The Five (2013)

I was waiting from along time to watch another work for my favorite actress at all "Kim Sun Ah" , and I can't believe the coincidence when I found the raw for this great movie ..

- First of all the "OST" : is something I'm sure that you w'll love.
- The second is the "Cast & The Acting " : all the characters in the movie are real , my point is that you can easily feel them and feel there emotions , the characters in the movie are so simple , they only think in a way to save the people they love's and live with them in happiness , and that happened after they meat the main role "Eun Ah - Kim Sun Ah" and crosses with "Oh Jae Uk - Ohn Joo Wan"
- The third is the "Story" : which was written in genius way make you stay focus on the screen from the first second until the last one.

This movie has actually a really great story. When I read the synopsis i really wanted to watch this. Especially since it is very hard to get an english version of the webcomic this movie is based on. But after I did see the movie I came to the conclusion that I kind of liked this movie with its heroes and the villain and their interaction but on the other side I kind of didn't. Maybe because I expected more. This more isn't about the story here, don't get me wrong. I kind of feel cheated in a way I don't feel that often. I feel like I didn't see all, like I just stand in front of a dark window desperately pressing my face on the glass with my hands trying to not let any light in so that I can see better, see more. I have a feeling that this story had very much more to tell.


This movie concentrated on the heroine who wanted to get revenge for the murder of her family. The portrayal of her desperation to get the murderer was well done by Kim Sun Ah. I liked her really much and understood her desperation. I could identify with her. On the other hand there was the villain who was a real creep. He gave me the shivers and I certainly hope I will never ever meet someone like that (actually I hope such a guy will never ever exist).
To get the villain the heroine needs help because she is sitting in a wheelchair and that makes it difficult to chase after a perfectly healthy young man. That is when the Five are formed. 3 men and 1 women who help the heroine to get the murderer in exchange for the heroines organs. Each team member does have someone who urgently needs an organ transplant. It is a situation where you will get a live if you offer another. The movie gives us to every character an introduction. So that you can actually see their loved ones and understand their desperation.
In this situation obviously their must be some conflicts and the movie shows us glimpses of those. But overall it is mainly about the chase.

And I think that is actually the point that made this movie for me not a great movie. it is still good. Thrilling and entertaining. But I actually would have wanted to see more of the conflicts in the group. I would have liked it if the process of bonding between the heroine and the 4 team members who only want her organs was shown in more detail. I know what you will say: to show that in a 2 hour movie is just wishfull thinking. The time girl, look at the time. And you're right. That is why i hereby declare that I will root for more screen time in form of a drama series. Where all of the characters can shine and enter our heart on an emotionally level. I really do hope this takes place because I really want to know more about The Five.

Considering my wanting of getting more of the story maybe you shoud give this movie a try. It may not be perfect but it is certainly a good movie.

If I am supposed to right a review on the five I would start with one word: daebak! It was such a long time since I got to see a k movie to shake me and hook me up. It was an amazing piece of cinema with such intelligent story. It's about a married woman seeking revenge of the psycho who has assassinate her family. When I read the synopsis, I was surprised of the plot because I could not imagine kim sun ah as the main lead managing a revenge scheme. With such rules she had played earlier, it was enough for me to like it. By the minute it starts till the end there isn't a single moment you feel you are bored, thanks to the admirable script and marvelous cinematography. About the other main lead, I must say that it was the first time I watched ohn joo wan and with such role and strong performance, one can't forget that any time soon. The rest of the actors were pretty much lovely. Music was suitable and it gets you in the story and the whole vibe of the cat-mouse actions.
I'm not gonna write much about the watching value because I think I have already watched it ten times and still will watch it as I can't get fed up of this little gem.

So, k-drama lover, if you are in the mood for some real goosebumps and wanna get glued to your seat, then you've got exactly what you were looking for. Enjoy!

I must be a masochist because I always love watching these depressing dark movies. There were some parts so horrible and dark I didnt even want to watch, but then I had to see the fucker die lol. I'd recommend to anyone who loves the suspense/thriller genre, but theres not much more to the movie. I thought the villain was too horrible for no reason, like he had no soul.
For awhile I was trying to figure out if there was a certain message they were trying to put forward, which there wasnt really until the end. One of them is revenge may be nice while planning, but in the end it doesnt make you happy. There is another one but it would be a spoiler so you will have to see yourself!

I really enjoyed this movie, I went to watch it because it was in the recommended for the witness and I'm so glad I decided to watch it. Whilst its not the best movie ive seen, it was exactly the kind of movie I wanted to watch. The movie grabs your attention and holds it. Very intense and every moment I was wondering what was going to happen next. The cast's acting was amazing and each suited their characters perfectly which made the movie all that more creepy and suspenseful.

The music suited the plot and cinematography very well which gave more of an atmosphere that really made you focus on the story and everything. The ending was heartbreaking but it was also a good ending to have in this kind of film.

Although its not exactly a movie I would rewatch as the movie is captivating the first time but after that you know whats going to happen and it wont keep you as entertained the way it originally had, however I would have no problem if I did watch it again.

Kind of a dumb pointless movie. And I wasn't bothered by the violence and nudity that was literally the only good thing considering what a legit trainwreck this is. It tries to be "different" and in the process loses its way. Tries to be serious and meaningful but instead becomes something of a terrible confusion. I don't mind darkness or violence I just don't like when people don't know how to make it work. If you're going to make some guilty pleasure edgy violence do what movies like For the Emperor or the Bad Guys franchise does. Get a bunch of smoking hot dudes pulling knives at each other and I'll be happy to watch it. If you want to do meaningful, honest cinema with gruesome scenes go the way of I See The Devil and Coin locker girl or even The Chaser. I even enjoy stuff that's on the lighter side if it doesn't pretend to be something that it's not. This movie does just that. Throwing around angsty ideas like a terrible version of bingo and even though the actors mostly did their job there was no real substance in the story so it was just not enough.
