Following the Shiny Object (2018)

The film reminds of the times in our teenage years when a special someone seemed to shine only for us. According to Yu Ra’s shaman grandmother, she is due to die on her 16th birthday, and so she decides to ''follow the shiny ''object and confess her feelings to the boy she has a crush on. The story may seem pretty ordinary at first, but it starts shining when a big costumed mascot intervenes between the boy and the girl. Perhaps the mysterious mascot is the answer from director Moon Byoung Jin to the question ‘What exactly made our hearts ache and flutter back then?’ Even though our hearts ached with sudden anxieties and unrequited love, who can deny that those were the days when we shined most brilliantly? Just like the airplane travelling across the sky at the end of the story, Following the Shiny Object chronicles our shiny days that came and went in a flash in a cute and lovable way.
