I was lovestruck by this series
The plot is so refreshingly unique and the way the interviews are conducted also suits the series themes and vibes. It made it more interesting. The characters' chemistry is definitely something that is worth praising specially EunO, RinI and Geon's friendship. They're so cute to look at and it makes you want to wish that you have friends like them too.
I really enjoyed watching this short series and it was just feel good. I recommend this to anyone who just wants to watch, laugh and maybe cry a little. It's such a good drama to watch. I loveeeee it.

one of the best ROMCOM out there
i LOVE this drama so much! its one of those dramas that i thought would be mid but it had me SCREAMING, CRYING, THROWING UP every episode. for me this drama served balance, there is a good amount of Romance, Comedy, and Emotional scenes and i absolutely love that. Ji Changwook and Kim Jiwon are perfect for the romcom genre. Ji Changwook does the clingy, sulky, and borderline insane romcom male lead so well like for real and i adore Kim Jiwon's character here. I completely understand her and she is so valid for doing all the things that she did, I relate to her character so much. In my opinion, episode 16 felt more like a proper ending than episode 17. episode 17 felt kinda out of place and weird to me, its like a spin off just to tell the story of dongsik and haena and its not that i didnt like that its just that it made the drama a bit messy. For rin-i and kyeongjun, im completely in favor of how their entire story played out, for me their differences is not something you can just work out so i think im satisfied over their ending but for Geon and Seonyeong, im like 50-50 about it. The conclusion of their story feels both right and wrong to me. Anyways, if you're looking for a romantic comedy drama with a good amount of emotional and heart shattering moments, Lovestruck in the City is perfect for you <3Was this review helpful to you?

