Same investigative story line where male lead is a public legal official. As they continues to investigate cases together, their feelings for each other grows. Both stories have very good cases that you can't guess the outcomes. A rare gems of story writing that's not only focused on the romance plot development.
I would say the main characters are fairly simular though the FL in UTP seems like a cry baby at times. It also has the investigation element since they try to solve cases together
In both dramas, Fl's family is wrongly charged of treason who then takes the charge of saving the family. Ml is in very powerful position and tries to help fl.
-Very smart/confident FLs and wiley/powerful MLs. (FL/ML maybe more clever/cunning in Ming Lan)
-Both manipulate people/situations in their favour; in particular both FL/ML families. The FLs are underdogs.
-Both try to comically outsmart each other initially, but grow together and end up a power couple backing each other up.
-Both FLs like another man initially.
-Both are slow-burn Historicals (Ming Lan more slow-burn, and has more episodes)
-Both met when they were younger, when young MLs helped FLs out of a tough spot.
-Ming Lan is maybe a bit more authentic with a slower pace, lots of characterisation and character growth.
**I'll update again when Autumn Ballad is finished airing.

Same type of energy and chemistry between the leads. In both dramas both leads are smart and have deductive reasoning and work together to resolve problems.
They have a bickering type relationship and the FL is engaged to someone else and becomes a social pariah while ML is affiliated with officers etc.

I finished this series while waiting for episode 13 to drop.
It's Sunday night, I just finished ep 54. It was a good drama. It was very slow, but a relatively happy ending. At times, main lead was a little frustrating but at the same time admirable.
If you want something serious, minor romance (although many actions done for love), court politics and battle strategies with strong female leads then this might be for you.
Leave you to check it out for yourself.

Both FL are intelligent, justice-minded investigators. Both are unfavored and ill-treated by wicked families. And both are being pursued by two men who are equally intelligent, inquisitive investigators seeking justice for themselves as well. Both dramas have great “whodunnit” plot lines with consistent romance throughout.
I am getting vibes of Jeremy Tsui’s characterization of the ML in The Autumn Ballad. Both MLs appear to be ruthless and power hungry but they are actually working to enact revenge. They protect the FL but seemingly unwillingly. The interaction between leads are similar. The FL is smart in both dramas but masks her intellect due to family upbringing and her role within.
