Students, including Nishino Aoi, take part in class and sports activities at a prestigious high school. Aoi is a member of the school's archery club. He practices archery studiously and doesn't socialise much with the other students. His childhood friend Seno Haruka is also a member of the archery club, but she worries about Aoi. One day, thunder strikes the school grounds. After that, the ordinary lives of the students change drastically. Many samurai descend on the school grounds. It appears that the entire school has travelled back in time to the Sengoku period. Making things worse, they realise that they are in the time right before the Battle of Okehazama takes place. Reviews
Delivers nothing you would expect.
This one had me waiting for months, not only because there was Miura Haruma but also since this is the kind of stuff I'm interested in it. But oh was I disappointed.Story:
The plot is all over the place. OK so exceptional students with brains and excellent sports ability time travel to Sengoku period but do you expect a Shinai to beat a Katana? You have to be a fool if you believe high school students can fight Samurais and that is what the movie basically tried to depict. It's violent, not the sword fight, because there is none of it, but one-sided violence which is no fun but pathetic to see.
The history parts are unexplained which'll make you quite confused if you're not familiar with them.
The story feels hopeless and both rushed and dragged at the same time. Makes you wish it was just set in Sengoku and had proper action and fighting scenes. Ending is incomplete and really ridiculous.
Acting:
There weren't any hard scenes but it was just fine. The dialogs were annoying at times but that is a different thing. Miura Haruma was really cool in it and those were the only parts I enjoyed.
The bottom line- The approach was fresh and had good potential but everything felt out of the place. Just go and see Kingdom or Rurouni Kenshin if action is what you want.
History Explanation:
It is set in the Sengoku period just before the Battle of Okehazama between Oda Nobunaga and Imagawa Yoshimoto. Matsudaira was a vassal of Imagawa and seized the fort of Marune from the Oda forces. This was followed by the Okehazama Battle. Although Nobunaga had only 2000 men as compared to Imagawa's 20000 men army, he planned a surprise attack and killed Imagawa. Then Matsudaira, who was not present in the battle, pledged his allegiance to Nobunaga changing his name from Matsudaira Motoyasu to Tokugawa Ieyasu.
Story is interesting but what a waste
Main plot is not bad, time travel of high school students to Warring period. But ....
I can't stand anymore and have to stop around final.
Fighting wise, it's crappy. Fight the samurai soldier who will kill you without batting an eye with just punching, without killing them?
Worst thing is when fighting seriously and when one of the friends got wounded and near dead ..... there it comes ... other one are talking sadly to wounded friend and .. where is the enemy that try to kill you? ... did he just watch silently because you're sad?
Oh .... I really can't stand scene like that. Have to drop before finish.
If directing is better, it'll be really interesting movie.
