A drama that can make its viewers feel a myriad of emotions. And plus points for high rewatch value!
If there's one thing I can say about this drama, it's that "by the time you finish it, it feels like home."The characters and the Gongjin setting are HCCC's biggest strengths, imo. From the first two episodes itself, it sucked me in with the variety among the characters we see- kind and caring but kinda stuck-up Hye-jin, handy-man Mr. Hong who goes around doing odd jobs for people, and of course, the Gongjin folks. I hardly ever rewatch dramas, but this one was a wonderful exception- I rewatched it straight-away after the drama finished airing! And I have feeling I'll be rewatching again, sometime soon.
The lead actors' chemistry has to be one of the best ones I've seen in a while. Be it their playful banter, or bickering, or being all cutesy while dating, to the sad scenes.. it all felt so unforced and natural. Especially the cutesy scenes were so SO adorable to watch, I couldn't help but squeal. The love triangle was handled excellently (and healthily) as well, and the bromance between the two male leads was just * chef's kiss *.
If there's any complaints I have about HCCC, it's probably the way the reveal of Du-sik's backstory was handled. The build-up to it felt a bit too long, and it would have been nice if at least two episodes were focused on it, instead of wrapping it all in episode 15. The show still delivered though, and considering the reveal happened in a single episode, it was handled really well! And while I do think it could have been done better, I still loved it. haha.
To anyone who wants a fun little rom-com with a good punch of the feels added to it, just jump right in. You won't regret it. <3

Fall in love with Kim Seon Ho
The story is good. I loved loved loved Kim Seon Ho. His acting was brilliant to the mark.Loved Hong Doo Shik bargaining with Choi Geum Chu, wish I would barge like him.
The way Yoon Hye Jin insists she's not that kind of person every time she asks Hong Doo Shik for help is amusing.
It’s hilarious how Hong Doo Shik made Yoon Hye Jin walk all around the village to work in the fish market.
Love at first sight for Hong Doo Shik.
The meme scene that I see everywhere is actually Hong Doo Shik's list of work licenses that he owned.
The judging look grandmas gave to Hong Doo Shik for defending Yoon Hye Jin's choice of clothes is funny.
It’s sweet how Yoon Hye Jin extended her hand in front of Hong Doo Shik to protect him from the sudden brake which usually ML does for FL.
It's hilarious how Pyo Mi Seon understands what Choi Eun Chul is saying when he talks with his mouth wide open.
Yoon Hye Jin & Pyo Mi Seon crying & hugging each other in a cage. Hong Doo Shik saying the door is open is sweet & hilarious at the same time.
Loved how Hong Doo Shik ran to Yoon Hye Jin clinic to save her is so cute.
The thing we expect from Leads is done by Hong Doo Shik & Ji Sung Hyun, Ji Sung Hyun falling & Hong Doo Shik grabbing him.
I find it cute, the shock reaction of Choi Eun Chul when Pyo Mi Seon asks his ideal type.
Laughed how Yoon Hye Jin tested Hong Doo Shik by giving him CSAT question to solve to see whether he studied engineering or not.
Loved the leads playing in the rain & sea is cute.
Laughed how both Yoon Hye Jin & Ji Sung Hyun caught Hong Doo Shik from falling into the water.
Ji Sung Hyun loves eating. He may seem crazy sometimes, but I like him. He is not like other SML who turn evil & wants to do everything to separate the leads. He was heartbroken when he got rejected by Yoon Hye Jin, but he accepted it. He even helped to solve leads problems & supported Hong Doo Shik till the end.
Love Hong Doo Shik & Ji Sung Hyun friendship.
The proud face of Hong Doo Shik when Yoon Hye Jin sits beside him is so cute.
Laughed my ass off when Yoon Hye Jin's father tightly held Hong Doo Shik's hand & didn’t leave it.
Loved how Yoon Hye Jin said that Hong Doo Shik is handsome & tall, and praised him in front of her father & his reaction was hilarious.
Poor Pyo Mi Seon had seen Leads being all lovey-dovey.
Poor Hong Doo Shik, his cute reaction whenever Yoon Hye Jin suddenly slapped him then kicked him, at last headbutted him. I laughed so hard in those scenes.

