It's not strictly necessary to watch both, subtitles are a bit hard to find for season 1, but you can still enjoy season 2 easily with ENG SUB on WeTV.
1000 stars is faaaaaar more dramatic, however, both are Thai BL series that take place in countryside Thailand and all/most characters speak Thai dialect. There's plenty of green scenery as well. I recommend both if you enjoy BL and nature.
