Gao rescues Siyuen from a fire while she tries to rescue workers from the Chuilin corporation who secretly rob copper from the empress's and their bosses trap them in a hut and try to burn them alive. Siyuen then has to use the empress decree to vow for Gao's innocence when troops arrive to save them. Her brother still tries to control her; he insists to declare the case closed and accuse the deal Bailin Yan father as guilty of corruption of the copper case. Meanwhile, Erlang visits the last invitee who didn't attend his wedding: he has been dead and after an autopsy Erlang reveals to his wife that he didn't die of accidental burning but of something else.