Warm-hearted. Highly recommended with all of my heart!
When I was at the middle of the first episode, my heart has already put 10/10 score for this drama. It might be too early to say that but I was never disappointed after finishing all eps. Thanks to all the cast & crew who worked hard on this drama. I really enjoyed it. I laugh a lot & cry more. it's not a sad story but the story is about lives. People around ml&fl have their own stories and destiny chained them together. They went through all thick & thin, solved their problems e.g. mental health, family, relationships. All characters have been developed very well.
I feel like some parts of this drama may hit viewers' hearts. Some stories may be similar to someone's. I also feel familiar with some parts of them. That's why I cried a lot because it reminded of my own stories and it healed me. One of the most favorite things about this drama is warm-hearted dialogue. I like many of them. I will rewatch it to read those dialogues again and again, I hope those can help me on both good & bad days. I searched for the writer's name to say thanks (in my head). The series, written by Shin Ha-eun, so thank you for your hard work.

loved it!
this is one of those dramas that once again I’m asking myself why did I let it sit on my to watch lost for so long. The moment I started it I could not stop it. There was only one episode where I got bored and struggled to get through I think or maybe it was a period around it and I think it was episode 14 or maybe 13-14 but it was just parts and picked back up immediately in 15 for sure.
The last episode was that perfect ending that gives you everything you want and I really just loved both the leads characters so much!! Plus all the side romances and other happy endings for everyone.
FLIPPIN CUTE OK EVERYONE ALL THE CHARACTERS ATE PRECIOUS. You’ll fall in love with the whole town

The show is special in many ways!
This series has a special place in my heart.I'll start by appreciating the storyline. For me, it was an unexpected story, from what you normally see in kdramas: a countryside, village by the sea. What took my attention the most during the show was how well the stories of each villager were shown. The storyline itself wasn't only about main leads (their past, problems and feelings), but other people's lives mattered in the plot. Apart from other shows that I've watched, supporting characters weren't only "filling in" the plot with funny scenes or a quick refresh from the main leads. Each character had their own past that could be expressed during the show and their feelings were truly shown. They weren't the background of the storyline, they were the part of the life of main leads. Each villager somehow invaded decisions, feelings or their thinking. Even though that the supporting characters played a huge role, I did not feel that main leads weren't shown that much or their story was not the biggest plot. I was curious of others (besides the main leads) but did not wonder, when a love of both of them will show up.
Another matter that stroke me when watching "Hometown Cha Cha Cha" were my reflections after the last episode. I decided to leave them here, in case somebody will need it:
1. sometimes, when we struggle, we don't think about our loved ones. We don't show gratitude to them, forget about their love. Even a slight sign of love to the other person can change their decisions, even when it comes to their lives.
2. When we admire somebody that's far away from us: whether it's about the distance or interests, we are unable to see a person that is perfect for us, will give us comfort and love we need and what's the most important: it's near us.
3. Modesty and simplicity means happy life. You don't have to be rich or have a meaningful job to be happy and satisfied in life. The only thing that's needed is love.
4. Helping another person will benefit you someday.
5. We don't realize how we can loose everybody in one day. Even if it's not our fault that they left (no matter if they died or abandoned us), God will put trials on our way for us to realize that we should appreciate every single moment of our lives.
At last I'd like to talk about the actors' play. I could portret their emotions well. It was clearly seen that they're experiencing those feeling deep inside trying to do their best. The scenery and costumes were pleasant to the eye, were not too eye-catching, they were matching the style and pictured well the personality of the character.
Overall, I'd recommend show "Hometown Cha Cha Cha" for somebody who needs a rest from fast paced dramas, filled with negative emotions and enjoys a simple plot.

