A Drama for Working People :) Has its good and bad points

Well, at first it was hard to understand, especially since I'm not familiar with the internal happenings in the "entertainment" or "content production" and "IT" industry. So it was a bit of a challenge to relate to them specifically in that aspect. But putting the specifics aside, the working environment was relatable as an office worker myself. The struggles of proving yourself, adapting to several people, the politics, the betrayals and also the friendship, teamwork and mentoring among colleagues. Also, they touched the aspect of traditional Chinese families which I am also part of - protective parents, parents who obviously care for your sibling more than you, parents who have planned your life for you. The growth of the leads' romance was also nice - they were not too cheesy, and the relationship was somehow serious and more stable, compared to other romance dramas. There's also the realistic insecurity among couples, which I see in person among my friends, and also one of the reasons I find personal commitments like this challenging. I love how they still loved each other even after breaking up.

Just a few things that I didn't appreciate much was some characters disappeared like bubbles without proper closure to their story. XiaoWen disappeared early on and came back at the last ep. The previous people from Yo - CEO, Qin, Yin, Hui, Wu - disappeared after the fraud case and changing CEOs. The roommates, Shen Ying and husband were MIA and only appeared at the last ep also. I understand that they were not shown since they're not spending time with XiaoXiao anymore, but would have appreciated more proper "closures" or ending scenes for them. Also, why was the storyline of the sick kid at the latter part, felt like it was not the right timing for that plot, when you're 4eps away from the ending.

Note: I was heartbroken for a minute when I thought that DuanChong had a new family in the end. But turns out, he didn't and he lived happily ever after with Xiao! Yey! Also I loved the part when XiaoXiao had period cramps and she was barely surviving in the office, because that's me every month LOL!

Conclusion: this is not a drama for people who want romance only. it's about 75% work and 25% romance, so viewers who are exposed to the working environment would better understand the drama.

Indeed it's a cool drama!

It's a story about loyalty, aspirations and tenacity. Presentation is refreshing and at times bold. The plot is complex, and has many layers. Being able to understand Chinese is a plus point in appreciation of the subtle humor as well as the angst of the major roles. Acting skills are very good despite the young ages of most actors. The veteran actors are, needless to say, superb. It's my first time watching Zhou Yutung and Li Hongyi. I really enjoyed their performance. The best part of the drama is in letting the actors use their own voices. Wang Dong's ability to modulate his voice is a joy to watch. I am glad the drama balances the abilities of young and veteran actors. I look forward to more of such dramas. Kudos to the director and producers.

Bundle of negativity and failure with no big story or entertainment !!

The drama is full of negativity and failures which will make you wonder why you really need this drama when you reach the end. The female lead is an workaholic character who doesn’t need family or love. Or should I say she was trained that way by her lead Lu Mang who himself had to divorce his family and live a lonely life for his workaholic nature to put work ahead of everything else.

There is no big story and it’s all about how everyone make others suffer with their motive to succeed and live their dream to be a great entrepreneur. The drama starts with FL being ditched by her ex for his own selfish motive to succeed and we see her doing the same to others .

By the end, to compensate all the mess they had created, they done a documentary about Internet abuse for one whole episode. That’s the only good outcome out of otherwise meaningless 40 episodes. Just by using the child sentiment , a good documentary and a happy ending they tried their best to cover up everything else, then I wondered if a few happy episodes can really tally the misery we all faced in the rest of episodes ?

Finally, Even after FL hurting and leaving ML in pain during his tough times, there is a happy ending with our ML as usual like her puppy accepting her anytime she wants and thrown away anytime she doesn’t want. Interestingly even when the Ml asked her out for dinner for the last time she prioritised her lead and spent time with him including a dinner outing lol. So much for her love !!! So much for character growth !!!

To keep the review spoiler free, I shall stop myself from elaborating the characters here. My advice for you is to look elsewhere if you are looking for a good office / romance / any genre drama.

Writer of this drama should seriously reconsider his profession and save people from wasting their time with his useless creations.

