It had potential but lost it

Mei lin lost her parents in a fire plotted by one of the royal family.
Jinghe has been wrongly accused of causing the massacre of Qingzhou
Both decided to work together when Meilin found out who the real culprit is.
Honestly, the drama started very well! The back and forth schemes between the crown prince and Jinghe had me on the edge of my seat. Unfortunately, after the big bad wolf was taken down, the drama seemed to have fallen off for me. lol
A lot of the actors played their part well:
Liu Xue Yi became a psycho maniac guy to a loving husband. I've only watched one of his dramas thus far, but this drama definitely showcase the variety of techniques he's able to bring to the drama. His eyes has so much emotion in them, he didn't need to talk. LOL This is what I think is a really good actor who can move their facial muscles even as cold, stoic person. Not many actors can do this, Liu is an exception.

Wu Jin Yan also did quite well. i guess I watched too many of her dramas since Yanxi Palace and this drama just felt similar. Her acting is neither terrible nor pheneomal here. It didn't have much of a wow factor for me. I think her action scenes were beautiful though, I loved every action stunt she displayed.

One of the outstanding actors I would say in this dramas has to be Baron Chen who played Xuanliu, the crown prince.
Maybe I am biased as I've been a fan of his acting since Fated to Love You (classic) and damn... I must say he did a PHENOMENAL job as the villain. The variety of emotions he has displayed from innocence, anger, love, etc. His acting had me pausing during the climax of the drama because it was thrilling and NERVE-RACKING to see who would win. For once, I am satisfied with a villain's death.

The king and Princess Yan's relationship was cute - albeit I can't help but think in the back of my mind how wrong it is. I had to constantly remind myself ancient China had concubines as young as her.. and it was fine back then. Regardless, I did like the King in this drama because he seems to have emotion that no other kings would displayhe was quite gentle and caring.

Once again, this drama started off quite strong, it had purpose and when that purpose was done -there was about ...6 episodes left and I just skipped most of the scenes. I thought the drama should've ended at episode 26 instead of 32. However, I suppose the leads had to wrap up loose ends with Qingzhou, and their relationship.
Would I recommend it?
If you like action scenes, thrill, schemes, sure. But if you don't want to waste your time, I'd suggest stopping at episode 26 or so. LOL

So much potential but did not live up to earlier part of the series.

This drama had so much potential to be a great one. Intriguing premise, strong female lead, dark and brooding male lead. I'm surprised I finished it but I was hoping it'll take a turn for the better. Ugh, it did not. Suggestions to new viewers, watch up to the point where they get rid of the prince and stop there. Do not waste your time to finish the rest, there really isn't a point.

Kill me…”love” me…bore me,…completely lost me

This series was unique from other “revenge/conspiracy” shows in that early on it revealed the villain. Thus the direction of the main plot was exposing his evil deeds. Sometimes it can be difficult for this type of story to work because the enemies of the leads is no longer a mystery which eliminates much of the intrigue in the plot. This was painfully apparent here.

At times the story could be interesting, especially in the beginning but it started to drag due to nothing much happening half way through the series. Or something would happen and it would drag out too long.

The conspiracy plot just wasn’t that good and the revenge plot was non existent. The love story between the leads was good until it wasn’t. Going completely off the rails into angst for no other reason other than drama for drama’s sake. The 2nd “love” story between the Crown Prince and the General was ridiculous at best. He was a horrible person who’d been obsessed with her since he was a teen while she was in love with the ML, Jinghe. She vehemently rejected the Crown Prince’s marriage proposals then suddenly after one major event claimed he was her “beloved.” It made absolutely no sense as there was no built up whatsoever to her falling in love with the him. Literally one episode she was vehemently rejecting him. The next episode she was reluctantly accepting his proposal (mind you after he drugged and planned to r*pe her but changed his mind out of honor towards her RME), then the next episode she was claiming him as her beloved with whom she was deeply in love. It was ridiculous.

