Cute drama but seems to lack a little
The general plot was not bad but there seem to be missing a few crucial part imo. They basically skip high school and university life straight to working adult which makes the story seems lacking in terms of the flow. The story also seems to touch the surface of everything, must be the budget. It does not delve in deeper so it does not seem as "wholseome". I honestly just skipped parts while watching this drama. But there are some parts that i would honestly say is touching and cute. But this drama has important lessons that we can definitely takeaway from. Was this review helpful to you?
lacking genuine character development but a cute watch
I would say this drama is pretty standard for a modern Chinese romcom. Although I found the "teachable moments" very shallow and unrealistic (the FL speaks and at the end of the speech the perpetrators admit their wrong? highly unlikely), they did introduce some more serious topics and I think these topics balanced out the fluffiness. For all of the "teachable moments" they put in, you would've expected some character development, but I didn't see as much. Also, I did notice some dialogue was put in specifically to make sure the watchers thought a certain way (instead of a more natural observing the actions and behaviors of the characters), which is a bit odd.The cute scenes were nice (not overwhelming but still enough) and the chemistry of the actors were great. I also liked the time skip. And for once, the FL goes for the kind bad boy best friend instead of the all-rounder popular guy as a first choice. Overall likeable piece, not top-teir but not web-drama quality. I do have to warn, some of the subtitles that I saw were really funky (even the FL's name has a handful of translations for the same Chinese characters) and a few times the audio would sound like a tuned-down blast-the-speaker screaming (especially in emotional scenes) but post-production did the best they could with botched audio I guess.
Overall a nice youth drama that has all of the typical elements but still has a unique story.

Almost correct without being memorable.
The plot is classic: high school lovers (undeclared) who help and support each other; love triangle with the stepbrother? ; separation on a misunderstanding; complicated reunion 5 years later.Afterwards, everything depends on the way of writing and bringing this story to life...
Well, in this series, not very well written with inconsistencies, we don't live the story.
The flaws:
- treating the phobia of darkness, (played as anxiety, not panic) is not consistent.
- the so-called sick girl, who leaves at night, alone, to escape a too early confession ???
- the separation (accepted by the ML for what plausible reason?) without a word??
- Above all, LF's inability to convey emotions!!
The good sides:
- the ML character (well done) who is funny, cheeky, brave. He is the one who keeps the series standing!
- the secondary characters are well played and relatively well developed.
The OSTs are correct without being memorable.
To conclude, I was not enthusiastic about this series, which I nevertheless watched until the end, with a lot of zapping, so much the FL annoyed me.
I will certainly not rewatch it, and I advise those looking for something captivating, to look for another drama.

Usual cute high school drama with angst and gap
Enjoyed the high-school drama for a while, but it grew tedious. The three main actors (FL=Xia AnSheng, ML=Mo ZiChen, 2ML=Yan Mu) did a good job with their roles. The other characters did their part without any surprises.Multiple threads woven together in a bit of a weird way. Awkward family relationship, childhood frenemies, bullying, deathly fear of something. And it didn't quite work. You could kind of tolerate it for a bit, but then nothing gets explained to anyone, so misunderstandings abound. Broadly, nobody tells each other anything, so it's frustrating.
The thing that really shot this down and put it in waste-of-time category was the transition from high school to post-university. Five years have passed. Several couples are now married. But ML hasn't grown up *AT ALL*. He's still the dumb-childish-frat-boy-annoying-brat that he was in high school. It's the normal depiction of the non-genious highschool boy in Chinese dramas (i.e. can't be more than 12 years old), but usually they grow up and become adults during the 5-year gap. But in this case, he's still 12 years old. If I were the FL I would dump him in a heart-beat, asking myself why oh why could I have ever liked this dude?? Meanwhile 2ML hasn't grown up either... he knows better than to keep chasing her, but he doesn't even change his tactics slightly.
I needed something to fill the gap. This didn't even fill that need.
