One Missed Call 2 is the 2nd edition to the original One Missed Call series. In the original version the character Yumi Nakamura was played by Kou Shibasaki, Here in this direct sequel to the first movie Kogure Mimura starrs as the main girl Kyoko Okudera who gets the call. I'll be writing a spoilerless review.

Kyoko Okudera is a young female with an occupation as a grade-school teacher. Her life is proceeding just like anyone elses, Until the strange event takes place. This event, The one who would change her future as she knew it then. As she herself is a bookworm and a person who spends most of her time studying to make it better, Her friends drags her out for one night by using the argument you never have any fun. A death takes place in this night suppossed to be nothing but innocent fun. the death of a close friend of her's relative.
Upon this event happening it doesn't take to long before the call forwarded to her own phone. A Call to her phone, from her own number with a ringtone she never choose herself.
Not to mention, This tone.. It sounds like something she has heard before in the past. After lots of thought she comes to remember where she heard it and how this urban legend takes place. The first victim to survive this curse, Nakamura Yumi.. She's dissapeared without a trace.
One Missed Call 2 is a story filled with horror aswell as tears, as Kyoko finds out who she really can trust in life. Maybe her true love, Was right by her side all along?..

The music in the series was great, The score was dramatic and good.. And the original soundtrack had songs filled with theme-songs who fit the series. This series is the original sequel to the original 1st movie. You'll need to have seen the first movie to be able to understand everything here..

If you are into horror movies, this movie is a mustwatch. However, It includes romance aswell so if you are a fan of romantic stories this movie is also a mustwatch... This story about the life of young Kyoko, will make you appreciate what you have in life.

This is one of the many horror movies that I actually rally enjoyed. I LOVE horror movies, but I haven't been seeing any good ones lately until I came across this. Definitely worth my time.

I didn't want to watch the second movie of ''One Missed Call'' because I honestly did not like the first movie. The characters in there annoyed me to death, and Idk... I liked this one much better than the 1st.

I loved the horror part of this... the twisted ending that I wouldn't have suspected... and even the light romance between the main characters. This movie was scary... but also very touching. The ending made me shed a bucket of tears. It actually kind of taught me something a bit more about love. Haha, I never thought that I would ever say this about a horror movie.

Overall, this is definitely worth watching. If you didn't like the first movie, you should STILL give this second movie a try. It kept me on my toes until the end, and the characters won't be forgotten easily.

Seing the good reviews on MDL I wanted to make a contrasting review after a rewatch and debating with friends after watching it together,

The overall plot was a good idea. A plot-twist from the first movie with some additions etc, I was all in for that, But it was handled veeery poorly. It's overall confusing, blur and it actually needs effort to understand what happened. I needed to watch the movie twice and read an article about it to actually have a better idea of what happened (and that person and I are pretty much as confused about the same things so I take I'm not completely stupid. This explanation page contains spoilers so I warn you, but it's a very good review and explanation for those who ended up confused as I was ; http://www.tohokingdom.com/reviews/romero/omc2.htm )

The acting wasn't good. Each taken separately weren't half bad, but they really lacked chemistry and vivacity. The scenes involving the couples seemed awkward to me because I wasn"t really convinced of their feelings, There was also an overall lack of scenes describing who really were the characters as the action kicked in very fast . We thus got to discover about them along the way but it still felt lacking to me,

As for the music. I really didn"t notice it that much. When watching i took notice of two of them because it was louder and original but it was soon forgotten, And none actually served the purpose of creating a mood, they rather were illustrating what the audience was seeing.... which isn't half bad, but I really expected more. But let's be fair, I don't think the soundtrack was the focus in any of the OMC movies...

To conclude, I would say this movie would have been nice if it was a new story, like I expected it to be. Trying to link it with the first story made it unnecessarily complex (not to mention the apparition of plotholes) and spoiled the overall result.
If you're looking for a fright, I don't really think that's the right movie either. It was, to my mind, half as scary as the first was. If you want a good story based horror movie, it's not the one either. I wouldn't really recommend this movie. I watched it with friend because we wanted to watch the whole saga but the 2nd movie is a big disappointment to my mind.

Story: On the surface this movie seems like a carbon copy sequel to the original, with no new plot lines - just new faces. However, I actually enjoyed this movie more than its predecessor due to the fact it actually was not the same story. Yes, the are phone calls that predict death but the manner in which it happens is new. The story was written in a more evolved and self aware manner that added to the experience; this curse is not stagnant it evolves, thinks and manipulates - making it that much more dangerous and creepy to watch. A wonderful aspect to this script was there was just enough background founded but not enough to dull the story and slow the pace to a crawl. A more coherent urban legend foundation is built, some loose ends are tied and groundwork for a future film are all set within under 2 hours. That being said, this film was not without some weak spots. This is a Japanese horror film and has many of the elements that you see in many of the films in the same area: angry ghosts, creepy children, crawling things, strange noises etc. but they used them fairly well so it wasn't a let down (especially considering the year of this movie being 2005).

Cast: The cast wasn't bad, but not really standouts either. Everyone was enjoyable and fit their roles well, although the chemistry between one couple wasn't 100% there. That doesn't detract from the watching experience though because it somewhat fit their characters' situation and this is a horror movie, not a rom-com.

Music: The music and sound effects worked really well for this movie. The full songs were haunting and gave an eerie edge to watching, while the sound effects definitely added suspense. I would find myself tense at times, not from what was actually on the screen but what I could hear off screen and that's almost always a good thing for movies of this genre.

Rewatch: The movie is definitely good and rewatchable, but I would probably only rewatch it once in a while.

Compared to the first movie, this one is better (in my opinion). The creep factor is there, balanced by myth and even a very, very little bit of comedy at times. Overall, this is a 7.5 for me! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and happy watching :)
