Twisted and Dark
If you're a big fan of the Twisted and Dark Korean dramas like Penthouse, Sky Castle, Mine and World of the Married as you're new to watching jdrama and looking for similar drama then watch RISKY.This drama is not good for the faint of the heart so don't watch this if you're not used to dark elements like: cheating, morally ambigiuous characters, miscarriage, rape, and so forth. This drama is not for everyone it is made for people who enjoy dark plot.
This drama is about the main character who vows revenge on the people who brought misery of the suffering of her older sister. The main character is so genius at hacking and good at faking her feelings. She is also genius in deceiving people like the ex-boyfriend of her older sister and the woman who had a one night stand the older sister's ex-boyfriend. The elements of revenge is very very strong and filled with plot twists in Episode 1 and 2- I just WOW with the main character for so good at faking at it and her accomplice would make you shock also. In Episode 6, this is the turning point of the story made it look like PENTHOUSE making the dead bring back to life and will make you crazy that will make your mind twisted!! The ending was way too rushed and also lacks explanation how did this dead brought back to life?! And also the story didn't update to the end what happened to that crazy woman and the weak man..
Overall, I love how Japan is sooo good in making makjang stories like this I hope they can make more dramas. Revenge drama is one of the forte of Jdrama. I love how they perfectly execute the elements of revenge and they should make the story more detailed in order to be understood by the viewers.
For the actors:
Yuki Furukawa- I've seen him in Itazura na Kiss play a role in a romcom drama and he played an antihero in Lychee, and it is my first time to see Yuki Furukawa play a role as a cheater like he made my teeth gritted for doing that but he did a good job as expected with the veteran. I can say that Yuki Furukawa is your flexible actor who would do his best in a cute role or a darker role!
Hagiwara Minori - I'm not familiar with her and it's my first time to see her in a drama. She left me an impression that she's not just a cutesy but she knows how to act badass in this drama! I love how she carry out her role as an antihero and it is not an easy role that she portray to show more emotions. It is also rare for an actress in Jdrama to play roles like this. I want to see more main roles for Hagiwara Minori because she's a best actress with flexibility in portraying roles
Kinoshita Rio - I'm also not familiar with her and my first time to see her in a drama. Just like Hagiwara Minori she also did a difficult role in a drama as a woman whom being two timed with, manipulative character, problem child, obssessive character and psychopath. Her execution in this drama as that kind of character was an exellent that it also made me angry with her character but I pity her character because of her flashbacks. I want to see more dramas for Kinoshita Rio.
Miyachika Kaito - I have watched him in Influence alongside with Kanna Hashimoto and etc., He is a rising star but skills of a veteran also. He always plays the role in dark plotted drama but he never disappoint me with acting skills. He played a role in Influence as a bad boy and now he plays the role of a good man who is also a contributor and helper in revenge with the main character. I love how he carry out and he knows how to act to deceive a person in that drama! I want to see more of his dramas!!
Fukagawa Mai - I'm not familiar with her also and it's my first time to see her in this drama. I didn't expect how good she was i this drama even if she is playing a supporting role but her acting skill is superb also. In the first few episodes she knoews how to act sweet and the later episodes she knows how to act like a cold hearted person. I want to see more of her dramas
Overall, I love the actors mentioned above and all of them deserves a main lead role. I hope they could give them chance to this talented actors.

Different
It was a very different type of revenge. The last two episodes showed a different type of revenge and jealousy that no one speaks of, which is sibling rivalry; you have to give up when you are a sibling's caregiver. To me, Hirose Kanata made her own unhappiness by the decision she made when she was dating Sakurai Toru, not letting him meet Hirose Hinata or even having him over for dinner. Also not saying "no" to her sister when she wanted certain things.
Can you blame Sakurai Toru for cheating on her with Kuroda Mika? Yes, absolutely; he should have told her how he really felt and had a good conversation on how he wanted the relationship? Sad to say, Kuroda Mika is a psycho, and she needs therapy; she killed an unborn child. I didn't forgive her for that.