A ROLLER COASTER RIDE OF HIGH AND LOWS

I just finished watching the drama like litterally. I see these unsatisfied comments and rates and i have to say this is an underrated drama. Its good to go for something new.

Not all male leads or even female leads show up at the first episode of the drama. Its really worth watching those 15 episode before the male lead came. Its also good to watch realistic frana because ive been sick and tired of all those unrealistic ones where its just a cycle. Meeting each other and either becoming enemy or friends and then just falling in love and little problems of life. Like real life problems. And also dont expect too much romance happening because the two leads dont have much interactions becausd theyre workaholic but they still acted the sweet scences really well just like any ordinady couple

Also you should expect and ready yourself to be atient enough to watch this drama because just like what my headline says, its a rollercoaster of high and lows (mostly lows). Plot twists are in the end and its really really amazing. At the last 5 episode thats where ny patience was tested and i really held on hard and finished the drama.

As for the acting of characters, they all played their role well especially the child. As for the soundtrack, its quite good but not as good for me to listen to it everyday. Im a really into music and i cant ho on a day without it and once i find one good music i play it over and over again just like the soundtrack for the drama "Crush". Im not a person who likes to rewatch a drama or movie but i still rate it 10/10.

Despite everything, it is still a cool world

Arghh, this drama gave me very complex feelings. If you are just looking for romance fluff, skip this, because even though it showed the giddiness of love, it also gave a hard dose reality. The good points of this drama are that it depicted seemingly real persons and real problems. It showed the growth of Xiaoxiao as a person and not just in her love life.

I have watched past dramas of Zhou Yutong, Li Hongyi and Wang Dong and was generally satisfied with their acting and so I decided to watch this. (Side note: LHY was WD's son-in-law in the Legendary Life of Queen Lau).

With odds frequently stacked against, Xiaoxiao was not a Candy who needed a knight in shining armor to always save her during her predicaments. She finds logical solutions. Though she relied on LuMang because he was her boss, she did not expect him to support her at all times. When she realized that NieJaoFan was toxic she really tried to break it off him. When DuanChong courted her, she often refused his money. And even though she experiences sadness and failure, she kept on pushing forward.

On the love story, this had the most realistic meet cute I've seen. They were awkward, gave each other polite smiles and bashfully got each other's number. They just gave off happy vibes when they were together so that you can't help but feel happy for them. The conflict started when Xiaoxiao started her own media company and forgot appointments with her boyfriend. For me, it was not she was prioritizing work over him, she really just needed time to establish her small company. She loved him but she also needed to pursue her own dream. This showed that success in love does not only depend on being with the right person but also on the right timing in a person's life.

The faux endings reminded me of another Zhou Yutong's drama, 'Long for You', which by adding a single scene turned a sad ending into a happy one. Good thing they chose to end it on a positive note, making it a cool world after all.

If you want something new try it

I'm not one to write reviews, but...

As the title says, but the only new thing here is that...
SPOILER, SPOILER

As I said, the only new thing here is that the protagonist stays with the supporting character, something strange to see, especially in a c-drama XD

But the truth is that I did not see all the episodes, the scriptwriters, directors, etc., they get used to us with very long dramas, 40 episodes for me is a lot, this one could also have been shortened some parts, since in the end many things were left sideways in the blink of an eye, with 30 or at most 32 chapters it was more than fine.

I think the ending was good, for my taste, I repeat for my taste it fell a little short, since as always being 40, or sometimes older, they leave the good or the best part, or that's what we all wanted to see for the last 5 or 10 minutes, I mean, it doesn't make much sense, but it's already a format that everyone uses in dramas.

This is just my point of view, I saw that many liked this, I didn't, the performances were very good, but the story itself did not satisfy me.

The music, in c-dramas, in general, I don't pay attention to that, since I don't like them, except for a few among many, like 'behind your smile' I think it was the best ost I have heard of all the dramas Asians.

In general, I don't usually watch dramas with 30 or more episodes again, apart from girlfriend, love 020, and a few others, this drama is not something to repeat jejejeje
