When her father's company goes bankrupt, Gao Yang is quickly forced to realize that her identity, self-worth, and friendships were all tied to her wealth. However, Gao Yang's poverty lasts for pretty much only one night because Yan Li brings her to his huge apartment. I wish Gao Yang had experienced more challenges on her own because things work out so easily/luckily. She does find a job on her own and works hard and persistently, but even in her financial condition she still purchases robot vacuums and sheet masks? She's kind-hearted, isn't spiteful, and does experience a lot of growth, so overall I still liked her.
I couldn't stand that Yan Li repeatedly called Gao Yang stupid, despite his actions showing that he saw merit in some of her ideas. I can be more forgiving when this sort of thing happens in a youth drama but Yan Li is a smart, mature adult. I guess it was supposed to convey how he loses reason when it comes to her and had feelings for her?? Yikes. In comparison, the second male lead Li Ming Che (played by the charming Li Shen) supported her creative ideas and appreciated her! When Yan Li had moments in the drama later on where he was sweet or affectionate, it actually gave me the creeps because it felt so unlike him. I was also disappointed when Gao Yang ignored the differences in her and Yan Li's personalities, and made him change his behavior for her while not doing the same for him. (The sweatshirt scene was The Worst.)
My favorite character was Xiao Zai because he was so funny, down-to-earth, and a supportive friend. The most memorable moments of this drama for me were Gao Yang's moments of self-growth and interactions with supporting characters. Also, although there were several characters facing unrequited love, none of them turned to any villainous behavior, which was a nice change. No scheming, no persistent 'I can't live without you', no creating misunderstandings. While I didn't love this drama, it was a nice break between some heartbreaking and emotional historical/fantasy dramas.

Should've been 24 ep.
There's nothing special about this series so the fact that they stretched out to 42 is pretty tiring. I do like easy watch cliche dramas but it has to be executed well with cute dialogue and a fun cast.1. FL - insanely gorgeous but her personality wasn't consistently likeable . The start was rough with her randomly accusing the ML of stealing. They should've wrote some believable encounter.
2. ML - Over controlling passed the likeable stage. He's bi - polar through out most of the series: sometimes nice, most times unbearable.
3. 2nd ML - Very cute, this character was executed well. This is your standard non existent human like supportive male character who just want the FL's happiness
Side characters:
Too many nasty characters all targeting the FL
It was a struggle to finish the series with all the crappy side characters

To be honest wasn't really expecting much... the female lead started out as naive and spoiled but I really like how she slowly matured and develops into someone being responsible and finds her passion in fashion and helping people. She has an optimistic, cute, chatty personality which was opposite to the Male lead. The male lead was reserved, logistical strict and organized. Along the story you are introduce to people who someone interrupt their relationship. They did not even kiss/confess their feelings until ep 26.... She also kind of was in a love triangle between the 1st male lead and 2nd male lead. After that the 1st main lead 's childhood friend comes back and that takes about ten eps , and then the 1st main lead aunt came back also around 10eps.
It was really cute how the female lead's bestie ( which is a guy ) found love with the 2nd female lead.
I really like Sunny Wang but did not understand why they had to dub his english and voice? as for the chemistry between the main leads there was some but could be more >_< .
Overall it was enjoyable and above my original expectation .

I would’ve continued watching the drama if it hadn’t been for the character of Yan Li. He started off okay; rude and cold, but okay overall. But his possessive and way too controlling ways were off-putting to me. He meddled too much with things concerning Gao Yang that he didn’t have any right to. I found myself thinking at multiple occasions: Who does he think he is??
I felt it was meant to be potrayed as cute or adorable like it’s his way to show he cares, but he just came off as a douche and a creep. Gao Yang lost realism to me because I can’t imagine why anyone would be attracted to Yan Li with that kind of personality.
In the beginning I was impressed by the story since it was fun, and felt very modern and encoraged female empowering, but the storyline of Yan Li completely ruined it for me.

