I hate it and idk why im rating it so high but lemme try to explain
To start, who tf made this absolute shit of a show. we need to talk. The storyline is trash. First, Ton acts homophobic af and acts like a typical ignorant homophobe that knows or learns nothing about gay people but just says ignorant stuff. Then they switch to Ton actually liking chon from when they were little. MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL WHEN U LOOK AT THE PAST FEW EPISODES AND HOW HE HAS BEEN ACTING. It felt like they wanted to make a plot twist and just put the first thing that came to mind. then they go on with that stupid "im straight but ur the only boy i will love" like BTICGYHJ.BUT. this drama is still pretty fun to watch if u take out all the shitty parts. a lot of the characters r so funny, i was laughing majority of the series. only reason i kept watching is for some of the characters.
Also whats with the part where chon almost got raped and they just let it go with a punch or 2...
Mariam was an amazing character but I hated the part where she kept calling herself a BL fan and was acting rlly weird whenever she seen Ai and Ni act lovey dovey. same with ton and chon. i get that they were tryna make her like a relatable character or whatever since this is literally directed towards girls fetishizing gay relationships but ew just let me watch it in peace.
hated it but loved it.

FUNNY BUT A REAL STORY
This is the second time I watched this series and this is still one of my favorite and unforgettable BL series.I like the story because it can really happen in real life, and above all its because I can relate ! I have been inloved with some boy I grew up with and like chon I faced so many problems specially being gay when I was young is really shameful and that the boy I liked was a straight so I can really relate here.
I liked the drama's being light , like it is easy to watch and not heavy in the heart, and was really funny and chons bestie is my favorite bestie here I think I want her to become my bestie too
also Tonhons house mates were so light in the eyes, I liked their being jolly, funny .. like everything
to be honest I was really rooting for this couple but too bad that Kaotung had an another BL partner , but its okay.
also Plappod became my crush because of this drama.
all in all I got what I expected , really nice to watch ❤️

