Had potential

This actually had a lot of potential but it was just kind of boring. In the first few episodes it’s not bad and the story develops. After that it’s almost like they remembered that they have more airtime they can waste and scrap/back trac some of the earlier portions.

Like he finally starts talking and they all of a sudden they forget about it and restart that whole plot of getting him to talk.

Also the way it was filmed is thatIt just feels like there’s like 10ep too many.

Ridiculous storyline with needless dramatic twists

Primary Romance: 2
Secondary Romance: 8

I'm going to start by saying I found the title ironic. Literally halfway through I forgot the name of the series and had to check my youtube history to remind me of what I was watching. I'm stubborn and so was determined to finish it.

The only positive to this tale is the secondary romance between a secretary and her boss. There is a lot of lively banter that is enacted perfectly and is highly entertaining. Some mistakes are made in the way they handle the relationship by both of them but their sincerity and how perfectly right they are for each other shone through everything. I kept watching mainly for them.

I started this series because I enjoy the bubbly, sweet energy actress Hu Yi Xuan brings to her roles. I thought for sure her pairing with the adorable Lennon Sun and the handsomely, aloof seeming Wei Zhe Ming would create a funny but poignant tale of love. It didn't.

The first episode wasn't bad. There were your typical misunderstandings as the hero and heroine find themselves unexpectedly thrust into each other's lives, this time via a young boy who has some psychological issues due to trauma in his past. That would have been all well and good except that this massive plot point - the boy's issues - is treated in such a slap-dash manner it is whiplash-inducing. Hu Yi Xuan Qin Yi Yue is a wholly unprofessional doctor. Anyone associated with mental health will tell you consistency is one of the aspects most needed by the patient and yet she was all over the place in the role she played in the young boy's life. Sometimes she put him first, and others he just disappeared from the plot as she dealt with the inevitable love quadrangle that appears in every C-drama. Moreover, not only did she not act like a child psychologist but who in the world tells a four to seven-year-old (I could never figure out his age) that you will give them anything they want and swears by that? What if he had asked for the moon or a dinosaur? As a professional child psychologist, her training should have kicked in and helped her phrase that better.

The romance was equally weird. Most of the time ML and FL acted like they sincerely didn't like each other. They sure as heck didn't understand each other. This was the first drama where I wanted the leads to fall for the secondary love interests. The plot also revolved around a mystery whose resolution literally came out of nowhere - the people involved had never been mentioned in the drama. Overall, this was just dissatisfying.

cute but cliched

I only watched this because of Miles Wei and the current 8.4 rating here on MDL. The story was entertaining and cute but very predictable. The twists and turns were a bit forced, side couples took too much screentime which is totally unnecessary. They’re not even moving any butterflies anywhere so I think giving them too much spotlight was a waste of time. The ending is not exciting as well, I actually finished the whole thing waiting for something magical to happen in the end. But much to my disappointment, the last episode is “forgettable” as its title. Funny how the title is very generic, too! Overall, it’s still recommendable for wholesome viewing having a cute kid as part of the lead cast. Main themes explored building a family, pursuing one’s dreams, with psychological shenanigans on the side. Watchable but not rewatchable.

Xiaobao made the show enjoyable in every aspect❤️

Good enough to watch! I do however suggest not to watch the 20min final episode because its very confusing especially due to episode 24 that was in my opinion the ending. I thought the last 20min were just cut scenes, etc but it wasn't. Very confusing to say the least.......

The story had some plot holes therefore only a 7 rating for the story.

The main couple had great chemistry and I enjoyed their characters which were played well by the actors. Xiaobao was adorable and correct actor chosen for his role. He made the show enjoyable in every aspect. The other actors also did good in portraying their respective characters.

Production and Visual FX were good.

Ost was also good but not memorable for me to search the song and to add to my playlist.

Cutest Cdrama that I've watched so far!!

I super love love it.

I was hesitant to watch it at first but since I don't have other drama to watch I gave it a try. And it didn't disappoint me. I enjoyed it from first episode to last. Been fed up with Kdramas and Cdramas aalways give me a breakup from other overly dramatic dramas.