Moreover , she had to be the worst general I’d ever seen. Though she held herself to a high standard of goodness and integrity when she learned the Crown Prince killed thousands of innocents due to his personal vendetta against his bother she slapped him a couple of times then resumed the relationship. She continued to “love” and comfort him, and allowed him to be by her side despite his monstrous behavior. She had much potential but unfortunately she was turned into a mindless pushover driven by “love” instead of a smart badass who could love but be intolerant of evil and thus not hesitate to strike it down.

The show started to go south around episode 20 with some senseless twists in the story but nosedived into absurdity around episode 22 which is where I dropped this series.

The actors were really good in this. The leads had nice chemistry but the love stories and the conspiracies failed to live up to their potential.

They promised darkness, we received.... Idk what even at this point

I saw a review saying that if you're not a hardcore fan of any lead, you probably won't finish this. Well, I am a huge fan of Liu Xueyi and Baron Chen and I can not finish this title. I really, really wanted to, but I can't bring myself to.

The story. We were promised a deranged prince and a top assassin wanting a blood revenge on the deranged prince. I was expecting a back and forth, Mei Lin sneaking into Jinghe's closest guards, trying hard to kill him, Jinghe noticing her efforts, but deciding not to kill her just yet because she's useful and then starting feelings somewhere mid story. The derangement of Murong Jinghe faded within the first episodes and we got a wronged man desperate to avenge his buddies and clear his name. Which, I would not mind, I like seeing a smiley, fluffy Liu Xueyi on screen, but this is not what we were promised. I really wanted a deranged prince Liu Xueyi, darkness, ravens, no hope. After the first few episodes, this drama fades into court affairs and power struggle with the background of taking revenge on the true culprit. Again, not what we were promised.

The casting. I think the casting is as good as it gets. Seeing Baron Chen as a great scheming villain and Liu Xueyi as his brother - very fine choice. I personally dislike characters like General Yin - expressionless and just robotic, and the sweet summer children siblings duo. The Xiyan Prince learned at least something, but princess? Please.... Nonetheless, all the actors did great.

The soundtrack. Pretty basic, OSTs rarely stuck with me.

There were some pretty amazing and artistic scenes and frames but these also faded with the dark storyline. Especially when Murong Jinghe is parading through the city and the people are throwing stuff at him and he then takes a bite from the bun (I think it was a bun at least). And then in episode 8ish, when Mei Lin pulled Murong Jinghe below the fabrics being dried. Very beautiful.

Other than this.... It's hard to find more positives to this drama. Idk who to recommend this to, the reviews are split too. Those of us who expected darkness and ravens don't really like this drama plot, those who watched for enemies to lovers seem to love it. I think that's it.

Kill Me Love Me

In my opinion, the Prince of Xiyan (Yue Xin) appears a great pretender, boring and cunning. Yue Xin is obsessed with the FL. Therefore, Yue Xi has been quietly planning to 'seize' the FL from Murong Jinghe, so I think he teams up with the Priest of Xiyan to manipulate the FL. In this regard, and in my opinion, the FL appears dumb. I hope the FL realises Yue Xin's requests are insincere in the next episode.

However, the FL's relationship with Murong Jinghe is great.

=> Beautiful, tough, sad, ... and beautifully interpreted 。゚(*´□`)゚。

PLOT: To avenge the death of her family (and the 10,000 inhabitants of her town), the FL has been trained for 10 years (killing + martial arts) in the Shadow Army. She get part of the 100 beauties sent by the neighboring country, Xiyan, to kill the 3rd Prince (the ML). She lives with him, they share adventures, fight against the plots of the Crown Prince, etc. The Prince of Xiyan (whom she helped when he fled, the ML2) love her, and takes advantage of the circumstances (coup,FL's poisoning) to make her his Crown Princess.

