It's worth watching!!

I was on iqyi app and this was there on suggestions .
Firstly I didn't want to watch it as I never heard the story title or any other things , but then after few days I saw title of this drama again on YouTube so I just give it a try to watch the trailer . I found it really amazing and comedy .
Then I decided to watch it .
And believe me , since then I have watched it like 4/5 times already . I literally loved the cast specially the main lead from mr fox and Miss Rose . I loved the entire storyline . It's really worth to watch it . Just give it a try ??

This was really good solid story
Started very well, hilarious and connected
Till episode 12
Then became draggy, with repetitive dialogue and boring events

The events towards the end starting from episode 17 became messy and disconnected and the romance became very lukewarm and cold

Mainly it was talking about helping cats

The couple's stories used to be parallel to each other in the drama
Then they dropped other couples for long time

The most annoying part was when the FL got hurt and the ML wished she became ok
Then all around her forget about her
So they should repeat the whole story from the beginning with a little bit different events

Sure that was for filling the story
This drama could be amazing if they reduce it just for 16 episodes

The ML character was ok then cute then annoying and appears coward and very weak, physically and personality,
according to someone who is playing sport he was so weak
the last scene annoyed me as hell
he let lin mo got beated alot,
while he was just watching without giving any help

the psycho character wasn't placed well or having any good reason for what he did

instead of all these draggy useless details during the drama
they could have more scenes about the past,
giving the psycho dr. good reasons for what he did

The end was ok and happy for all parties
Except for the ML which I saw him failed till the end,
He didn't take the right of the novels he wrote from his brother,
and his action towards his mom was very fluid

But really I expected a lot from this drama specially it was written in a solid way at the beginning
I got very frustrated and lost my interest during ep. 17

Just to watch once

fun sweet good solid story

this is a fun sweet and really well acted and written story..

everything here ties together nicely.. the acting and the interaction of the cast between each other is so well done..

they look like they've known each other for years.. or been in the industry for yrs...

everything just works well between the cast

the story is solid and gives everyone closure and growth.. like true closure and growth... even the 2 finishes was great...

u basically want to be any one of the 3 couples shown.. ud love to be their friends.. and cheer them on.. u wil smile on the story parts that are trope romcom parts but done so well

just watch it.. its really a good show.. a nice reset for the next heavy drama on ur list

or when u need just a smile on ur face

PLEASE READ -- I'LL WARN YOU before I start SPOILING

This is my 5th Chinese series. RUYI'S ROYAL LOVE IN THE PALACE, MISSING PERSONS, REBEL PRINCESS and IMPERFECT LOVE preceded. This was my first 'junky' or 'bubblegummy' series, what we in America might call a 'CW' show aimed at teens or younger. I'm here to tell you it's far better than I expected -- a must watch if you want something lighter -- but they didn't quite stick the landing, as they say in Olympics.

Okay. What is this show without spoilers? It's kind of like the 60's classic I DREAM OF JEANNIE... but they change so much it takes a few episodes to realize how similar it is. In many ways it is an improvement because JEANNIE lacked a compelling romantic story whereas MAKE A WISH is all about our two leads. Not to mention other couples in the story as well.

THE REASON TO WATCH THIS SERIES are the standout performances:

#4 is Chen Hao Lan who plays a more serious young lady in the series, but as the story progresses you see her art is subtly and nuance. They pulled her pretty back a few notches (as to not compete with the lead) but it eventually peeked thru.
#3 is Wang Tian Yu, the 'Roger Healey' of this series and comic relief. This kid is FUNNY.
#2 is Zhu Min Xin, whose small role in this series stood out anyway. He is lead material for future projects!
#1 is the WOW and WONDER that is Gia Ge. This young lady SPARKLES. Her beauty is beyond belief. Her energy and charm is why you finish watching this series. Producers must be fighting tooth and nail to get her right now. I'll watch anything she shows up in next. And she must have the best hair on TV. Check out when Chi Yan lifts and spins her in the closing credits. WOW.

That list leaves out the male lead. Ren You Lun was terrific. Yet his perfectly under-stated performance doesn't make me wonder what he'll be in next, if you know what I mean. So no slur against him. He's the 'straight man' that makes Gia Ge shine all the more. I think young ladies drawn to cats and bookstores will adore him.

When I watch any show I rarely notice the hairstylist. You're kinda not supposed to notice their work. But when I realized Gia has the best hair on TV -- I noticed each cast member has interesting hair as well. And so I guess the stylist was showing off a bit and hoping nobody noticed. (I did!)