This one is much better than most people think.
It was a Fun and Light RideOk let me start by saying i have my fair dose of Bl Dramas. And i like any type. When it comes to BLs iam not that picky. Most of them are about school/Uni love and after watching many , the story and the plot all seems one and the same. The details, differ them, like actors and their skills, direction, production, etc.
Ofc iam always excited when a fresh BL comes out with a compelling story and interesting chars. And no,Tonhon Chonlatee,is not one of them.It belongs to the left pile among with dozens of other similar Bls.But that is totally fine with me,as long as i have fun and i was entertained while watching.
I was way too sceptical to start this. The reason is obvious. The really bad rating and reviews made me postponed this for a very long time. But because i know myself at the end iam not discouraged by all the bad comments and i gave this a try to form my own opinion. My testimony?
This one was more funny and enjoyable than some other "highly rated" BLs out there.
It was the perfect choice for a relaxed weekend, without much thinking and seriously, with a good laugh. It was exactly what i needed and Tonhon Chonlatee didn't fail me.
Yes most likely i will forget all about it in a week or so,but i had so much fun watching it,i laughed a lot and i fond of all the characters.
Nothing is exceptional here. From production and direction, music and acting, everything was pretty decent. And that was enough for me not to drop it.I said when it comes to BLs im not that choosy, but hey, i still have my standards!Lol!
And believe me i have watched many 8+ rated which were the hell way too worse than this very poorly 7 rated one.Is not a masterpiece. Is not the perfect BL you can find. You will not find strong messages and rebellious characters willing to change the world by their actions.
Take it as it is.A light, funny comedy, with a cute romance between handsome guys, and a small dose of the necessary melodrama. A bitchy annoying ex-girlfriend,homophobic parents and an asshole "i hate gays" main lead.Sounds too familiar, right? So why all those negative reviews, like noone has ever watched another BL similar to this with the same problematic characters, the same angst and the same "i don't like men,i like you" trope??Why all got so surprised like was the first time we encounter same topics? In my opinion it doesn't deserve all this hate.Don't get me started by comparing story and acting with some "Great Hits" which comes to my mind right now. And,there are many...Obviously iam not imposing my opinion to anyone.
I stand for my opinion, though.I loved the most the secondary couple.Ai and Nai were absolutely hilarious, couldn't stop laughing every time they were on screen.Pang was a good and supportive friend to Chon.Na, was another great character and although his screen time was too limited he made the difference and i wish his role was bigger. This kind of characters always are memorable. As for Chon's Mother! What to say!Pure gold! She was there to balance Ton's father.Homophobic, yes! But why everyone was upset by this character,i really don't get it.Iam not saying being homophobic is the right attitude, jeez, ofc not.But don't forget he is a parent and as a parent he normally wanted to have grandkids. And Ton-right or wrong-never gave the impression to his parents that he is into men.I mean c'mon he didn't even admit this to himself. So "hating" Dad's char is not reasonable.
(and without spoiling too much the last episode turned all the wrongs into rights!)
We are not living in the perfect world and i don't like to watch perfect characters in Dramas too.Unfortunately Homophobia is a fact.Look around you.We are far from Utopia, iam afraid. It would be great if everyone accepted everyone's differences.
It would be awesome if homophobic parents/brothers/relatives/friends and co-workers did not exist..As i said ..Utopia.
As for the story itself and the course it took at some point,If i had to blame someone here, this would be Ton and only him.He should had admitted his own feelings sooner. He should had treated Chon differently and not trying to make him act "manly"He shouldn't had kissed that crazy bitch, causing so many misunderstandings.
But on the other hand if none of these ever happened how the strory would progress?I too often read complains about many Dramas, any Genre, about the story and how the plot goes.Iam not a writer but what is inside their head is not always messy and lame, lol. We as viewers must understand that most of the time everything happens for a reason.Iam not the kind of viewer who wants to go from point A to point Z too fast.I can take annoying and irritating plot-line,dislikeable characters and surreal incidents when helps the story to go on.Iam not reffering to this one, just a general comment.
Many were over thinking and over analyzing the story here.I mean ok,nobody wants to watch BS and surely we don't want the writers to underestimate our intelligence. But as i already said, take it as it is.A funny and light BL comedy. Why everything has to be sooooo serious especially in this Genre? There are other genres with a serious and heavy plot and there iam way too strict and i do criticize a lot when iam not satisfied with the plot.I got myself into BLs mostly because it is a light watch and not so demanding.Ofc there are serious BLs with great messages, unique story, character development and so on.And Tonhon Chonlatee from the very first episode didn't take itself too serious, giving the right vibe to the viewer of what to expect. At least this is how i interpreted it.
Iam sorry this review is too long. Its because i have the tendency to defend Dramas when i like them and especially when my opinion is totally opposite of the majority!

Lets be fair and break this down
So its 2024 in May and I, just moments ago, finished this show.- The Actors-
Let me start off by saying it was new for me to see Khao with someone other than First and I had previously seen Pod in Kiss me again and Dark Blue Kiss staring TayNew. I also of course have seen Neo in just about everything, also Mike and Top in 2gether. Jan who played mirim in great shows like cupids last wish and more recently cherry magic!
This cast was phenomenal, you cant say any of them are bad at acting and anyone who says that is just being a hater for no reason. I especially loved Pods performance when delivering sincere lines and Jan when she was being a comedic genius!
-The Plot- I realize this was adapted for the screen from a novel so please forgive me, i didnt read that novel yet.
The plot wasn’t the best i will admit but it got a solid C grade from me because there was humor, romance, butterfly inducing moments, and real experiences that LGBTQIA+ go through. I don’t know about any of you but I had a hell of a time coming out to my family. I was disowned even. I experienced homophobia at school. I wanted my first partner to not tell anyone. These aren’t just tropes used in movies or shows. These are real lived experiences.
To all of the people angry about the homophobia, thats valid, but its real. It happens that way. Peoples reasoning is the same that I heard flung my direction.
To the scenes that didnt make sense, how did the personal photo of Ton from chons phone make it on the internet? That was never addressed or explained.
I felt bad for Neos character, Na. He deserved more of a character arch than being selfless and helping Ton realize his feelings for Chon. It would have made sense to have pang develop a relationship with him after seeing how kind and generous he was with chon.
Now lets discuss the 3 year time skip and random input of surrogacy. I was actually happy about this because again its very real experiences for Queer couples. They hire a surrogate or ask a friend to assist. Its a meaningful way to still have children of your own and not go through discriminating processes like adoption or fostering. I wish they wouldnt have rushed the ending and gave us more information about that process and didnt just imply that TonChon were married now. Chon would be just graduating college i cant forsee that being a realistic timeframe to raise a child.
The elephant in the room… that near rape scene in the bathroom had absolutely no follow up or consequences for that person. It made little sense to me how Chon would have let him be disrespectful a few scenes later when he refused to give chon those study guides he was passing out. He deserved to be kicked out of school or at least arrested.
Now to everyone who was comparing the lack of consequences for the near rape to the treatment of amp for what she did, please dont. Those are 2 separate issues. We should call out homophobia, we shouldnt be polite to bigots. They should be ostracized and lose status. I didnt feel bad for amp once. Does that mean the near rape should have been excused or skipped over? No. That was careless of the writers and I hope the book didnt intend it that way.
- OverAll-
This show was funny, interesting, an unexpected treat to watch. I would definitely watch it over again because I think the acting was so well done, but i would skip a couple scenes that I had mentioned.
If you got this far, thanks for reading my rant. 💜🫂