+++ A magic CL (Liu Xue Yi & Wu Jin Yan) and lots of excellent actors (Bi Wen Jun, Baron Chen, ...)
+++ Effective production, with sets, costumes, fight scenes, lights, OST, ... at the TOP.
+++ Quite dark story, very catchy during the first 20 episodes BUT### Last 10 boring episodes, with inconsistencies and unjustifiable offbeat behavior

### Part about Xiyan unrealistic, incongruous. I know that there have been mad kings in history, but this is delirium.

The last 2 episodes are moving, magnificent (and sad) and demonstrate the immense talent of Liu Xue Yi (I'm waiting for his next series :). It was magnificent, and I'm glad I watched it, but I'll not rewatch it, it was to sad !

************************************************************

I loveeeee

The Male Lead is just an embodiment of acting! The FL is also an amazing actor! I love the movie so much and I can’t get over it! It started very well and though I didn’t expect the end to turn out the way it did, I still enjoyed it and consoled myself that it is just a movie and the actors are doing well well afterwards.
The chemistry between ML and FL? Perfect! They truly gave it their all and I really love it for them. They deserve all the love and support they could get in this movie and I hope it takes them places and heights they never imagined they would reach in their careers. Well done guys🥰🥰🥰

Never Take Life for Granted!

I had to watch this Chinese drama Kill Me Love Me three times in a row—something I’ve never done before. That’s how much I loved it! I didn’t want to miss a single moment of this incredible show. While I usually enjoy the fantasy elements in dramas (which are some of my favorite aspects), this time, the compelling story and stellar performances kept me completely hooked.

Lei Xue Yi, whom I admired in earlier works like Love and Redemption and Ancient Love Poetry, truly shone in this drama. His portrayal was so captivating that it felt like I was living and breathing the story alongside him. Watching Kill Me Love Me has inspired me to go back and explore more of his previous works—how did I miss them before? He’s such an excellent actor, and his performance here was no exception.

Actress Wu Jin Yan was equally outstanding in her lead role. I admired the strength and fierceness she brought to her character, proving once again that women can take on powerful roles and do so with grace and authenticity. Her dedication and ability to make her performance so believable were truly inspiring. Having seen a few of her previous works, I’m now eager to watch more. She continues to impress me with her talent and screen presence.

The production was equally commendable. The set design was stunning, the martial arts choreography was breathtaking, and the costumes and animation were flawless. One detail that stood out was how the actors altered their voices to sound sinister. By lowering their octaves, they added an eerie and evil dimension to their characters that was incredibly effective.

Kudos to the writers for crafting such a compelling story and to the casting team for assembling such a talented ensemble. The supporting cast also deserves praise for bringing depth and realism to the drama's world.

Kill Me Love Me left me thoroughly satisfied. It’s a masterpiece that showcases the brilliance of everyone involved. If you haven’t watched it yet, you’re in for a treat!

Broke me in a good way

I absolutely loved this drama contrary to many others who seem to have been quite disappointed.
Sure if you expect a steaming hot romance show, as the trailer and the first episode indicate, you won‘t be satisfied. But after all it is a C-Drama… if you expect to watch something similar to the Borgias, you for sure will be disappointed.
The second reason why many did not like the show was that the ending was changed compared to the original novel. Since I am a sucker for sad endings, I truthfully enjoyed every heartwrenching minute of it! But yeah if you are hoping for a happy end you will get disappointed again.
I loved the chemistry not just between the leads but also between the other actors. Liu Xueyi is for me on an other level of acting and so is Wu Jinyan! I loved Liu Xueyi already in Blood of Youth and fell hard for his portrayal of Murong Jinghe. The scene of them lying on the bed both crying will hunt me to my death it was so beautiful, sad and full of feelings!

To sum up my rant: I love it! I loved the pacing, I was okay with Murong Jinghe‘s 180 degree character change (because it made sense) and I also found it understandable why the General fell for the Crown Prince (and don‘t get me started on the execution scene… beautiful!). It is a beautiful drama for people who love a good tragic story, who want to cry and feel as if their heart has been crushed and put together again.

Somewhat good

Even tho the production value of Kill Me Love Me it’s really good, I simply can’t seem to connect with the story or sympathize enough with the characters to keep watching. There’s something about the directing and the performances that I don’t like but I can’t put my finger on it. Not to mention the script it's all over the place, with the most of the characters making decisions that don't make sense, even when they explain the long game and what they are after.

