In truth it's a love story. What's endearing is how our heroes manoeuvre the confusing ways around love. And that sacrifices and patience are definitely included when it comes to love. It's a love story worth watching what with the beautiful OST. I love the calmness in Yuchi as he goes through many lifetimes for the love of his life which started off by wanting to return the favour she gave him. Instead of returning the favour only, he ended up being by her side, protecting her for lifetimes. And in Xue Qianxun's case his cold demeanor is no match for a bubbly blue bird. And watching him changed around her was also a joy to watch. There's a lesson to be learned in this drama as in any dramas too....but hard to learn when you're already in love....that is not to simply do whatever your loved one asks of you. That's what Yuchi did when LiuYin asked him to save her mistress....and this starts off the many lifetimes they both had to live through before having a chance of being together.Was this review helpful to you?

The love story of a girl and a dragon! I will love you for 4 lifetimes !
I love wang he di!! So of course I will watch this drama!I must say overall its a good drama. This gave me the vibes of Love of three lifetime, going through love and separation.The love story of a girl and a dragon. The female lead saves a hurt dragon which she mistakes as a snake. She takes care of him and they build a relationship . The female lead has this strong ora that can help to repair the torn " Sky net" from letting the evil creatures hurt the humans. So the heavenly deities are after her, but the male lead does all he can to protect her. The male and female lead have to be separate for 4 lifetimes before they can be together. In her first life, they try to change her fate she marries a guy who can help her. She also gets her memory wipe away., but she slowly remembers the male lead and their love story. She drinks the forgetting potion and starts the second life. In the second life she is a farmer's daughter and eventually becomes the Sky girl who helps make it rain for her land. The third lifetime she is a general., and the fourth lifetime she is reborn into the Kun lun sect and trains to become a hunter of the evil creatures.
To be honest their story got a little bland, because it was mostly the male lead protecting the female lead from a distance. He truly loved her, which was very touching and heart breaking.
The second leads story was what kept it going I liked both the second male and female lead. The second female lead is a bird spirit. She is the best friend of the female lead. The female lead saves the bird spirit and they become friends. The bird spirit aka second female lead was there for all of the female lead's 4 lifetime. The bird spirit has a really cute love story with the second male lead who is charge of helping with when people die and their spirit gets reincarnated. He is an icy cold character compared to the bird spirit ( who 's cheery and cute) .Their love story is also bittersweet.
In the end it takes a sudden turn and someone who you dont expect to be evil is evil!!!
The female and male lead makes a cute couple but their kisses arent convincing, with the exception of the last kiss... More like a plant on the lips then kissing....

If not for the sad ending I would have given it a perfect 10
First of all the Dylan wang factor made me watch the show, I didn't follow any recommendations whatsoever. The other cast was also excellent but Dylan is my fav ... As far as story is concerned, I am not impressed but not disappointed either . Few stances felt like bit of a drag ..like she had to live four lifetimes before she can stay with him .. honestly speaking it was boring . Though It was a love story but the romance was lacking ... Their chemistry was indeed awesome still I couldn't find many happy couple moments between them ...it was sad and heart breaking ... secondly the repeation of fireflies,fallen patels, butterfly and fireworks scenes was too much ..I mean like come on! man! give us some variation she is living four different lives and you are showing everything pretty much the same.Parallel leads story was much more in focus for first 20-25 episodes.
the character of female lead is quite weak and has given very less importance ,like it was all about her yin soul other than that her role in the show was not much influential. In fact the parallel female lead stole the show for me. She is bubbly and sassy I loved her. Still I must say both actresses were beautiful and very much loveable.
After that comes the fight scenes and VFX ..those were great .. Chinese dramas are best known for the VFX/fight scenes anyway.
Music was lovely ... It was soothing and very apt for the them of the show.
Parallel leads and side actors were equally talented .. each and everyone of them (from parallel lead's side kick to cat demon ) delivered the best.
Last comes the ending ... See! I don't mind sad ending but for this one I wanted a happy ending ...no !! Seriously !! Let me explain ... I don't feel sad when characters who happened to be living as lovers shared some moments get seperated... But in their case it was prolonged wait ... Suffering , regrets and feelings of missing each other ..for freaking 200 years he was waiting ... She also was subjected to four lifetimes just to be with him ....IF THESE TWO DON'T DESERVE A HAPPY ENDING, I DONT THINK ANYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD DOES.
It was sad blame it on the writer who screwed the ending just because he/she wanted to showcase his/her experimental mindset ..( GO TO HELL ! writer)
So everything was perfect ... But story itself written by an average writer who I don't know might be thinking of himself as Shakespeare.
Drama is totally worth a watch and rewatch as well