+5 for the cast,- 5 for wasting their time and talent
Disappointment is an understatement to describe this show.Imagine hiring podd, khao, janhae, ciize to participate in this hot mess. The storyline was all over the place. However, the problematic nature of tonhon was the worst part. His character being the all cocky macho that does not treat or deserve chonlate at all. Besides that, i really hated the crazy ex girlfriend plot point as well, boring and cliche as always.
The way they could have salvaged this show if only they stuck to book’s story, they strayed so far from the book to create a more dramatic show only to fail miserably. In the original book, tonhon was not an asshole. He was a masculine guy but no the point of oozing toxicity,he was supportive his queer friends and accepting of chonlate who was feminine by nature only to gradually realise he was interested in him. In the show, they’ve damaged this character beyond repair with minimal if not no redeeming qualities. As for chonlate, he was supposed to be unapologitically feminine with his pink items and shorts, unafraid to be his authentic and true self. However, the adaptation killed chonlate’s confident personality, made him less feminine and instead an awkward and meek guy who harbored a secret crush on his toxically masculine childhood friend. A total 180 degree flip in characters’ natures and important plot points of the original piece.
The best part of this show if there’s any to begin with….should be the cast. I love these set of actors, they can and will definitely deliver a good performance granted the script is good and suitable for them. But I’m sure we are past the point of believing that considering the script was garbage. I can see that they tried to work with it and they did alright for their roles despite the very poorly written script.
Other than the script and acting, every other aspect is not even worth brushing upon. The cinematography, lighting, cameraworks, bgm were all bland and was somewhat decent for the time the show aired, nothing stellar or special but nothing to complain much about either.

i loved the parts i didn't hate
i loved all the parts that i didn't hate. concept and kissing was a 2016 B which is a 2020 C minus/D. But I liked the silliness of the production a lot and I have warm feelings for so many of the actors in this, especially Mike and Toptap playing a couple which makes their enemies status in Mama Gogo even funnier to me. It aims big on social commentary amongst the humor and then fails on so much of it. There's some content warning worthy bad guy scenes so I can't even rec it as a mindless romp even though I'd want to. So close to good and yet so very far.(but seriously, even for GMMTV, what was up with the kissing cut-aways in this?)