Lovestruck by this drama
I have to say that ji chang-wook's character comes off too strong and is a bit much at showing his affection towards her in like such a short time period they've known each other, but honestly he's really cute. Also, somehow the laugh of choi tae-joon's character in Suspicious Partner has become the laugh of jae won. That bromance moment at the bus stop was too cute.
Woaw every story is connected in ways I didn't expect. OMG THEY'RE PLAYING THAT GAME I USED TO PLAY AS A KID, THAT 5 CARD GAME. SHOOK. That was such an unexpected throwback.
Lol, jae won frequenting that one precinct to cry about the camera thief that stole both his heart and his cameras. I died laughing and the same thing with sun young fighting with her then boyfriend because they need to strip since she bought all of their clothing and since she's breaking up with them she needs it back. I honestly can't, this is too funny. Also, my heart really aches for jae won. My poor bby. My heart truly aches for him because he loved her so freaking much. I'm really crying for him since she continuously stepped on his heart. I'm really beginning to hate that girl and I honestly don't want him to end up with her because she's truly a Bitch. I wanted this to be a happy show, I was expecting this to be a happy show, but instead I'm sobbing like a baby because my heart aches so much for jae won. The girl is really toying with his feelings, giving mixed signals and all. I really hate her. I REALLY WANT TO SLAP HER.
Omg the two exes are really really hilarious.
Jae won's nephew is me and I will be really curious how he will react when he finds out that his friend broke his hyung's heart.
I love how the police station sided with jae won even though he was later against it & everyone in the precinct was like YOU ARE A THIEF AND DUDE WE'RE NOT LETTING HER GO AFTER YOU'VE VISITED US 6 TIMES DRUNK. This is too funny. And now I'm even thinking of dropping it because that BITCH... THAT MOTHERFUCKING BITCH... *insert all the swear words you can think of* THAT BITCH IS EVEN REPAYING HIS KIDNESS OF NOT WANTING TO PRESS CHARGES AGAINST HER BY LYING HE GAVE THE CAMERAS TO HER. OMO I CAN'T HANDLE THIS I'M SO UPSET FOR MY BABY.
Also, the whole reason why this girl ghosted, evaded him was just complete bullshit and nothing can justify what she did. As someone who has hated, despised, loathed herself for years (you name it, I've probably done it) and to be honest I think that's in no way an excuse. Initially I really felt bad for the girl when she said that she hated herself and I was giving her all the benefits of doubt (& I was secretly even rooting for her). But in the end her actions were actually what made me really hate her. I don't even dislike her, no I despise her. I truly don't think she is good person and Jae won honestly deserves 100% better. Obviously jae won isn't 100% guilty free since not only was he a bit too much in the beginning and did he take things to far. However, unlike le bitch those reasons came from not being able to move on, which would have been the healthiest thing but sometimes the heart can't move on. Was it healthy? Nah. Understandable? Definitely, 100% yes. He was also more destructive towards himself than he was bothering her. Besides, that girl herself blurred the lines many times, which made it hard to realise when jae won had any rights to contact her or not. I honestly think that his behaviour was nowhere near as bad as hers.
The is she a man are you a man part killed me. I will never get over this.
Jae won finally got some brains and left her.
Okay, I may have been a bit harsh on le girl. It's understandable that she wanted to escape after what she had been through but that still doesn't make it okay how she treated jae won. Also, lol that life goes on graffiti killed me. ARMIES ARE EVERYWHERE!
Okay, I am on the way of forgiving the girl but I have to say that I still loved it how jae won got angry at her and gave a piece of his mind. To be honest she really deserved that, not kind of deserved that, just 100% deserved that.
Whahahahahahaha lol I fucking love that crazy high school gym teacher. She's fucking crazy and hilarious and I'm 100% in love with her. Not only was she hilarious when she catched that runaway high schooler (another thing I'll never get over) but the drunk version of her is even the best since she thinks she's some kind of airbender when she's drunk. Geon is also a puppy & honestly I am beginning to feel quite suspicious of rin i. I feel like she's really taking advantage of cute cousin's affection. I kind of feel bad for him since I have a feeling he will propose and she'll utterly reject him. I don't know why but at times she gives me the wrong kibd of vibe.
It is also funny how I've seen almost every main lead in another k-drama.
I am not opposed to them getting back together but I love how sassy jae won is to her and how karma is coming back. It is too funny.
Why do I keep getting annoyed at Netflix for westernizing Korean names. Am I the only one who gets really annoyed at Netflix putting the first names first instead of the last name? The last name is supposed to come first in Korea c'mon Netflix why do you fuck up such tiny simple thing? If I wasn't already determined to learn Korean, I definitely would be now because that ANNOYS ME!
Those three friends are truly the best friends out there. I'm amazed at how both of them by especially rin i didn't get angry when she heard what her friend did to jae won. They are truly good friends to each other. However, I think that cousin will flip out though.
Also, I want the two exes back together since they're perfect for each other & I so knew that precious baby jae won put that locket in the suitcase. Besides, he has really matured since she finally gave him the talk he needed and this is why people should break up like decent human beings to avoid situations like these. At least tell them why you're breaking up and do it face to face just like that weird psychiatrist said. I also love how jae won took a step back since he finally got a reason and basically because he wants her to find herself. HE IS TOO PRECIOUS.
Old me was wrong and a bit too harsh on Lee Eun-O since in the end I quite liked her. I love how I just manage to do 180° turns of feelings in such short time periods. Even I'm baffled at how quickly and unexpectedly my feelings can change. I have quite forgiven Eun O now and really like her, even though her actions were really shitty. Like really shitty. Apparently me don't care anymore, lol. So yeah Lee Eun O rights (but jae won is still the best)!
I'm kind of happy that cousin broke up with rin i. I not only thought and felt that they were breaking apart but both of them have such different goals in life. I don't think they were that compatible anymore. Besides, Rin I's life style was too much. Girl just fucking buy another pair of bedsheets. In the beginning, I didn't vibe with her, halfway through I liked het, by the end I didn't vibe with her anymore. I might even think that cutesy cousin deserved better than her, which he honestly does. It was also not just him that was like uhmm... maybe you should look for a full-time job instead of those part-time jobs. I will also never get over how she glued that fork back togethet. Jesus christ woman just buy a new one & an extra bedsheet that's no freaking waste. At times she was too much.
Jae won's laugh is still that fake laugh from Suspicious Partner and I never thought I had to hear that laugh ever again but here we are. Also, by the end I was incredibly happy that Jae Won and Eun O ended up together because they were cute. I am, however, still mad that those two disaster exes didn't get back together, they really should have. The ending was also one of the most unecpected and random endings, which kind of fitted this show really well. I wouldn't be opposed to a second season of Lovestruck in the city, but I wouldn't be miserable either if there won't be another one.
Lastly, I also understand why I really liked this drama since tge surefire was raspberries for directing it's okay to not be okay & encounter (both shows I loved), and the screenwriter not only wrote romance is a bonus book (one of my all-time favourite kdramas) but also the golden hairpin (one of my most anticipated dramas). It's no surprise that I loved it then.

