Matsukata Hiroko is a super busy magazine editor. Just like any other 28-year-old woman, she enjoys going on dates with her boyfriend Shinji, whom she has been dating for the past 3 years, fashion and her private life. But once she turns her switch into working mode, she sacrifices all that and dedicates her life to her job. That's when her colleagues refer to her as the Hataraki Man (working man). In love with work
Watching this Drama was a conflicting experience for me. It was very well-written and well-acted, but I just couldn't like or sympathise with the lead character, the eponymous "Hataraki Man".The reason I didn't like her or sympathise with her was not because the only two things she loved were work and herself, in that very specific order. I have no problem with characters who absolutely LIVE for their work, making it not just the central element of their lives but the ONLY element, as she did.
My problem was that she spent 8 of the 11 episodes trying to have it both ways. She had a long-term boyfriend of four years but EVERY SINGLE TIME there was a choice between him and work, work won - every time, no matter the time of day or night. Then when the inevitable happened, she felt aggrieved. Copious tears and emotional anguish but to me it was simple the inevitable reality that actions have consequences. Had she been more honest about her priorities, she might not have suffered as much.

А если серьезно, то сериал о любимом деле всей трудолюбивой Японии - о работе. Нет, не так - о РАБОТЕ.
Ведь они ей живут, она заменяет им и отца и мать и любимых и семью. Вот нафига? спросил простой русский человек Хорошо еще, что работу показали интересную - издательство еженедельного журнала. Вот интересно а про столяра снимут такое? Зная японцев - снимут. И будешь ты завидовать простому хатараки, что ему так повезло с коллективом.
И все равно грустно.
Отдельное спасибо за интересную структуру повествования, умные мысли классиков никогда не бывают лишними.
Ну что это я, я села то смотреть из-за Kanno Miho и Hayami Mokomichi. Думала у них там что-нибудь завертится - нет, натекавыкусити. Жаль. А какая красивая пара. Правда, Канно тут всякие прикольные рожицы строит, да и вокруг нее крутится много красавчиков-холостяков, но не было романтики. Не было.
А еще был прекрасный эндинг с танцующей группой