So before I start spoiling, I'll say this series was likely 4 episodes too long. I sensed everyone on the production was younger and less experienced, and this became clear in the writing towards the end. Before I pick it apart know the series is worth watching, rewatching, and recommending anyways.

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Around episode 20 we get an extremely dramatic twist: cat girl awakes on an Earth that doesn't remember her. Her relationship with Chi Yan is erased, as well as the love affairs of their mutual friends. This is really REALLY dramatic and fascinating at first. But then it sends the story into an unnecessary spiral of trying to repair all the damage. This repair job is compressed into the final episodes and I started to feel... the entire idea... was stupid.

Perhaps they were planning a 2nd series... or second 'arc' with 24 more episodes. That would have made the 'everyone forgot her' a fantastic cliffhanger at the end of Season 1. Right? It's as if the following episodes were really supposed to be much longer and season of their own. But then someone said that was a stupid idea.

I'll share with you now what I think is a better cleaner way to end the series.

1. Xiao Xiu gets hit on the head with the pipe. Falls down like we saw. Chi Yan runs over to comfort her.
2. As her friends gather around her, her ears emerge. She cries. Panics in front of Chi Yan. Her tail emerges. Her friends are all WTF.
3. She transforms into a cat. Chi Yan picks her up, holds her close, but she disappears into a portal. Gone.
4. Xiao awakes in Meow World, an animated cat. There she meets Lin Mo and his friend, who are confused as to why she is there. Eventually her Dad finds her and, despite being happy to see her, knows where she really belongs: alongside Chi Yan. The problem is Xiao has no way to return to Earth.
5. Her Dad takes her to a temple and ask the elders for help. They say there is nothing they can do.
6. Chi Yan on Earth is distraught. Ruined. The friends can't believe she was a cat. But find it magical.
7. On Meow Planet, in the temple, Xiao's Dad won't stand for this. Since Lin Mo has learned who killed his GF and Xiao's sister. Xiao prays at the Temple... and her Sister appears as a Goddess. (Instead of that other lady who they forced into the story.) Xiao is told she can make a wish to return to Earth, but this time -- she'll never leave it. Her father insists.
8. If you've seen this series notice what is now no longer necessary. What was with the new bookstore and the new apartment? A total waste of time. We loved the old ones. What was with Chi Yan's grandfather being connected to the cat world? I mean I get it but it wasn't really necessary. Which means neither was the goddess character. And why OH WHY destroy 3 love affairs only to quickly force them back into existence? No no no. All we needed --
9. -- was our 'Scooby Doo' club going back to Earth and finalizing the Doctor story. Oh, and his entire angle on why he did what he did wasn't the slickest. That needed some focusing. I got this weird VIBE that the Doctor was in love with Chi Yan and somehow this confused about everything. (Did you feel that too?)

I want to add the Gia Ge had to sell this bumpy ending -- and gave it her all. There was absolutely nothing more heartbreaking than watching this bubbly innocent soul LOSE EVERYTHING. Many dramas make 'the girl' cry here -- but she was beyond crying. It was like that look a kid gets when they first learn a loved one has passed on. Gia was a MARVEL here.

Anyway, if the story had ended more cleanly -- it would have been a 9.2 in my book. Still worth seeing at it is, though.

another cat themed drama I enjoyed guess this theme got its pearls

Got cute vibe, sadly I dont think chemistry of main pair was ok.
FL literally carried whole love story there while for ML they could just replace him for figurine and nobody would see difference.

plot - ML is outcast type which prefers interacting with animals and gets alienated with humans. He cares for animals in surrounding feeds them heals them. Once he takes injured white cat home to treat. But this white cat is FL. She is magical or alien being form different plane with power to shappeshift to human form.
Thanks ML saving FL she cant return home before returning favor and fulfilling MLs wish. Sadly ML is being which is quite accomplished in state of enlightenmen.

genre - romance

Cute story with a bit of mystery and fantasy

Great writing, great acting, what else can I say?? This is your typical rom-com but without basic tropes and a decent fantasy story. I'm usually not a fan of fantasy because I feel like they just make things up along the way and there are many inconsistencies. To be honest, I did find a few inconsistencies in the beginning but the acting really held the story together (all the lines came out so naturally, even the side characters). The mystery wasn't a surprise at all, but it was enough for you to keep watching. Its the kind of the storyline that isn't predictable right from the beginning but as you watch more you'll know whats coming and you're excited for the execution. Music matches the set, dubbing and production quality isn't bad. At first I was hesitant to watch this drama because I'm not completely comfortable with this interspecies relationship concept (its a male version of a cat-lady to a whole new level) but I enjoyed the production overall.