At least it's short?
Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad show at all, but I have some big problems with it.At first, I didn't know it's a web-drama, because I wanted to watch another Kdrama with Kim Jiwon, and that's how I find it on Netflix.
I liked the premise of the story. It's not original per se, but in the Kdrama world it was fresh. It doesn't felt like a Kdrama, at all, at first. It was like a typical indie TV show. I wasn't a fan of the documentary style, because in some cases it was weird.
The characters were okay, nothing special, just ordinary people, and that was the point anyway.
The first half was fun with the two main lead characters. Their romance felt real and natural, but after we realized what happened and why, it was a bit annoying to me. I get the point why she lied about herself, but doing all that with the guy, and just leave him, and even when they meet again, there was no explanation.
The most irritating part of this show is that the character NEVER talk about their issues. I know, I know, that's how it works in real life as well, and this series is kinda trying to do the same, but it was still annoying, especially, because she lied to everyone, not just the guy. Overall, they were cute and all, but not the best couple I've seen.
As for the secondary couples. It was obvious from the start what's gonna happen with Rin and Kyung. Their relation was too good on the surface. They always hide their problems.
Kang Gun and Sun Young were more interesting at first, but their ending was "meh", and honestly, dumb as hell. I don't even understand what was the point of their romance if they wanted to end like that.
The funny thing is that the most interesting and best couple of the show is the actress girl with the cop guy.
And that's all, basically, because there's nothing more to say. This show is just an ordinary story about ordinary people.
It wasn't bad, but if I want to watch something like this, I will watch "NORMAL PEOPLE" again, even tho that's not a Kdrama! That's how you do a story like this.

All the ratings I gave only for the casts
Long story short I guess I will be forgetting this drama in a year or so. I love love JCW and KJW but even that couldn't make me enjoy this drama as much as I expected. Story is good enough, flow is good enough, any kind of emotions, music, people just good enough. I do understand the premise is a good healing drama and if that's what you're looking for then yeah, this one is for you. There are none of emotional roller coasters, just light angst a bit, confusion and anger in the main conflict but all in all a typically light melodrama. If it's not for JCW and KJW and the second leads I would most probably stay not interested foreverWas this review helpful to you?

Masterpiece
I kept on delaying to watch this masterpiece due to the review about this drama being boring, some dropped out after 2 episodes and some could not grasp the concept of the drama itself. Honestly, it took me 4 episodes to get used to the concept. Is it slow? Only in the beginning as it's still in the introduction phase, but it got better episode by episode. I also read that people thought it's too 'western' due to its being open about sex and it's only at episode 2.This is a masterpiece that I don't even feel like recommending others to watch because not all can get the concept or stand with this genre. Also, this drama felt personal somehow and it's not that I used to experience it, but more like the raw emotions and the intimacies make me feel like I want to be in love, be loved, and share this with someone special. The chemistry between characters are top notch, especially for both Ji Changwook and Kim Jiwon. I can actually feel the pain and longing every time they see each other and when they kissed, I swear it took my breath away. The gaze they gave each other gave me butterflies.
The editing is perfect. I have been watching kdrama for years and this starting since last year, I am kinda have not much energy to watch much drama like I used to and finish it in a short time. All I know is it is kinda tiring to see that slow-mo kiss, the unnecessary flashback, and other things that drag the drama. However, Lovestruck In The City is almost perfect with no slow-mo kiss and 'get-to-the-point' drama. Except for the repeated camera scene but I understand that they just needed some time and excuses to see/get away from each other.
The ending is good, but I am kinda hoping to see more of Euno and Jaewon being lovey dovey, Rin-i and Kyung together or maybe character development for Rin-i.
Of course, it's not everyone cup of tea and I can understand it. Kind of pissed too that some people called it a flop because it obviously not. If you are into slice of life genre, might as well try this! It's a waste to not watch this masterpiece.

