This Drama is based off of Princess Princess, which, as an Anime, I really enjoyed. Sadly, the story of Princess Princess D isn't all that enjoyable. For one, it seems as though the budget for this Drama was really, really low. There are some good actors in it, but when there is supposed to be a crowd you only see about three people at a time, you never see any impressive overviews of crowds or buildings and the lighting is quite bad. There are a lot of scenes which don't make any sense (a lot of random dancing, for example) and the story makes strange and shaky progress. All in all I'd say the Drama, especially if you've either seen the Anime of Princess Princess or read the Manga, or both, is very disappointing.

I must write this review because I think the only other reviewer was very unfair and dismissive about the show. OK it's nothing to set the world alight, as they say, but it does not set out to - it is just a very funny ~~ zany ~~ show aimed at teens but quite attractive in the carefree innocence and "high spirits" to give a smile to anyone who watches it for what it is, except if you are grumpy type looking for something it never set out to be in the first place or view actors from what they did after becoming more famous. I do think it got lost somewhere around episode 7 and zany turned to crazy and what went on I don't know but by the end there was a "resolution" ~~ the fight was resolved and harmony within the school/community was restored. Anyway, although it got lost for one or two episodes, I still liked it enough to watch to the end, which is more than I can say for some shows where the interest came and went and were on "hold" for some periods ~~ Music suitable for the show. Re-watch unlikely. Overall for good fun I put as 9/10~~

and finally if you think gay does not exist in Japan you see here otherwise, it starts quite early`〜www

I have had this on my plan to watch list but had been unable to find a subbed version of it, I finally found it and here's my review...
Is this drama presented as BL? No, not really. It plays with homoeroticism but, for the most part, the boys are presented as straight. Everything in this drama is presented with a wink so the fact that its low budget doesn't hurt it any. Think Benny Hill only without the busty women and you'll get the feel of what this drama is trying to be. I liked it, but then again I liked Benny Hill too.
I mainly wanted to watch this because I'm a fan of Sato Takeru and Saito Takumi. I wanted to watch them in their first main roles. Were they as good as Joe Cheng in The Rose? No. But it was fun watching these young actors deliver their lines while trying not to laugh, and you can see why they went on to become major stars in Japan.

The extremely low budget killed this series in every possible aspect, not to mention that they somehow managed to make everything so awkward to watch. The actors are good and well-known, but for some reason their acting in this drama feels so weird and wrong... plus you can perfectly tell that they are boys in drag (which is the total opposite of what the original manga stands for), so I don´t think the casting was that good either. The only set of costumes that the Princesses had was ugly as well, I was expecting to see more dresses but they always wore the same boring ones (low budget, again) :(

The random dance routines were also very very weird but kind of funny after all, so I'm guessing the producers and writers wanted to make people laugh, although they didn't always succeeded and made things awkward instead. I was left disappointed since I really enjoyed the anime and manga series, although I would enjoy to watch a remake, this time with a higher budget and actors that can pass as girls.
