Low on angst, high on fluff (Just the way I like it)

I'm not going to write a full blown review for this, I just want to point out why I like this drama so much since it has mixed reviews. I rate this drama so high because it's low on angst, and high on fluff. We don't have the cliche plot with a love triangle, and we don't have the overly controlling parents. On top of that the female lead is smart, driven, quick witted, and loveable. The leads also have great chemistry. If you're someone who doesn't enjoy a lot of conflict, and likes more self/ relationship growth, this is the drama for you.

This drama was very enjoyable. The female lead is 29 years old, divorced and has a child. The male lead is 23 years old. Male lead is a ceo of a beauty company. Female lead divorced her cheating husband and needs to find a job to get the rights of her child back. She becomes the personal assistant of the main lead. At first they are bickering but slowly they fall in love. I like the female lead because she is smart and thinks quickly off her brain, she doesn't let a failed marriage get to her. She strives to do the best at her work and takes good care of the male lead. The main lead at times can be child like but has time where he is very manly too. ( he looks very young...) Their real life age is the same as in the drama btw :) The male lead had a traumatic childhood which causes him to faint/ lose breath if lights are shut off.

I really like the female lead and her best friend's friendship. They are there to support each other through the highs and lows. I wasn't as fond of the best friend and the second male lead's love story because it was kind of stick, lol at least they have a happy ending.

The chemistry between the female and male lead is good too. After they fall in love with each other , there are many sweet moments shared ( kissing scenes >_<). I feel that 16 episodes was the perfect amount of episodes, so that it didnt get draggy. I also liked that they acknowledge each others feeling pretty early on, not like some where they save it for the end. of course their love has some ups and downs ( i'll let you watch that part yourself).

I might have rated it higher, but the ending was a bit unsatisfying and somewhat rushed.

It's been a while since I watched a C-Drama that I didn't feel like fast forwarding through much of the drama. The length is good, but, people might be surprised to hear, I would have like a few more episodes to fully completed the story.

What I liked about this drama?:
*Sismance is awesome
*Friendships are epic
*Cold ML & his mom are still understandable and likable
*No evil people and messed up people are handled appropriately
*Triangles are bearable and not distracting
*OTP's chemistry is lit
*Secondary characters are fun to watch
*Mystery doesn't head into melodrama

Fluff, but not entertaining

This drama was pretty bland. Although it tackles the theme of second chances at life, the overall execution was rather cookie cutter and lacked charm. The dialogues are dated, there is no original humour. You could just let it play in the background if you're doing something, it is nice and sweet and won't make you mad.

The leads are beautiful but lacking in their chemistry with each other and personal charm. Especially the ML seems really wooden, I'm tired of good looking men playing arrogant CEOs with a stone face. I feel a little harsh typing this out but what I mean is that it wasn't great, just a passable execution of the same old. The FL is really beautiful but again, her role doesn't seem to bring out interest as a viewer. What was really lacking was the chemistry, their interactions weren't interesting enough for me, also the kiss scenes seemed juvenile. The ML is younger but he is still a 24-year-old man, I didn't enjoy the childishness.

What really annoyed me is that the kid is used as a tool in this story for a few episodes at the end, before that this mother of a young child is living life without ever contacting her own son. It was strange to watch.

Anyways, if you're looking for fluff watch better shows like Le Coup De Foudre, Put Your Head On My Shoulder etc.

This was a very sweet, realistic and unique series. What I enjoy most about this series is that it was not cliché in any sense, the relationship that was developed was realist and genuine. There were no supremely crazy ex-girlfriend’s or relatives. There was no ridiculous triangle. It was simply Sweet. Of course we have the arrogant male in the beginning but that behavior didn’t last longer than an episode. It was quickly turned into something more sweet and real. I loved the female lead. She was determined, hard working, honest and loyal. The chemistry between the leads was great. The ending was great. The family relationship was great. So glad the writers didn’t mess this up with stupid complications. Loved it.

I went in without any expectations so was surprised it was a relaxing watch without too much drama. I liked the pace of this since it was 16 episodes so things were not dragging. Mostly cdramas tend to drag since they are long with no purpose.
The ML is new so some stiffness but ok as the FL was good. She was lovable and you end up rooting for her even with the age gap. It's lots of fluff since there's quite a bit of kiss scenes.
Worth watching if you want something relaxing and don't want to think too much.

It's not where's Waldo but where's the child? Skipfest

A former university beauty divorces her husband after he has an affair and finds out that he's taken custody of their child. As if it didn't get any worse, she crashes her car into a second generation rich CEO and has to pay compensation for his car while already being financially unstable. In trying to negotiate a price for the compensation, she finds out that he's seeking out a personal assistant who's willing to sell their soul for a job. As she previously devoted her life to her family, the possibility of finding a job with good pay to fight for custody for her child is obviously low. She uses her ability to read situations, ingenuity and hardworking-ness to appease/convince the CEO to hire her. It's the quirkiness thing again.

She doesn't seem to be stressed about the fact that her child is not with her and does not seem to try and contact him throughout most of the drama or at least the parts I was willing to watch. The child only seems to appear in the last few episodes.