Feel good drama!
I almost MISSED out this gem because of this low rating it gets here, when it turns out to be ONE OF MY FAV NOW!I've learnt to follow my heart and forget about rating. It depends on what ya looking for in a drama.
If you looking for feel good drama to relax, enjoy and warm your heart, this is for you. Is storyline super special? No. But, that doesn't make this drama less ordinary!
I've seen toxic drama with higher rating than this! This drama might be simple but it is also its purity and innocence that made it so cute to watch!
Sometimes, a simple, cute, relaxing drama that makes you smile from ear to ear, laugh from your belly and warm your heart is what we need. This is exactly what this drama makes me feel and I hope you would enjoy the sunshine and sweetness this drama has for you too :)

Read all the bad reviews and watched it anyway
It's pretty clear that YMMV with this series. I thought I was gonna hate watch it, but it became more nuanced than that.Chon's mom and his friend Na are basically BL unicorns. There's also several other supporting characters who add a lot of comedy.
TW: attempted rape--One big problem that I didn't see get resolved was any consequence for Nueng. It's disappointing, but pretty much what happens in real life for the vast percentage of rapes. Even if criminal charges had never been pressed, I would have liked to see them confront Nueng for his actions beyond that punch Ton threw.
The homophobia is present throughout. I don't see it as much of a negative because the series does portray Ton's father as the one with a problem, and he does get a vicious comeuppance from Auntie Nam. The writing did feel a bit rushed at the end, but meh. I also was not as put out about Miriam acting as a surrogate. Hell yeah she chose an option that got her millions and a nice house. That's her agency at work, y'all.
Probably the most annoying thing about this series was the evil ex-girlfriend. Can we get more evil ex-boyfriends? Or just, you know, move away from evil ex plots in general?

Not the greatest plot but very addictive
I believe that it's not a waste of your time to watch it because the addiction has its mindblowing. you can easily connect and get shivers while watching. It is true though that the script and the acting is kinda..... let's say not oscar-worthy but I really enjoyed and definitely recommend it. They both are so cute together that you just cannot stop watching the show because it so short you don't realize it.The best character is definitely chon's mum, you will love her because she is sooo iconic and has a few remarkable quotes
Heads up: Maybe my good review is determined by the fact that this is my first thai bl drama

Just go watch it u won't regret it .
This show is so underrated , i literally didn't watch it for a long time because of the reviews but if you have seen tharntype and theory of love and liked it u will enjoy this show much more . Ton acts homophobic no doubt but I think he has solid reason to it if u see his dad's reactions after he discovers the truth u will not be that mad at ton . It's not easy to ignore your parent's ideologies especially when u r not yet independent and sometimes u just give in . But chons love helps ton grow as a person , become braver and kinder .As the series progresses it's obvious ton is not nearly as homophobic as he acts he not only chooses his friends and chon over everything he doesn't think twice before apologizing .Chon is adorable and loyal but towards the end he shows he can be bold and feisty when he wants to be . Chons mom is one of the highlights of the series .She is a total badass. The show isn't typical bl , its one of the very first romcoms and that's why it has its own set of flaws . But if you r not too sensitive u will find this show fluffy and cute and hilarious . Ai and ni have such cute chemistry u want them to have there own seperate series . Na is love perfect boyfriend material . Pang is the best friend everybody wishes for protecting chon even when she's drunk , I don't care what people say these series hit me in all the right spots . I m sorry I m not good at writing reviews but I just want to convince everyone to go watch it .let's be real we have seen more than enough imperfect bls and we have loved them .Was this review helpful to you?