Like this series from beginning to the end!
I think this is the best Meng Ziyi's drama I have ever watched. Yes, I am Meng Ziyi'z fans. I like every character she has played before, but I love Gao Yang more than the characters she has played in other titles. This series provides a story that is easy to enjoy and also very inspiring, especially myself as a business enthusiast. What inspired this series is about the evolution of the characters involved. All of the characters are very well played.
Notable Cast:
Meng Ziyi is the best performer of the series. She is very natural. The sincere, cheerful, creative, and eager to learn character of Gao Yang is just like herself in real life. I love the process how Gao Yang is growing up. She always overcome every challenge she had with optimistic mind and right attitude.
Li Bing Hui is my second favorite. I like character of Wang Xiao Zai. He is a sincere person behind his haphazard words. He previously rude to Gao Yang, but later he become her best friend. And I enjoy their friendship relation, even more along with Ye Ming Lang.
Tiffany Lu Chen is really awesome. She can turn Ye Ming Lang from the antagonist to be Gao Yang's inner circle with Wang Xiao Zai. Ye Ming Lang was a masculine, cold, strict, and killer boss who didn't like Gao Yang at first. She often put Gao Yang and Xiao Zai's department in almost impossible tasks, but she is fair when they achieved the target. What amazed me is Ye Ming Lang could turn herself become more girly and cheerful, melted with the sincerity of Gao Yang, and later she is melted to Wang Xiao Zai as well, to become his lover.
Even though Yan Li is not my top-list favorite character, but Sunny Wang Yang Ming portrayed him excellently. He was cool, perfectionist, very detailed person, and kind of rigid, but later he can turn himself to be more caring and lively person.
On the contrary, Li Ming Che was a warm, nice, and gentle guy, especially to woman. But in the end he cares more about his personal interests. Li Sen portrayed him well.
Annie Chen Ting Ni is my favorite support cast. Huang Yan Nan is clearly like Yan Li, but she is always treated Gao Yang properly. Such a professional manner!
Music:
I like soundtrack both opening and ending. I give two thumbs up for background music score. They are really helpful to build mood. I get deep feeling about all optimistic, comedy, romance, and touching moments from listening to the music score. Great job.

A Personal & Professional Growth Journey
PLOT: This drama tells the story of a young girl (Gao Yang) from a rich family. She has a habit of spending her days shopping, which makes her an addict. Her father's business suddenly goes bankrupt. From that moment on, Gao Yang will have to face the difficulties of life. What I really liked in this drama is that the hero Yan Li helps the heroine to grow up. She learns to save money, she finds a job and solves the tasks she is assigned with excellent results. She even discovers her passion: fashion design. I appreciated that the heroine was not a weak and helpless woman. She is intelligent, good at what she does. She slowly discovers her qualities and strengths. On several occasions she helped the two male leads, if not saved the situation with her observations on fashion. So, yes, she is naive about life but she is not brainless.
A LITTLE DOWNSIDE: the plot concerning the heroine's father, his company's bankruptcy and Yan Li’s aunt was not resolved until very late in the story and was almost abandoned in the last episodes, as if they had forgotten to deal with this part of the plot.
SECOND MALE LEAD: Li Ming Che. For the first half of this drama, he had more screen time than the hero. This didn’t really help building a romance between the main couple. In this drama, you will clearly have a Second Lead Syndrome. Li Ming Che is really kind. He likes giving gifts to others. He is always smiling and helping.
SECOND FEMALE LEADS. We can consider that there are 2 strong women surrounding our heroine:
1. President Ye. For once, she is not an evil snake. She is in love with Director Li Ming Che. She is a strong and independent woman. She can be very demanding of the heroine, but it is all acceptable for the professional matters. (Actually, it is her secretary, on her own accord, who plotted against the heroine). As the story progresses, we get to know President Ye and end up liking her.
2. Designer Huang Nan Yan. She is in love with the hero Yan Li. This woman is not a vixen but she still tries some plots to separate the main couple.
I loved the secondary couple! Their relationship evolved in a smooth and believable way.
SLOW BURN ROMANCE: For me, this story focused much more on the personal and professional development of the heroine than on the romance. Indeed, the hero appears quite rarely.
➡️ In summary, I had a great time watching this drama. I really enjoyed the personal and professional development of the heroine. Seeing her find her way and her place in society was fun!

FL is a drama queen
The ML and SML deserves better than the FL. The FL character really didn’t change much from beginning to end, she was still much a materialistic character. She had no sense of responsibility when it comes to paying the ML back for all he has given her. What pissed me off was someone offered their place for you to stay but she never really follow the ML rules when it came to living there. The FL like to use people whenever she gets into trouble or needs help by acting cute and acting stupid. Her priorities are all screwed up, when she was robbed in England and instead of going to the police station she decided that a purse that she saw was more inportant. And why do she need 4 pairs of slippers? Another thing that don’t make any sense in this series, where did the FL get a change of clothes when she was in England finding her father at the house where she thought he was? She didn’t bring any luggage or overnight bag when she found out where her was was hiding. Was this review helpful to you?
I also don’t understand how on earth Gao Yang is able to fall for Yan Li, she literally just lives in his house for a couple weeks and somehow falls in love with him even though he’s being a complete jerk and giving her rules she had to follow. I really liked clothing in this drama, not only on Gao Yang but also on Ye Minglan.