I love the Characters, the actors portrayed their roles magnificently. I am so in love with Miles Wei. Hehe. And the child actor who played Xiabao is so cute and loveable. If I am the FL, I will volunteer to be Xiabao's mom. Hahaha. The FL reminded me of Taiwanese actress - Rainie Yang. They kinda give me the same vibes and their smile looks the same.

The story is simple. It has some twists and turns and I love it. They didn't male thing so complicated. The problems are not dragging and every episodes are enjoyable to watch. Love it. Though it is not that perfect but it is surely reccomendable. Go watch it. 😉

A Good Choice For When You Crave Something Light

If you can deal with the inconsistent behavior of the FL and the somewhat forced and uninteresting side stories of the 2nd and 3rd couples, you will likely find this fluffy rom-com highly entertaining. I found the pace towards the end a little draggy, and they had to spoil the fun ride of romance for me by deploying the noble idiocy trope. To me, some melodrama felt more like filler episodes for the FL to do her noble sacrificing and then for the ML to do the same. I am not a fan of angst-filled scenes that last more than 2 episodes when it comes to a rom-com. Still, the angst factor is very low overall.

Plot-wise, there's nothing new - independent, plucky FL ending up with a ML who started as an emotionless machine but discovered his human side as he fell in love with the FL. However, this particular drama did feature a super adorable child whose acting deserved high praise and added the extra oomph to a run-of-the-mill story.

The best part of the show was the chemistry between the lead couple. They played off each other well, and their relationship's progression was delightful, despite the numerous disruptions from external factors. I like how the ML came to realize and become sure of his true feelings for the FL. How the FL fell for the ML was also nicely done. The development of skinship looked natural, and the kissing scenes were good. Nothing super steamy but nothing awkward either.

Miles Wei, who plays He Qiao Yan, the ML, once again did not disappoint as the lead role. Besides being so fine-looking, he also showed a good acting range, especially when it comes to his facial expressions. He is also a fantastic singer, and he sang one of the OSTs, "Obviously Like You" for this show. So did Hu Yi Xuan who sang "Sunny Date".

Hu Yi Xuan as the FL, Qin Yi Yue also acted well, and she cried so prettily. However, I did not like the FL's inconsistent behavior and lack of professionalism as a child psychologist. There were scenes where the FL behaved too childishly for someone who should know better, especially in that profession.

As for the second and third couples, I felt that the setup and their relationships were unnecessary. Having the 3rd female lead together with Ning Fang seemed like a consolation prize for Ning Fang, who was the second ML. Something was lacking, not enough chemistry perhaps, plus I felt that Ning Fang was suave and matured enough that he would have stood out on his own without needing a partner. Wu Chen Xu, who portrayed Ning Fang, is another one to keep an eye on since he appears to have the looks and talent. I first noticed him in the Long Ballad, and I thought he did well here.

Another high point for me was the OST. The song choices were great, very fitting, and evoked my emotions. The theme song was fun and reflected the cute tone throughout the drama. I have listed my favorite ones for posterity at the end of this review.

Overall, this is an endearing drama with a heart-warming ending, good-looking actors who can act and laugh out loud moments. I would recommend for light watching.

OST - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqCymajl_8I
Ding Ding (丁丁) - It's You
Wei Zhe Ming (魏哲鸣) - Obviously Like You (明明喜欢你)
Tian Dan (田丹) - Circumstances Change With the Passage of Time (时过境迁)
Hu Yi Xuan (胡意旋) - Sunny Date (晴天约会)

Trim the script and you’d come up with a better drama.

I really don’t understand why C-romance dramas waste time on the second and third lead romances when the audience is tuning in for the main couple. It always make for an overly long and convoluted plot. So much scenes wasted on secondary characters and clichéd plot devices such as the suffering too-good to be real second male lead and evil female lead, numerous unnecessary break ups, noble idiocy and so on. Honestly, this drama would’ve been much more interesting if it was shortened it to 16 episodes. This drama is relatively enjoyable , fluffy plot which I can never watch again.

