand how this show is rated as high as it is. The characters and the plot were mediocre at best. I've watched a lot of cdramas this year and I understand how certain clichés and tropes are popular even if they're predictable. Even if the drama isn't what I would consider a good drama, I'd give it a fair chance if the characters or plot were at least tolerable.
All the adults in this drama are idiots. These people make poor decisions without any thought to the consequences and they either drag on their poor decision (in this drama's case, the lies they tell) or they constantly repeat them. I understand the whole premise of this drama is to provide a perspective on telling lies/white lies vs always being honest/brutally honest, but 10+ episodes into the show, neither ML or FL (or even the supporting cast) had any character development. Even the white lies they tell in the show are so completely unnecessary and do nothing for the plot or character development. They're basically just put in because the character is supposed to be a habitual liar, but we're also still supposed to believe that she's a good person and is doing it for the benefit someone else, while also still completely unaware of the potential consequences of any of the lies she tells. I've watched enough dramas where there are often characters who are ignorant or make poor decisions, but when every adult in the show hasn't even reached what I would consider the maturity level of a normal adult, that's where I question the writing. The most mature character in the show was the child, so I don't understand why all the adults were so poorly written. Characters felt like they should have been in high school rather than working professionals.
Plot points that were probably the most annoying:
- 2nd FL is the one who pushes to get FL hired, but becomes jealous when ML & FL start getting close. Like what kind of idiot hires an attractive assistant for their crush and then suddenly becomes jealous and hurt when ML shows some interest in said assistant. And we're supposed to believe she's a successful businesswoman?!
- FL is a moron and constantly makes bad decisions, but still feels things are unfair to her (which ML does point out). She's not what I would ever consider an employable person. The fact she even gets hired, fired, and rehired again is so stupid. She's not even that particularly good at her job, she's just there as a buffer, and 50% of the time she fails as a buffer.
- The ex-friend who wants revenge plot...it's so poorly done that I couldn't even sympathize with either ML or 2ML before I dropped the show.
The pace of the whole show was slow. If it gets better in the later half, I wouldn't know.
