The last foe is a new "Death", created by man. To solve the Kira Case, L leaves Los Angeles convincing Kira is in Japan. At the same time, his intuition tells him that he may never be able to return to Los Angeles again. Known as Kira, Light Yagami, using the Death Note, attempts to become God of a criminal-free new world. By L's ultimate choice, the Kira Case closes, but, at the same time, L loses Watari, who was his most trusted partner. After losing Watari, L takes on the task of solving the cases left in the later's file. As all the cases are solved, a "gift" addressed to Watari arrives. The gift is a little boy. From the SD card the boy has in his possession, L learns that the child is the only survivor of a Thai village that was exterminated. L also discovers that a huge conspiracy, utilizing a man-made virus, was on the move behind the Thai village tragedy. Meanwhile, L has another visitor. The girl's name is Maki, and she tells L that she has brought something her father, who died a horrible death, told her to deliver to Watari. As L realizes the item the girl brought is, indeed, the virus in question, pursuers are closing in. Protecting the two children, L physically makes moves to solve the horrendous case. However, he only has six days to solve the case. Edit Translation

Reviews
The story itself is original. Because I am from a biology major, I can say that the science feature is realistically made. The details are great (except for some details when they actually works with virus without any protection in some scenes). The flow of the story actually great (actually I don't understand why other people said it's crappy). It flows nicely, dragged in some parts, but overall it's really nice.
The acting: we all agree that Kenichi Matsuyama already portray's L's character really nicely.. His character is absolutely lovable. The other main character is especially good. The minor characters are also good. Nothing to complain.
The music: nothing much remarkable though. But memorable enough to build the atmosphere.
Rewatch value: truth to be told, I am not a person who actually rewatch the movies I've watched before. But this movie, I actually rewatch it (although it took a long time before I actually watch it again) It still left me amused even after watching it twice..
Overall, this movie is one of my favorites. The first and second movie of Death Note is good too, but apart from that, L is my favorite character, and I loved to see him again as the main hero.. Not only actions, this story contains moral value that we can learn.. Yes, overall, I recommend this movie :)
This film seems to have nothing to do with the fist two death notes, except for the fact that L's in it. But this film could be a completely unrelated film if it wanted to be. It doesn't even feature a death note.
For this reason I'm going to review this movie as if it was a seperate film from the death note series...
The acting was good, L is such a loveable character that he doesn't even have to say anything for you to like him. The child actors used in this film were suprisingly good for their age.
The storyline was fair, it was slow at parts and sometimes it didn't make sense to me, I wasn't sure if that was the writing or the tranlastion I watched. But I was satisfied by the ending.
I don't really remeber anything about the music. It wasn't impressionable, therefore neither good nor bad. I would have noticed if a song was completely out of place.
Overall I would say watch this movie, but don't expect it to be anywhere near as good as the first two movies. I would watch it again again just to watch L. No regrets!