Not a perfect xianxia drama, but fairly entertaining.
Initially, it looked a bit nonsensical, but it got better from around episode 18-20 onwards, when Liu Ying was reincarnated as Feng Chenyue, a brave general. Actually, it was a refresher, as the previous 2 lifetimes: Liu Ying and Ruan Ayu looked like damsels in distress (which bothers me!) And the chemistry between Dylan and Bambi stood out at that part. Otherwise, the main parts were pretty meh :( I prefered seeing their offscreen interactions. They would have much better chemistry in a modern drama, like Tom and Jerry type.I think that the writers of MTD wrote Dylan's character as an eye-candy than an actual protagonist. This doesn't show his true potential. He's a much better and a more expressive actor than what is shown in MTD (although he was expressive in his and Deng Wei's scenes).
The show savers of the show were actually the funny scenes here. Like, when Qingqing often catches Yuchi Longyan and Xue Qianxun in an awkward position whenever they argue XD and many more XD plus the trio: Yuchi Longyan, Xue Qianxun and Qingqing, when they interact! Lol they put me to splits XD XD XD and ofc, the Feng Chenyue part, which was the most interesting and the best written part. And I have to add: the chemistry between Dylan and Deng Wei (I wish this was BL though).
The second leading couple also had good chemistry and were very entertaining. I wish the main cp was as well written as them.
Out of all the characters, my favourite is Qingqing and Feng Chenyue. They are the only characters which stood out.
All of the actors did a decent job in their performances.
The writers needed to do better. The plot had loopholes, some scenes made me cringe a bit, a lot of parts were cheesy, but I liked that sudden twist in the tale. This is not a perfect drama, but according to me, it's a good one-time watch, although the trailer showed a lot of promise.
And overall, if you are expecting a lot of entertainment, like pure entertainment, some comedy, then this if for you. If you're looking for serious logical xianxia drama and not eye-candied characters, then it's ok to give it a miss.

Master Piece of 2021
Cast is amazing. It really interesting cool drama makes us cry and laugh. Dragon King's love is really a rare beauti thing in this show. Specially love the friendship b/w the 1st lead &2nd lead. I like this story (also for the 2nd lead)bcoz of this two main lead char has never misunderstood each other.The drama was good but I really don't want to support it becoz of it's unsatisfied Happy ending. I really want 1 more episodes from the production for a proper happy ending...
Love the 2nd lead (a lonly star& blue swallow),hope they stay together forever.

A bit frustrating but beautiful overall.
I read the comments on this and nearly gave up on it, I'm glad I ignored them. I loved this. (I had hints the ending was bad, but it still nearly gave me an aneurysm.) The love story between the main leads is both heart-wrenchingly beautiful and sad. Not gonna lie, after everything they went through, I wanted more from their ending. But apparently, this is a thing in cdramas so I'll be careful if I decide to watch more (already caught The Wolf but can't watch it because I know it'll make me cry too.) It's the same for the secondary couple as well, since they aren't the leads their love story was a bit slow to develop, literally happened while the female lead was going through 4 lifetimes, but their background did make me tear up. There are just certain people you wanna beat up for their idiocy (such as a certain heavenly emperor who's clearly terrible at it, these immortals need a democracy or something.)As for the villain that supposedly came out of nowhere, I'm usually dense about this kind of thing but even I figured he was sus pretty early on. So it hurt, because I knew it would hurt the leads, but the twist was honestly expected.
What I really wish we got more of was interaction with the world and with more characters, because a lot of those feel like loose threads. From the first life alone we never learn what happens between the FL and the woman she worked for as a maid, they were as close as sisters but after her mistress had to face a crisis, there were no scenes of a reunion between her and the FL, We just got a fast-forward to the next life. The first few episodes especially is almost exclusively the male and female lead with other characters sprinkled in here and there. While I understand why, since the focus is the love story between the leads and time was limited, it was still irritating because I wanted to know! What happened? Were they still close friends? Did they talk at all? That was the only place the story felt lacking for me.
I loved watching the cool fight scenes, as far as I care both male leads are total yandere characters for their female lead. I'm also not usually a fan of 'lifetimes' stories, I tried it with web novels and gave it up, but I surprisingly loved this. Maybe because everything was always connected.

Romantic story with unexpected ending
This story is very beautiful between Dragon king and human. Story talk about 4 life of human and dragon keep take care and help her all of her life. The story has both drama and romantic that is interesting ! Plus, the character in drama is cool ! every character is charm of itself no nonsense character anymore.Actors is very good especially Female Lead Bambi Zhu ! She changed her character every life and she made people del her pass life completely that is very talents like Xian Ji in Love and Redemption. Moreover, her improvement of character is very good.
Personally, I think male lead some scene is not nature. I knew that his character is keep cool but second male lead can do it well. However, he did it well overall.
Ost. Is the best and link with all life of Liu Ying !
However, everything go well but in the end made me and other disappoint. I hope that in the last ep. will be so sweet and very cute ending.