Finished this kdrama and definitely recommend!!!!!!
The character development... Just the way everything felt so realistic and so unique is just everything!! Honestly every time Netflix realised a new episode I couldn't wait to wait and scream whenever I had to wait s few days. The ending was satisfying but I wish to see a season two to see their lives with two kids XD
I cried because I could relate to the story of Du-sik and Mrs Gam-ri's son when he cried around her funeral.
Honestly, this is one of the best k-dramas I've ever watched.
At first it didn't look as good because hyejin had that bratty attitude people didn't like but around the end of the series her character changed a sweet but yet stubborn character which I liked.
I was so curious of Du-sik's life and what happened to him as he was secretive and introverted than he looked.
He.... Really reminds me of myself, also keeping it in and not telling people what I go through everyday that's why whenever the scene of du-sik cries or struggles; I cry on the screen feeling so related to him.
Kim seonho did well on this character and how his character opened up to someone he can trust and love.
I LOVEEEEE the actors and actresses in this k-drama, not only you see the story of the main characters.... But you get each of the characters story and how they get to resolve the problem they faced.
I love the town people, because they were like one happy family. Always there for each other everyday and all the time.
Always sharing their emotions to one another
I loved miseon and euncheols relationship!!! Wish to see a literal drama of them XD
I definitely recommend this K-drama, it's realistic, relatable, down to earth and just sweet.

average not as lighthearted as I thought | some hypocrisy for drama
Life is too short for stressful drama. Why spend all that time watching and be stressed? Don’t our lives already provide enough of that?Summary of the series:
- Not as Light hearted as I wanted from a rom/com; series had slow sections
- simpatico characters
- there weren't villains but more like distractions to add stress, there are some short struggles, calamity and miscommunications to cause more drama and some stress
- seems like they gave stress to the FL in the beginning and to the ML at the end; the beginning I had to skip since they made it so hard for the FL; the end they threw in the kitchen sink for ML in the last 2 episodes to close it out
- story was ok, simple; FL is pretty straight forward, ML is a vocal clear to the point character but cant speak of his past; they needed to create the drama here with some hypocrisy
- as you can see, the show squeezed all the ML story to the end, so you can imagine how rush the ending is and basically no enjoyment really after they get together except a few scenes here and there
still some joyful parts, some stress and slowness for this series: recommended to watch if this fits you; its not a rewatch for me for sure but good to watch once if you have watch the better ones

