Dreams of Getting Rich (2021)

It tells the story of two poor guys who leave their hometown in the northeast with dreams of getting rich and goes south to pan for gold. However, their simplistic nature coupled with a series of near misses ignites a touching and comedic story that depicts their struggles. Along the way, they come face to face with female entrepreneur Ma Lu and happily raise a kid. Set against the backdrop of China’s reform and opening up of trade and investment in the early 1990s, Xiao Bao (Song Xiaobao) follows his best bud Second Brother (Sha Yi) to the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.