The mystery of who is hurting the cat?

For a person/cat romance its pretty cute, for a mystery/suspense it gets like a 6.5/7...

I have watched way too many cat/ human fall in love drama. This one doesn't wow! but its not boring. The interaction is quite cute. The female lead is a white car from the planet Meow Star. She is saved by the male lead. He is the owner of a used book story, pretty antisocial and likes to take care of stray cat. Before the cats can go back to Meow Star they have to fulfill a wish for their rescuer/helper. The male lead genuinely doesnt have a wish so the female lead sticks around him. She ends up getting a job at a bar. He meets this mysterious guy... Turn out this guy is also a cat ( but thats revealed a lot later)
Female lead reminds him of his girlfriend who died. He holds on a grudge and tries to find out who killed his girlfriend.

The reason why the male lead is so quiet and antisocial was due to this past. During high school ? he was falsely accused of torturing cats and feeding them poison. Fast forward , he is an adult and it so happens that many stray cats are dying.

The second male lead is the male lead's best friend and he is an veterinarian. Second female lead is classmate of male lead from high school and is currently a news reporter. together they uncover who is behind it all !

The important thing is the cat bookmark, which was left behind by female lead's grandmother cat and the male lead's grandpa. They couldnt be together so they left a catbook mark with some powers behind it....

My rant is that all of a sudden, they make the male lead forgot about the female lead... ( due to an accident...) while investigating the stray cat dying.

They also only take one episode to reveal who is the sadistic evil person behind it, how he discover the female lead is a cat and how they catch him ! thats too much to pack into one ep! And the explanation is not very good either( the wrap up of how h e got caught) Lol I mean thats the last ep, what happened... the editing crew? of script..... come on....

fluff!! perfect for a one time watch

Chinese dramas always have the weirdest plots especially around animals and I'm really not complaining! This is one of the good ones.
The show description looks like it's gonna be childish but they really made it work, somehow this show was pretty interesting and full of fluff. It's nothing too life-changing but perfect for a one-watch. The story has a few flaws here and there. But overall it makes it fun and cute throughout.
The relationship of the leads is so cute! I love how the female lead learned things quickly. The male lead was also kinda different from what is usually seen, his character development was nice to see.
There are no parts where I was bored or felt annoyed per se, which is great. But the fact that the drama is kinda hollow and doesn't do justice for some parts of the storyline is what leads me to reduce points. There are also some tropes thrown in when the writer got nothing else to write about.
Inconsistency in the storytelling was so evident which made me a bit confused about the story.
I love the actors! They all did so well especially the female lead. She's extremely pretty and a human "cat" character suited her very well! The casting is very well done.
The osts are all pretty and relaxing! I enjoyed hearing them.
Overall a good watch. Would recommend.

I absolutely loved this drama! It was a sweet rom com mixed with a little bit of fantasy and mystery. What made this drama special to me was the main leads. The FL was gorgeous and her performance as a cat-woman was so well done... I was impressed. FL was sweet and naive, yet independent, clever, and smart. Her subtle expressions and body movements were down to the detail and so cat like... I loved it!

The ML is a hidden gem! He completely brought to life an introverted bookstore owner in his 20's that wasn't the typical stone-faced, pretty yet cold ML, but a flannel wearing, slightly disheveled, good looking guy that we might meet in real life. ML has this boyish charm and charisma that is so appealing... there's something about him that makes me smile when he smiles. There's not only depth and substance to the characters he portrays, but ML is hilarious with his micro expressions and comedic beat.

I adored the natural chemistry between the FL and ML. They interacted as a couple would and their simple hugs made the drama so sweet, because she fit in his arms so comfortably. ML and FL looked at each other with such adoration, I never got tired of watching the two of them together.

The story line itself was interesting and although there were plot holes here and there, I was more than willing to overlook them. This was a sweet and fun rom com that was well done and I'm loving these actors because they are genuinely good at their craft (and they can sing too if you listen to the OST!).

Nearly Purrfect

I really enjoyed this light romcom that is truly fluffy. Literally!