Worth watching for the child actor

Lennon Sun playing the child, Xio Bao, stole the show. He was so cute and precocious in every scene he was in that it kept me engaged for the first half of the drama. His interactions with his stepdad, Qiaoyan, are very natural, affectionate and believable. The FL, Yiyue , bonds with him and handles the awkward situation of being put into the mommy role when she is actually a child psychologist hired to help him overcome muteness due to PTSD.
The inevitable quibbling and quarrelling between the two leads is the much used trope towards romance. This is also fine initially.
I did like the generous friendship support offered by Ruo Wei for YiYue and Wen Gu for Qiaoyan.

Where it all starts to fall apart is the latter episodes.
The entitled actions of Lin Wei and her families attempts to destroy Qioyan's company are never addressed.
The Aunts hiding vital information regarding the car accident tragedy is unnecessary manipulation of her, already affected, nephew.
The stupid trope of now we are together and lets breakup but I wont tell you why is annoying.
Poor editing and sloppy ending spolt the overall for me.

A fun, adorable drama

Things I liked:
1) The kid. The kid steals the show. He's so adorably cute.
2) Miles Wei. I think Miles Wei has become one of my favorite actors. He's very good at playing the smart yet clueless male lead. Fun and funny to watch.
3) Secondary couple. I normally feel that the secondary couple kinda drags out the drama. However, I loved the actor/actress and how they played their roles. I especially thought the actress did an exceptionally great job. I liked their story.
4) Funny moments. There were plenty!

Things I didn't like:
1) Some of the reasoning behind the female lead's actions. She plays a psychiatrist. I feel like it wasn't very realistic that she would play a psychiatrist, yet do some of the things she did.
2) Bangs/Fringe. I don't know what's with the flat across the forehead bangs/fringe. It's so common these days...makes it look like they're missing a part of their head. I can probably name 10 other dramas where the thing that annoys me the most is the female lead's hair style. I guess they're going for, "Hi, I look kinda of ditsy because that's the role I play..."?

Cliche melodrama, watch for ML & kid

I have read the novel and was curious about how worst the "Modified" drama story can be.
It's like disappointed but not surprised.

The modification I didn't like :-
Male lead's personality at start. In novel, he's a family man with "Sweet affectionate behaviour" In drama, he is a purely business minded, analytical.

The good modification :-
Their first kiss and first night. In novel, xiao bao gave medicine/drug to yue yue and both fl and ml hv spend the night together. In the drama, they do have very close scenes but he didn't really kiss female lead until confession.

I don't knew both actors before this drama but I must admit they both are very good actors. Miles (male lead) managed to portray both analytical and sweet personality very well. I really love his facial expressions. They both have sung the ost and their voice is captivating.

However, in many scenes, the music is removed on YouTube. You can see the chinese lyrics but there's no audio. The same problem is there in extra story too.

First 17 chapters kept getting on my nerves but the only reason to watch is the Cute Kid and 2nd Female Lead. Her character and personality is perfect! The cat music for kid makes his interactions cutest.

In first 17 episodes, its just contractual relationship, too many bickerings and ofcourse the annoying fiancee & aunt. Like why the fvck his aunt have to force ml for business marriage

From 18th chapter (from her confession onwards) the story becomes a bit good/bearable because of the romantic scenes. Also the part where she broke up with him is good to watch because of the coaxing scenes.

From 20/21 episode, they try to justify the annoying ex and aunt & put all the blame on a 3rd party (which disturbed me more) I honestly thought the one behind accident is aunt.

getting most of the points for xiaobao fr
i loved the drama. however there were a lot of plot holes.now i didnt mind them much cuz i went un for the visuals anyway.
the story is about xiaobao who cant talk. he experienced smth traumatic when he was 2 yrs old (?) and since then he hasnt uttered a word. his dad (uncle) is raising him and looking into that accident. the fl, yiyue is a child specialist who encountered xiaobao once and xiaobao took an instant liking to her. now the stoy progesses with xiaobao wanting yiyue ti be his mummy and qaoyian trying every means to get her to be by their side
this drama has a contract marriage trope with visually pleasing leads. and yall know where there is contract marriage there is me. honestly i loved the banter sm. xiaobao is the absolute cutest and him actually helping his dad to win his mom was so wholesome.
there is a suspence sub plot but imo it isnt executed well. the secrets are revealed too abruptly and almost like it doesnt matter anymore.
if u want smth light to binge watch with good banter this is for you
romance? 11/10
chemistry? 11/10
suspence? not so much