Also the inappropriate work relationship? Who randomly kisses their girlfriend in a professional, working setting where they meet with clients sort of... It also ends on some sort of weird standing where the child doesn't seem to be much of a priority.

Why did I torture myself?

There must be a reason why I just stick with historical/ wuxia dramas...they typically are plotted well enough to justify a long series. This series is only 16 episodes felt like 40 episodes but should have just been six episodes long. I won't go into the details because I wouldn't want to spoil anything but there are many plot holes and unnecessary plot devices that just did not do it for me. The only thing that saved this drama from getting 1 star is the actors/ actresses. The secondary couples did a great job making you root for them.

Watch this if you enjoy fluff...long flashback montages that last more than 30 seconds and a very unnecessary nonstory plot device that was there for...???? Not sure the purpose.

THE CHILD IS PRACTICALLY NON-EXISTENT

That's the major plot-hole of this story and I'm forewarning everyone who plans to pick this up because of that relation. Obviously, there is a child but the kid is merely the script/screenwriter's disposable tool to remind us Ling Xun Xun is actually a divorced mom because chances are, you'll be left wondering and questioning her being a mom.

Ideally, 'housewife divorcee with no kids in tow' would've aligned better with the story/drama title. Reading the synopsis, I was piqued and then misled. Truth is, the child is nowhere near to be seen as integral part in Xun Xun's rebooting milestone. It's unsettling and jarring knowing she is a housewife prior that and presumably spends larger part of her life in child-rearing but she's presented as solely 'divorcee' at most times - she hardly checks her kid. Her volition is disputable. I know this is a lighthearted rom-com which sort of makes it acceptable to passively ignore the fact but it ticks me off so so so much.

Apart from Xun Xun's situation, everything else is typical in drama-land. Cheng Li is a young and rich flower-boy CEO of his start-up business with a past to deal with. I would've liked him had he has redeeming edges but no, he's your usual childish and seemingly cold CEO. I don't dislike him though.

Onto plot, it's bland. Nothing amusing. Sure, there's a few giddy scenes however it's still bland. Acting is so-so. So why did I soldier on? The sismance. The sismance between Xun Xun and Zhou Quan is particularly endearing and rather a rarity in drama-land especially considering their social standing and circumstances.

It's not great.

I love noona romance cdramas, but this sure does not feel like one. FL is in her late twenties, has a child & is divorced, but acts like a shy 18 year old college student most of the time and her kid has largely no plot relevance. ML is the usual 24 year old domineering CEO, however he devolved into an insolent teen as the story progressed. His character is not very well acted either, the actor did FAR better in Sweet Teeth. I don't see much chemistry between the mains either. Yes, there is a lot of fluff, but it just feels too fake. Like seriously this drama has some of most forced (forced in the sense that it feels weird & fake) hugs and kisses I have ever seen in a romance drama. The reason why it's a 5 and not 3 is, because it's rather low on angst, there are no love triangles worth mentioning & there are just no villainous characters overall. Even the mom is unusually well behaved.
Also like half of the show takes place in a corporate setting, but the writers have forgone the usual crap that goes down in workplace cdramas.

-I must mention that the final reveal about the forgotten ehm incident was the most underwhelming thing ever & the rushed ending left a sour taste in my mouth.

-Also the second lead couple's story was just stupid, I'm sorry.

-As for the third couple, their story is basically educational content to teach us how much better it is to NOT be a sissy. The censors must have loved this.

I like the drama but not happy with ending.
So sweet love story having so many cute and romantic scenes. The way he shows his love to her was so romantic .his love towards her is just so so ...even I don't have words to express .He looked cute all the time ,the way he looked same is his love so pure, innocent and genuine .
But not satisfied with the last two episodes, it was looked like they completed the drama in hurry ....
The way his mother told her that don't find the truth it will hurt both of you but when she revealed the truth it went so ease it looked he knew this already but he pretend not to know ,not much sad expressions still he with the same expressions cute and innocent one .
Then the other character introduced in the end ,why they introduced that male character if he didn't have any scene .without him story can continue .

At the last when he proposed her she said no ,he can loved here but not ask about marriage .
I hope there is second season .....where he had a good family with she and dudu.
They should give the second lead couple more scenes ...
I am little disappointed with the ending ?

Easy binge when you feel a little blue

To put it simply, this is a sweet, angst light rom-com with a good amount of skinship. There are no evil villains, no nasty love triangle and even the mom is nice (to a degree). My only slight negative is that while there is a lot of hugs and kisses, there don't appear to be a lot of passion. It is more on the nice and sweet spectrum. The 2OTP had a bit more angst and spark but everything worked out just fine. The 3OTP is a bit of a long shot but hey, when you are on a rom-com row, you much as well pair everyone up and get the trifecta. Technically, there is even a 4OTP but who's counting! Being ONLY 16 episodes long kept things moving along nicely and spare us the notorious c-drama mid show drag. It is definitely one to binge when you are feeling a little down and need a warm hug.
