Octogenarian and the 90s (2021)

The storylines of these two dramas are totally different. However, there are similarities in terms of communal life. In both dramas, the characters live in closely knitted communities where residents watch out for each other. Our lead characters are entrusted the tasks that require them grow up fast. In "Go Ahead", Ling Xiao (Song Wei Long) is required to take care of his whole family at a very young age when tragedies strike. Here in this drama, Ye Xiao Mei (Janice Wu) becomes the caretaker of an old folks' home at a very young age too. The soundtrack "Fearless" which is one of the OSTs from "Go Ahead" is played here.

Both dramas also show the reality of life - kids grow up and parents/grandparents grow old. When younger, parents/grandparents take care of the kids. Now old, the kids reciprocate the duty. Both dramas are heart warming, funny and bitter sweet at the same time.

Young Vs old , etc and a lot of similar things.
Personally, I prefer Dear My Friends but the other is also really good

Similarities:
-Clashes between old school ways and city ways of life.
-Growth of leads both together (or because of each other) and separately.
-Comedic elements.
-Understanding, hard times, caring for your fellow man and neighbors.

this two look the same in the case of character development . finding them selfs
Janice wu got a character of He yu and also the male lead
both of them experience hurdles in life but make a way to a beautiful future
they both have slow-burned romance but that did not affect the drama
both dramas are a slice of life. we can learn a lot of things from these dramas and their ost also great

Can i just say it?
The plot of this drama itself tells us this is exactly similar in a different way.
Canola in return just tells us about how a girl so different and a grandma who is supposed to be dead, living together. While this drama shows us the same vibe in a different way

- Revolve about family bond, filial grandchild to their grandparent
- Story start with close acquaintance got cancer
- Have some comedy scenes
- FL of 'Octogenarian and The 90s' is Janice Wu who act as Chen Nanxing, Xu Hongdou best friend

- Close knit community.
- Family values above everything.
- Aging of parents/grandparents.
- Character development / personal growth.
- Reality check, no idol love.

So these are completely different genres; Octogenarians isn’t even a romance to begin with. But the warm atmosphere, healing qualities and the stories of different elders depicted reminded me of each other. Also Guo San Shuang is a dead ringer for Hong Du Shik, which should count for something.