I loved everything
This drama had a great plot. Tons of swoon worthy romantic moments and kissing scenes. Tons of funny moments where I LMAO. Great acting. AMAZING chemistry. Great cinematography. And a refreshing story without the typical kdrama tropes like horrid love triangles, backstabbing or nasty “in-laws”. It was just an honest reflection of recovering from past relationship trauma, learning to love yourself again and finding new love. The lead couple was so believable as a real couple. The chemistry was off the chart. Will watch again .Was this review helpful to you?
Just enjoying the visual
It’s not bad but it’s not that good too, they really drag the story, this kind of drama is new, but yeah i enjoy the old way better. The kiss scene ?? It’s perfect, presented by ji changwook and kim jiwon never fail !!
Somehow it’s so unfair, only the main character problem got solved, how about the other 2 couples ? Or maybe there will be season 2
Lots of my friend didn’t enjoy it, but i still watch it till the end, not really recommended it if u are on the mood to watch great drama, but if u are bored, then watch it, it’s not that bad, this is just my opinion.

Regardless the rating, please watch 'cause i love it!
This drama is not for people who love fairytale, nor who expect chaebol CEO loves poor girl, nope. This drama is for those who wanna be loved endlessly regardless their flaws and brokenness. This drama is full of emotion, loses and hopes. About a messed up woman who happened meeting faithful, real and soft-hearted man who changed her love life 180 degree.I know i'm 3 years late, i watched this drama when it aired but dropped it on 2nd episode because the interview scene was bothering me. But now i'm in the mood of watching healing drama and tried this one regardless the rating. Because i know, Kim Ji Woon is never disappointing :) Surprisingly, I found myself loving it so so much. The chemistry between JCW and KJW is on another level.
Jae Woon, he isn't childish but, when he loves someone, he loves her endlessly. He is pure and softies. So that, when he was left unnoticed, he acted like someone has taken something away from his life. It's like what he said, "it would be better getting breakup and knowing the reason rather than being left without closure."
Sun Ah. Well, for me, Sun Ah is not like Ko Moon Young on IOTNBO who is badass or Yoon Se Ri from Crash Landing on You with high rank career and power. She is portrayed as a free-spirited woman with confidence and witty attitude. While Eun Oh is the opposite; full of doubt and low self-esteem.
The way Eun Oh kept on rejecting Jae Woon was not because she doesn't like him or being all b*tchy, it was because she hates herself as Eun Oh who (she thought) was weak and stupid. She knows that Jae Woon loves Sun Ah who has bright personality, not Eun Oh.
My most favorite scenes were two, first when Jae Woon asked Soon Ah to get married, when a man knows she's the one, he's gonna say it right away. Second when Jae Woon didn't wanna drive because it was raining, then he started to lean his car seat, looked at Eun Oh as if he wants to "kill her" with his gaze. Gosh, watching them waiting inside the car was killing me whoaaaa, it made me nervoussss like i could feel the awkwardness of Eun Oh >.<
Out of all 'escaping the big city' type of dramas, this is my most favorite. For those who like realistic and relatable love story, this drama is for you. It's not for everyone. Kuddos to all the casts and crew.

Amazing but surprisingly underrated
This is one of my absolute favourite dramas: I watched it many times!Plot:
Very tasteful, realistic but also fun depiction of how relationships can be. The way the lives of all the characters were interwoven into one arc was very seamless.
Characters:
I can't believe the depth of emotion Ji Chang Wook can convey through such minute expressions. There was a gentle vulnerability about his character that was riveting and made me root for him at every step. I may be blasphemous when I say this: but I think he does romance even better than action.
Kim Ji-Won also had an amazingly sympathetic character: even when she seemed to be one in the wrong, I could tell that she was suffering and struggling with something. They both had wonderful chemistry.
All the other characters also had great development and seemed very realistic.
Screenplay:
The mockumentary format was wonderful and intimate. It was funny, and it gave insights into characters that would be very difficult to get otherwise.
Music:
Excellent choice of music for the situations. Very tasteful.
Overall, this is one of my favourite dramas, and I'm very surprised it's not rated higher!