There were some good parts, and I liked a lot of the characters, but honestly for a gay show it was really quite homophobic lol, especially the finale. The instance on using female/male gendered terms for mlm couples, Chon being 'godfather' to Ton's child, Ton being 'straight except for Chon', the very bizarre redemption arc for Ton's dad where he said it was okay for Ton and Chon to be together as long as Ton had a child, and everyone suddenly forgiving him and doing exactly what he wanted despite his aggressive homophobia through out. The storyline had potential. Chon is a really likeable character, his friendship with Pang is very sweet and Ai, Ni and Miriam worked well as side characters but besides that the rest just really fell through. Frustration The Series
So this was a very complicated series for me. Some choices made in it I loathed, where others I quite liked. It was literally like a seesaw, going back and forth between lows and highs. One of the most significant problems with this show was in fact the pacing of it. It was sooooo bad. There was so much unnecessary filler that could've been scrapped all together because it didn't influence the plot or characters at all. It was mostly done (I think) for fan service or comedy? But it didn't land. We didn't need so little of progression and then in 1 episode BAM everything gets going at full speed. It was a weird choice and could've been fixed fairly easily. When the show started I was into the premise. I loved that we got a solid cast of side characters. Ai and Ni were great, but what else do I expect from Mike & Toptap lol. They had so many good moments in this show together as a steady couple, they were so much fun to watch. You better smack your mans ass on the dance floor lmao! I also really liked How Chon, Na and Pang were a trio. Like he had a good support system backing him up the entire time. Chon's mom and Miriam were also great, what sassy queens they were! Then we get into Ton himself, which is where a huge chunk of my problems with this show surface from as well. I absolutely hated him for 95% of this show straight up (the character obviously not the actor, him I love). His dialogue for awhile heavily consists of homophobic and sexist speech, while also being way too abrasive/handsy. He was rude and super disrespectful at times to people around him including Chon. He also became very VERY possessive and violent which we don't vibe with. Jealousy can bring out stupidity, however Ton had literally zero say over who Chon associated with/dated and his toxic attitude got on my nerves. I understand a lot of it can be chalked up to internalized homophobia, the homophobic dad putting pressure on him and lack of coping skills when it comes to his emotions. But even with that in mind it was too much and I didn't like him. Sure I didn't like other characters too like the ex girlfriend, but she's meant to be hated throughout.
There were serious times where I said out loud I would've preferred Chon having ended up with Na instead. It started with him taking the drinks from Chon that were being forced on him. Super sweet. Na's character actually ended up becoming my favorite! At first he was kinda obnoxious, but in a funny way. Then we see him develop into a kinder person, who gives out food to people in need. He uses the "rich" thing as a way to try and make friends and be wanted. Which I freaking called from the start! Honestly, Na deserved better in this series. He got the 2 leads together with his speech, he got his heart broken for the sake of his also best friend, and he's a pansexual king. We stan. Like I said before, Ton I still didn't like by literally episode 7. Dude was an airhead pouty b****, but like I said before there's an episode where it literally goes from 0 to 100 so quickly and that's when Ton and Chon actually get together. So that happens very quickly, which wasn't the worst. However, Ton's character does a literal 180 and it bothered me. He becomes super cutesy and extra, I didn't like that all of a sudden were supposed to root for him. I needed more time to warm up to the idea of forgiving him for everything else. It doesn't just go away once love "blossoms" or whatever.
So because there's so much filler in this series, I literally have to skip so much unnecessary trash and get to the finale. In few words, it sucked really badly. It was weird, confusing and uncomfortable to watch. We all of a sudden are supposed to accept that a surrogacy is happening with Ton's baby. What in the actual f***? It's literally done to "appease" Ton's disgusting father. Like it literally made my skin crawl. And what's worse is Miriam is the one chosen to do this. We literally get a flash forward of 3 years and she's pregnant. This is done like she was kinda forced upon it by the father and I hated it so much. The situation with the heir was messed up to begin with and the fact that it takes THAT for the father to accept them. While also not even considering if Ton wants to be a father at all! Or how he basically shoves the "responsibility" of grandkids onto his daughter too. Gross. I especially hated that because as a woman who doesn't ever want children it's infuriating to see it play out like this. None of this was acceptable and its played off like it was such an easy solution. Then THEN the father has a stroke and apologizes? Like wtf 100 to 0 real quick and it just didn't make any sense at all. He's unforgivable, period. The only good parts about that finale was Na getting a manz and Chon's mom wanting to whoop Ton's fathers ass.
I also wanted to mention another huge issue that I had with this series. So we had a great discussion about why it was wrong for Chon to kiss Ton while he was asleep. It was brought up and the mom set it straight. However, then we also get in this series a literal scene of Chon getting assaulted in the bathroom by an upperclassmen. And nothing happens from it. They just gloss over it and move on. NO, absolutely not. There should've been repercussions and that character is seen again so it's not like it's just a random plot device (which is also wrong). How frustrating this series was. Like I said some things I enjoyed, most of them being the lighter hearted stuff. But the heavier subjects were handled awfully and I don't think I can just look past them. I will leave with a quote though from the show that I liked.
"Being different isn't disgusting, but the one who hates the one who is different is the one who is disgusting."
