Twenty-one year old former high school baseball player, Kohei (nickname: Bussan), learns that he is dying from cancer. He is told that he only has six months to live, and decides that he wants to do something daring and risky. He proposes to five trusted members from his former baseball club that they form a ring of cat burglars that would steal from those who commit crimes. His friends think it odd, but feel they cannot turn down a dying man's request. With only six months, how much could they do anyway? (Source: TBS) Edit Translation

Wow, I think I really fell in love with this type of street group of friends' type of show. Kisarazu Cat's Eye just made me love it right after the first minutes.

The general story is very simple, a little stupid but somehow serious. Since the drama is principally a comedy, every episode is on its own, and every episode's story has a ingenious structure:
The episode goes on with its story, usually ignoring one of the main characters who is seen in the background, with one or two little moments that don't make a lot of sense; in the end the gang reaches magically the ending and then the episode loops back to show the role of the character previously ignored, linking him to the non-sense moments (clarifying them) and explaining the ending reached before. This structure is just wow.
The show nicely handles the comedic part and mixes it with some awesome drama. I almost cried on the last episode.
The ending was rushed and the series is only 9 episodes long which is a little bit disappointing.

The acting was really well done. It has a weird kind of humor, especially in the facial expressions, which was priceless. The characters were really good, especially Ozzy.
The music really surprised me. The soundtrack is actually really good, the ending is awesome but the songs in the music episode were meh.

This series can be easily recommended to anyone, it's accessible, it's hilarious, it's not something specific to a kind of taste, it's just: watch it and enjoy it.

When I watched the first episode all I kept thinking was, "Wow, there is some serious cheesy acting going on here!" I'm not sure why I continued watching this series but I am so glad that I did. It was well worth it. The cast was pretty good (aside from the mega-cheese factor), the music was bearable (though a tad on the outdated side), and the plot was fairly unique. I highly recommend this series (you just have to push through the cartoon facial expressions, random singing, and low-tech special effects here and there).