I too was drawn by the caliber of the cast. But while filmed in a documentary style, there is not a bit of realism between the main couple. They spend two whole months off the grid.... just vibing..... talking about nothing, not getting to know each other at all just relationship via Instagram moments. Unbelievable plot points are waved off as 'quirks.'
I did really like the ease and sweetness of the long term couple, but they get very little screen time.
Six episodes in I didn't see the point in continuing, there was no insight or creativity. For a similar 3 couple concept done much better, see 'Because This Is My First Life'

A poorly written, wannabe fan fiction
I’ve read fan fictions with better character development and writing than this series.I wish I had listened to the negative comments about this series, but even then I couldn’t comprehend how truly awful this series would be. I watched up to episode 11 and read recaps of the remaining episodes to prepare myself for this review. I simply couldn’t bring myself to finish physically watching the series based on how awful the content in the recaps was.
Let’s get the few positives out of the way before I go off the deep end.
-Ji Chang Wook is an amazing actor and has an amazing range. He can be passionate, funny, and charming while being angry and devastated. I’ve heard many of his previous shows have been similarly bad, which is an absolute shame and a waste of potential. I hope his future is brighter.
-Rin Yi and Kyung Joon are the only redeemable characters (at least up to episode 11 and in the recaps I saw). They feature the most realistic relationship and are the most likable characters both individually and as a unit.
-The visuals are great and SOME aspects of the mockumentary work well and feel refreshing.
The bad:
-The mockumentary style gets old very fast. You have to turn of your brain to accept the logic of this show. Having participants in a documentary talk back and forth THROUGH THE CAMERA IN REAL TIME makes NO SENSE. They should NOT be having conversations. The point of individual interviews is that you get ONE person’s perspective, whether they are a reliable narrator or not. No one should actively contradict and get them to change their perspective. A big part of these types of shows is to have the ability to guess if someone is being honest or not. Having characters refute things in their own segments is fine, but having characters address each other and get responses makes no sense!! Why would they be allowed to see footage before it has even aired? Truly ruined a novel concept.
-Sun Yung is abusive. That’s all.
-The main character is absolutely excruciating to watch, and not even in a fun way. Lee Eun O has never heard of healthy communication and it shows. I detest her with a passion. She has no redeemable qualities. I won’t spoil anything, but they try to make us care about her struggles more than halfway through, after most of the damage is done. I can sympathize with her struggles but it truly doesn’t change the fact that her reasons for doing what she does are ridiculous and she actively contradicts herself at every step. She starts the show nonchalant and standoffish and ends it a complete emotional wreck. These are two different people!! To add on, the heinous things she did AFTER her suffering are not suddenly okay because she suffered. We can understand her pain and wish for healing but still hold her accountable for causing harm to others through her actions.
-This leads me to the worst offender, the poorly written relationship between Jae Won and Eun Oh. I’ve seen bad Kdramas, but none quite like this. The part that offends me the most is that this tries to come off as modern and fresh, but ends up glamorizing more unhealthy relationship behaviors. At no point did I feel their relationship was compelling or worth fighting for. I was dragged along to this point with the promise of a relationship worth enduring so much pain for and never got it. Not only is the significance never demonstrated, but, based on recaps, they never grow or learn from their mistakes! Neither of them has any will or agency. They are forced to be in the same room by circumstances created by the writers for whatever reason. I do not care about these characters and frankly, I hope they forget about each other and move on with their lives. Neither one learns and grows throughout the show. Instead, they’re both worse versions of themselves at the end.
I have to say, the writers have a talent for creating irredeemable characters. I’ll give them props for making me so irritated and annoyed. You’ll know by episode 5 or 6 if this is right for you. I stuck around because I’m a masochist (and the main leads are very attractive, but that’s neither here nor there).