C’est la vie!

Liu Xue Yi

Liu Xue Yi is a handsome man, I watch his drama and mesmerize by his good look, it's too bad his Female Leads weren't as compatible as him - not only in appearance but most importantly in skills. I dropped 'In Blossom' because his co-star Ju Jing Yi ruined the drama. Her pretty face didn't make a cut.

This time his co-star is Wu Jin Yan played as Mei Lin - a blank face actress, can't really read her emotion in any given situation. It's her frozen face, can't ignore it. Her eyes empty, doesn't communicate her trauma or hatred or sad or pain to her character has experienced it. 1st to 3rd episodes I enjoyed to watch Liu Xue Yi which wasn't only a great vision, but his snarling/pouting /glowering/glaring/frowning is appalling. His beautiful face makes more sinister to the contorting situation - his barely smile brings out menacing character and unknown to anyone his secret of morbid plan of avenges. That's what I see him in this drama, value of his skill to the character. Liu Xue Yi is a promising actor if he can find a female lead that can bring out his personality in collaboration of future project.

Prince Murong Jing He (Liu Xue Yi) of the Great Yan Dynasty led his Weibei Army to reclaim Qingzhou, a lost territory. Became infamously 'Butchered General' from accusation of burning down a town and killed it's citizen. A misunderstood General that hold hatred to take on revenge to family who wrong him. Mei Lin's (Wu Jin Yan) family burned to death by, as she believed, Weibei Army which under Prince Murong Jing He's leadership. She dedicated herself to take on revenge to the man who responsible with horrendous act, Murong Jing He. Disguised as one of a hundred Xiyan beauties sent to the Great Yan as part of a political marriage alliance, she patiently waits for her chance to strike. But what Mei Lin doesn't know is that the man who masterminded her entire assassination mission—setting her on this path of revenge—is none other than Murong Jing He himself. That's the plot.

With the basic synopsis I wouldn't imagine the character Prince Murong Jing He; he's taking his time in finding the culprit, he takes on the blames, he receives scold, hateful profanity and scorn, thrown-rotten egg/vegetables from public humiliation, he bare it all with sinister sneers. His deep sarcastic voice (I heard it's his real voice) play important part for his edgy character, irony situation with his statuesque and stunning face.

I hate to drop this drama just because of FL...still many episodes to watch though.

What happens when two crazy people interact?

They create toxic fireworks that burns through the screen. Two crazy people who are ready to die at any time to accomplish their goals... (one openly crazy, the other silently crazy😂)

*This is a preliminary review based on three episodes out so far*

So far, this is a well written and well acted show based on a general known far and wide as a mass murderer. The show starts with the FL dad being burned to death. (alive). We find out that the general (ML) army set the fire to their town. The FL swore revenge on the ML and went through a decade of training as an assassin just to kill ML.

Big plot twist: It was the ML all along who was training her to kill him... (she doesn't know). The ML also wants to use her to investigate the past. Anyway, that's the premise of the show. And the story is built off that. The ML in this show is crazy... But the FL is also crazier... (he poisoned her, she stabbed him. Etc... you get the gist of it)...

Anyways, the thing that's drawing every one in is the way the story is told. LXY & WJN are doing a good job of portraying these characters. You will totally believe they are who they say they are. They live and breath these characters and we see them in action all the time. whether it's through emotions (eye movements, facial movements, mechanical laugh, etc) they make make these characters intriguing. It also helps that their chemistry is very good and works well together!!

The story is intriguing. Each smaller plot that's revealed makes you want to know more. I'm intrigued by all the smaller plots that will eventually intertwine with the main plot.

So far so good, I really love their toxic chemistry.😂💀 They are giving everything I want in an enemies to lovers. THIS RIGHT HERE, IS THE REAL ENEMIES TO LOVERS. This is how it should be done. Not a damsel in distress who get hurt by ML repeatedly and ends up "falling in love" 🙄