Not exactly what i expected with an unexpectedly good ending
I had high expectations for this one after i saw a clip of it in Stairway to Stardom (2017) and had been waiting for it from the time i saw it was supposed to be a thing but unfortunately it failed me really bad. The only good thing that came out is the ending and 2nd couple story. VERY LONG REVIEW ALERT!!!!In short, it starts off well, is a mess for eps 10-30, last 6 eps are amazing.
Story: Honestly, the theme of love that transcends over several lifetimes is particularly appealing and beautiful so i expected better. After watching hits like EL and L&R, i was disappointed in how a similar plot was executed here. Granted that this was not a high budget drama like them, but that doesn't exactly explain this terrible mess of a story for the main couple, though it was way better done for the 2nd couple. Now, someone tell me why the hell did the dragon king fall in love with the FL? It started with the ML trying to bring something to become a powerful immortal, but ended up injured and became a snake and got saved by an innocent Liu Ying, the FL. Our ML wants to pay back to the FL for saving him and then boom! He is in love with her. Why? He literally gave up whatever he was doing or supposed to do, went against everyone, got hurt a million times to save our damsel in distress of a FL, sacrificed everything possible for her. The FL kept repeating her pitiful lives, and falling for him everytime. Their love story was rather boring and repetitive. He keeps watching over her for 3 lives, saving her, and then she dies and forgets him. And it repeats again.
On to our 2nd couple. Like everyone else, i loved the 2nd couple story, chemistry and characters a lot more than the main leads. Their story was actually very well written with a constancy. It was understandable how and why they fell in love and it was interesting to find their past. It was a show stealer for real. Sometimes i even felt that the 2nd story is the real plot, using the main story as a cover.
About the antagonist, he was a complete shallow and evil a-hole.
Ending: Was that ending written by someone else? Like the main couple's story got a lot better towards the very end. The 2nd couple got their happy ending. The ending was amazing and really a redeeming factor for the whole drama. Spoiler: they technically died, but SML sent them to a different world with only them two there, with their pasts, memories and forever.
Characters and acting: I didn't like the main couple's characters. They weren't even written properly. The whole time the ML was arrogant with little to no expression on his face and it looked like he was angry and questioning "why did i take this drama again?" The ML had practically nothing to do other than save the FL and sometimes kiss her. The fl was always a pitiful little girl and she does that well. The 1st and 2nd lives roles suit her more than being a mighty general in her 3rd life. (Actually im just a little biased because she keeps reminding me of Xuannu from EL, so i just don't think she suits a brave heroine role well. Don't come at me, im not spreading any hate). there wasn't much chemistry as well between them.
Now to my beloved 2nd couple. They had a cute chemistry, their acting was very well done, they had nicely written characters with a good backstory. It didn't seem like it was just his debut for the SML, he was that good. The SFL was charming and cute.
i loved the bromance between the ml and sml more than the 1st couple romance. In fact the ml's interactions with everyone had a lot more emotions, but with the fl, he felt like a robot.
Music and production: The music was good, cgi looked really fake but pretty. Costumes were very pretty. Oh and did those wolf demons had to have such funny doll like appearance? ??♀️ all other demons were in their human forms but some demons looked so silly and funny.
I'd not rewatch it. This story should've been about the 2nd couple with the 1st couple story as a side story. As for the main couple, can watch it, or skip their parts, but do watch the bits of the 2nd couple. Anyway watch it or not, you won't be missing on something great, because its merits don't outweigh the flaws.

I want season 2 with same cast
To be honest I don't expect it in the end what happened. It connected me with all my emotions. Acting skills of all the cast are just superb there is not only a single flaw it was just perfect but i really want its season 2 with same cast. Let them live freely and happily this time . Dylan Wang and Deng Wei you two seems to be perfect for your roles sometimes rude and cold and sometimes fallen in love whole heartedly. Both of you are holding a killer smile feels like uuffff i wish I could meet you once in my life. Zhu xudan and Pan mei ye you two are the prettiest girls I've ever seen.Both of you have finest features and perfection in every of your act. Amazing brilliant performance I'm anxiously waiting for season 2 please please please continue it further

Beautiful Drama but Lacks Soul
I watched this drama for Dylan Wang which got me through the 36 episodes. It wasn't bad per say but it attempts to have the same success of Ashes of Love but doesn't do it as well. The costuming, acting, and music wasn't bad but I didn't enjoy the plot that much. The chemistry between the leads wasn't that good which is bad because this is a love story across lifetimes... Some of their scenes were better than other but I often left the chemistry and story of the second leads outshined them. The latter have also felt rushed which was annoying because it felt like it was supposed to be climatic but it wasn't. I just wanted to skip through it to know how it all ended. I wouldn't really recommend this unless you really like one of the leads like I do.Was this review helpful to you?
Not boring and a very lively story.
I loved the development of the relationship between Xue Qianxian and Dragon King when they were trying to learn about mortal love. It was comical in the beginning and slowly got serious. On and off the second female lead will still be funny. The competition between two male leads is really interesting to watch and the scene where Xue Qianxian and Fate immortal pretended to be Ayu, was priceless.The character of Xue QianXian as a cold Lord,played by Deng Wei is quite impressive. Love the OST.
It is worth the time to watch.
The story goes on for decades and crosses lifetime but don’t let that dissolution you because it’s written really well that it’ll be enjoyable. I personally don’t care for story crossing timeline but this is different.

Could be better
Well,this drama could be better in terms of writing.The only saving grace is the acting if all the actors.I personally liked the story between Xue Qian Xun and Qing Qing.Nonetheless,both the leads acting was also good.Only if the story could have been better,it would be a much more good watch.
As of now,you can skip it.