Jack & the Hedgehog Take a Bite Outta the Hood °8.4° °Excellent°
Yoon Hye Jin (HJin) loses it one day. Total Mariah-moment. She quits. She drinks. She trashes her boss online. HJin is a skilled dentist with a conscience. This, invariably, put her at odds with her greedy boss who expected her to prescribe unnecessary, but expensive treatment for their unwitting patients. She couldn't take the pain anymore, and extraction was necessary. Now she's jobless and no one wants to hire a ‘poison pill’. Going keyboard commando on her employer put all her potential employers’ teeth on edge. What does she do? She goes for a ride. Her wandering takes her to a quaint seaside town. Her love affair begins with the sign over one establishment: Coffee in the middle of the day. Beer in the moonlight… But she ends up having a fateful day: She loses her shoes. Then her phone dies. She can't find her money either. At every turn she received reluctant assistance from a local yocal, Hong Doo Shik (DShik).
HCCC is a 2021 release that is rated 90 on AWiki. It is 1 season consisting of 16 70-minute episodes. Shin Ha Eun of Love Next Door and The Crowned Clown is the screenwriter who brings small town magic to life here. The deep-dimpled and lovely Shin Min Ah (Chief of Staff, Oh My Venus-7.4, My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho, Our Blues-8.5) is HJin. She's the hedgehog - get too close you'll get stuck. Kim Seon Ho (Welcome to Waikiki S2, 100 Days My Prince-5.5) is DShik, our Jack-of-all-trades. Since Start-up-8 and Strongest Delivery Man-6.6, I've been a fan. It's wonderful to see him play the romantic lead. Lee Sang Yi (Youth of May, When the Camellia Blooms-8, Han RiverPolice-7.4) once again shows his range as Ji Sung Hyun. The magnificent Lee Jung Eun has a guest appearance in ep1; I think she's my favorite actress right now. The rest of the cast is wonderful, and the music might even be better. After Shazaming ‘Wish’ by Choi Yu Ree I pulled the entire playlist up on Spotify. All of the music is sensational. It compounds the delight factor. HCCC is excellent. There's a little bit of filler in double-digit episodes, but it doesn't suffer much from it.
I'm a fan of the director, Yoo Je Won. He's brought us Oh My Ghost-10, and the popular Love Next Door, & Crash Course in Romance. This Director exudes warmth, has an appreciation for good food, and really “gets” good music, particularly jazz. Like OMG, the soundtrack for HTCCC is stellar. Top tier. After some bold & underlined question marks (CV overview follows review), I am so happy that he's settled back into his own and is cranking out such amazing stuff, like I know that he can.
The main character in HCCC is the home town. HJin is from Seoul. She is used to high fashion and upscale amenities. The people that live in her new home lead different lives and rely on eachother heavily. We have the young, the old, the men, the women, the silly and the wise. There's a full cast and wide variety of well-developed characters that help push the plot. They also like to sink their teeth into some juicy gossip. After taking the plunge and opening a dental practice there, HJin offends everyone with her unconsciously elitist attitude, but with DShik's help from the shadows, she eventually settles into small town life. The next closest dentist is an hour away, so customers begin to wander in.
When HJin & DShik finally start dating, she wants to keep it a secret. The town is full of busybodies, afterall. Most of it isn't mean-spirited, but that's besides the point. Every time someone happens upon a sweet moment they are sharing, she turns around and slaps or kicks him. She even gives him a bloody nose in an effort to throw the dogs off. He almost doesn't survive their initial secretive phase. As it turns out, none of it was working anyway. Everyone saw through it.
They run into relationship static at one point. She knows he's keeping hurts from the past bottled up. She wants him to open up. She comes to the conclusion that she should wait for him. She tells him that if he promises to open up to her one day, then she'll wait until he's ready. He can take as long as he wants to “open wide”. I think that's the right answer instead of drilling him for what she wants, when she wants it.
HCCC digs into the root of things once or twice. One of the characters gets a beautiful speech followed up shortly by quite a beautiful death scene. Rather than the sequence feeling sad, it is a triumph of a simple life, lived well, to the fullest satisfaction. That is the theme of HCCC: A simple life and being content with just enough is the key to happiness. We let our endless wants create discontent and dissatisfaction. Choosing simplicity and contentment is choosing joy and peace. Love will always follow Along those lines, HCCC is a pleasant trip to the seaside with nothing complicated or heavy. Quite the opposite.

{Yoo Je Won Career summary: The solidly rated High School King of Savvy is his first effort. Oh My Ghost, as highly rated as it is, is still under-appreciated. Not only are the 4 leads (as well as supporting actor Lim Ju-hwan) absolute savants, but there is not one wasted line of dialogue. Everything points to something else. There's constant use of foreshadowing, metaphors, and other techniques that don't stop. Every viewing of the show reveals only more. Furthermore, it's a laugh-out-loud delight in the first half and then gets genuinely teary later on. I suspect it suffers because things don't get rolling until the very end of ep1, so a chunk of viewers probably didn't stick with it. Nevertheless, it is a masterpiece and catapulted this director and the lead actors to super-stardom. Tomorrow With You-7, which also stars Shin Min Ah, was next. I liked it very much, but some of the logic is deeply flawed - so much so that I cannot rate it above a 7. The positives outweigh the bad, but it should have been better. The Smile Has Left Your Eyes was well received and followed up by Abyss-4.7, which is a complete failure in every way possible. It is a debacle and there is almost nothing redeeming about it, other than the good looks of the ML. It is over-rated by kind viewers, many of which are likely reacting to a dearth of good romantic content from Hwood. Abyss is better than most Hwood gunk, but it is not worth watching once, given the many better features Asia has to offer. Hi Bye Mama!-6.5 has plenty of positives, but I wouldn't choose to watch it again. It was intended to be a ray of hope for people that have suffered loss, which was exactly what I was going through at the time, but it didn't do it for me. With HTCCC, CCiR, and LND he seems to have recaptured his magic.}

