Online Fan Screening Review
4 episodes were shown in the preview and I watched all of it! I can say that I’m thoroughly impressed—it’s a solid 10/10 for me!The genre-blending is amazing, seamlessly combining action, noir, thriller, suspense, human growth, and love. It's not every day that we experience such a wide range of emotions all in one drama. I think they adapted the necessary parts without destroying the original story and characters, making it into a fantastic drama.
Typically, I find it hard to stay immersed in dramas or movies after reading the original webtoons, but that wasn’t the case here. The adaptation is spot on. The story is fast-paced, isn't super heavy, and is filled with fun elements, which had me laughing throughout.
The comedy feels natural to me, and the comedic elements that follow the character's personalities in the original work were well-utilized, making it a drama you can watch comfortably and laugh at.
As it is a medical drama, the scenes in the operating room were edited in a way that makes them easy to understand and immersive.
Ju Ji Hoon's performance is remarkable and perfectly suited for his role. Since Jae-won's thoughts and feelings were often expressed in narration, I felt they were trying to focus on his growth to some extent. The acting across the board is stellar, with every character staying true to their webtoon counterpart.
The drama also has great chemistry between the main characters, especially the interactions between Baek Kang-hyeok and Yang Je-won, which adds to the enjoyment.
Cheon Jang-mi, the 5th-year nurse who’s called 'gangster'—she doesn’t really show off her presence that much so far. Up until these four episodes, she is a grounded character who connects the team members, but since her 'veteran' presence isn't as strong, I think we’ll have to watch the second half to get a clearer picture of her.
A special note about Kyung-won, up until episode 4, there wasn't much going on with him. There were no elements that could help me understand the character. I think it'll be in the second half too.
So far, the acting in Trauma Center has been strong, with realistic portrayals that stand out. The drama’s balance of medical intensity with light-hearted character dynamics makes it a compelling watch.
PS: Slave 1/Anus/Jae-won—he’s absolutely adorable!
Fun fact: the webtoon writer happens to be my middle school classmate!