The FL is absolutely adorable and bubbled over with cuteness. She did a great job with weaving in cat mannerisms throughout the series. For a rookie, her range of emotions were stunning. I could feel her joy and I could feel her desperation. In contrast, some said the ML was dull but I think it was intentional for him to be calm. He was a warm, safe place for FL and that is what cats like!

The story did begin to drag at the end even though I could tell they were trying to address certain things in the plot. I wish they could have given viewers a bigger glimpse into the life of our mains and all the other characters.

Lots of sweet skinship and ok kisses. Some are sorta awkward but it works because she is a cat and has never kissed before and he never had a girlfriend. I wouldn’t have minded if they threw in a slightly spicier night especially after episode 15 (IYKYK)

For cat and rom com lovers I definitely recommend this.

I Never thought.......

I would love this drama as much as I did. For as long as I have been a viewer of c-dramas I have always had an issue with skipping several scenes and even whole episodes ahead. I haven't been able to come across a drama that has hooked me from start to finish, until now.

If you are a lover of fantasy, humor, healthy relationships, lots of fluff with a dash of mystery, then I can confidently say this one might be for you!

The general plot of this drama focuses on a semi-reclusive young man named, Yu Chi Yan who writes for a living and manages a bookstore too. He is an animal lover, with a particular interest in cats. One day he saves a white cat that happens to be a girl from an alternate world. Together they go on a humorous journey, discovering things about themselves they never knew.

What I loved:

-The acting from the ML and FL, was wonderful. Their chemistry was spot on and their interactions were never lacking. I loved how they complimented each other, shy and broody male and spritely/cheerful female. I looked forward to every episode mainly because of this.

-Main leads friendship and later relationship was built on a foundation of trust and communication. There was hardly, if any, serious misunderstandings caused by lack of communication with each other. They told each other pretty much everything and talked their issues out in a timely manner. This was refreshing to watch, because many dramas opt for the toxic back and forth problem solving which is tiring and makes me too bored to fully pay attention.

-The cinematography was spectacular, the neighborhood, the bookstore, and the ML's home was all, so pretty and pleasant to look at. Although the characters didn't move to many new places, it was shot with skill making everything interesting to look at and to take in each time it was presented.

- One of my guilty pleasure, drama tropes, is "FL learning about the modern world," its a very specific storyline characteristic that I seldom can find expressed exactly how I like it, which is partially why this drama was such a gem to find for me. Because the FL was from a cat planet she had to learn how humans live on earth which was hilarious to watch coupled with the ML's frustration and bewilderment at her.

-Second ML and FL were so cute, loved that it was a pairing of a chic female and more goofy male, I have seen this type of coupling before but it added nice comic relief and really their story could be watched separately if you wanted to. While they did assist as side characters they had their own plot line a part from the main ML and FL so that was quite engaging.

What I hated: (Despite rating this drama highly, there are still things I cocked my eyebrow at, so bare with me)

SPOILER BEWARE!!!!!

-The mystery part was a little too obvious and the fact that the ML took too long to figure it out irked me to death. He was too caught up in reconnecting with his old pal, he didn't realize the one responsible for all the death and tragedy was right in front of him. Luckly this didn't cause a huge rift between him and the FL.

-THE AMNESIA OF IT ALL. When I tell you I was just about ready to snapppp my phone in half watching the last few episodes! I hated that they added this story arch, I hate this plot line in ALL dramas, its so stupid and really irritated me in this drama A LOT! Despite this, however, the ending was still so adorable and happy, so I still love this drama.

-Cat planet (insert sad face), I wish they added more visual information about it, the fantasy was there in every episode (cuz the girl turned into a cat obvi) but it didn't delve into overly specific details, which I felt were needed in some areas. I wanted to know more about what cat life on planet cat was like, but there was more focus on the human world, and the building of the ML and FL's relationship which for the record I didn't mind all that much. This was more of a romcom drama than fantasy drama in my opinion. This for me doesn't deduct points it just felt like it didn't "give" in the areas where it should have, namely the sister's storyline and demise....

Conclusion:

All in all , not a perfect drama but the perfect form of escapism with its non-stressful plot, humorous main lead relationship, refreshing couple dynamic and cute fantasy mystery trope. I would watch it all over again in a heart beat, (I'm in the process of forgetting it so that I can come back and rediscover it!) it relieved all my worries and transported me to a pleasant place full of absolute fluff and intrigue. I cannot recommend this drama more. It was not a 10/10 on a technical scale, but if you're looking for a pleasant distraction, its a must watch!