Like a hot cup of tea on a cold winter evening!!!
So I finished watching this just now and it took me just 36 hours to complete this ...the way I binged it..I started this show with no expectations at all.. I had heard about it and saw the rating quite high here on mdl so decided to watch 1 episode to test it and then 36 hours later here I am!! Words cannot describe how much I loved this show!! I can go on and on about the story acting direction etc but that is true for many other shows especially Kdramas..what made it stand out for me was the way it made me feel...like I am going through something right now personally and this show just calmed me and made me feel so warm from inside ...ultimate comfort watch!! I cannot give it a higher praise than this!! I could not find one fault in the show..like come at me me with a criticism and I'm sure I will be able to defend it!!! Kudos to the entire team!! Also thanks to this show for introducing me to the most adorable cutie pie/sexy man Kim Seon Ho!! 20/10Was this review helpful to you?
a good watch
overall, enjoyed the story. What is striking to me is the stories of side characters and the wholesomeness of them. Was expecting a bit more from two main leads in terms of character development but personally they didn’t do much for me, their chemistry however sparks well. What I do dislike about the whole drama is the constant emphasis on how it’s a “healing” drama, which to me, it can barely scratch the surface of such genre. There are much more healing k-dramas out there to watch, but for those who might not know these dramas, Hometown ChaChaCha would be a good start. Was this review helpful to you?
I like it
I've always liked Shin Min Ah. She's been acting for a while now and I've always felt she's been ahead of her time and this was a very good performance from her. Her character development was beautiful to watch. Even though she wasn't exactly who she was at the beginning compared to the end, she was still who she was. It's not like one of those dramas whereby someone's love interest completely changes their personalities, interests, likes, dreams etc. There was a bit of that but there's a balance to it.The male lead did a good job as well. Not a job another actor may not have done better but he was decent. However as I watched I kept thinking to myself "wow, this guy is too good to be true" and that is exactly why I loved the character. The reason we love stories and clichés is because the characters do not only reflect who we are but they also show what we want to be.
I love shows with communities that yare bound together by love and loyalty be it family, friends, neighbourhoods etc and this show has a great collection of characters that deliver that. It was boring to watch.
Definitely recommended. Good laughs. Tears. A bit of mystery. Good show.

I'm you and you've become me
I loved it!!!!! Everything about this series is amazing! From the story (though it's a remake of a movie), characters, actors/actress, sceneries, lines, OST, and just plainly camaraderie of everyone involved in making this wonderful series.Every episodes are relatable, not far-fetched, well-acted, deliveries of lines, character's development and side stories are all heart warming, tear-jerking, sweet, funny, frustrating and just simply what it's claiming, a healing series.
Actors/actress gave their best, delivered their lines, showed us how to react: whether to cry, smile, squel, laugh, get angry, frustrated and just simply enjoy the series. I'm always a fan of Shin Min Ah and Kim Seon-Ho, and was happy with this great pairing.
I will miss my "Shik-Hye" couple and everyone in Gongjin neighborhood. It's like I've become a member of the community and now I'm saying goodbye to them.
Also, I love the OST of this series. I've downloaded it already so I can listen to it whenever I want to.
Anyway, if you haven't watch it yet, you better start it now. Definitely worth the time and effort!