If you like mystery and plot twists this drama is for you
The more minutes you watch, the more you will want to know what will happen in the next episode. At first I thought it was a normal drama, romantic and stuff. But nooo. This drama was screaming REVENGE. And the person who avenges is literally a GENIUS. You will also understand the psychology of every character and their backstory. At first, what I wanted as a viewer was justice. But as the story continued there were so many feelings I can't describe.
I love mystery movies and have seen many, but this drama is something else. The ending leaves you wanting more, as there was no ending for the side characters. However, I think this drama is a must watch. Loved it!
(I think this drama deserves a higher rating.)

Good Enough
Japanese Drama " Risky " has a well-crafted dark atmosphere. The drama starts quite intriguing, with a to-the-point cinematography, a gloomy feel to every shot, and some marvelous camera angles that add to the thriller. The performances suited the story perfectly as well, and gave a twisted note to the events. The beginning, actually, is pretty exciting, with lots of suspense, as the plot is slowly being unfolded and the characters are being introduced. However, the drama slowly loses its might, as the ending falls flat and the whole story doesn't manage to give a good perspective of the characters. The twists were messy too.
So, overall, six out of ten.

The story started strong, and took off well until it crashed down in the last two episodes. The plot twist was an insult to audience!
Anyways, the actors were great and since I don't know them well, I tell you about my first impression of them:
Minori Hagiwara (Hinata): Her duality in this show was insane! Like, in one scene she was your dream girl and in another one was a revenge-driven person; as if there were two personas. I like to see more of her.
Yuki Furukawa (Toru): In our native language, there's a slang "shol-tonbun" which literally means "the one with loose pants" but it's a metaphor for someone who's in a hurry, or gets easily seduced and turned on, and Toru is a real "shol-tonbun"! He was undecided in love. In two words, he was "disgusting" and "pitiful"
But about the actor himself, I liked his portrayal of Toru (in some scenes I felt he's acting like a robot, I may be wrong) and I'm willing to see other things of him.
Rio Yamashita (Mika): "Psycho, Obsessive, Lonely and Angry" these words portray Mika well. Like lady you need serious therapy! However, it's her mom's fault too. If she payed attention to Mika during her childhood days, Mika wouldn't become a psycho.
(Remember that parents' upbringing has the most effect of creating the child's personality and character)
Rio was perfect! Like she's really cute in real life but her portrayal of a psycho, love-less woman was insane (like Shin Yeeun in The Glory).
Miyachika Kaito (Kota): He reminds me about S.Coups & Mingyu from Seventeen. His acting was great here - what a talented man - and I liked his pairing with Minori.
It doesn't worth watching it, unless you're bored.

I watched this because of Yuki Furukawa
First things first, all the characters need therapy. Second, the story seems to be rushed and the sibling problems between Hinata and Kanata seem to be "not a plot twist". As always, Yuki Furukawa did a great job to play the role of a cheater. Satoru seems to be longing for love and assurance that's why it's easy for him to pick another girl and cheat on them again. Kouta is the only one who I can trust here. Mika really needs some therapy, she undergoes a lot of trauma but that does not excuse her from being selfish. She killed an unborn child and she must pay for it. The actors did a great job, the rushed story may not give 100% justice to their acting, but the story is quite decent enough to have an 8.5 score in my rewatch value. Was this review helpful to you?
An Entertaining Ride
RISKY was a short Japanese drama that slowly became more of an more intriguing series as it progressed. While not a super fast paced series, it certainly had it's moments of dark suspense and offered a good few twists along the way. The drama was well acted and framed and the story line itself was rather compelling, keeping the viewer on the edge until the ending. The cinematography itself was good as well, adding to the darker atmosphere.I felt a bit let down with the ending myself, however it wasn't the worst. I just felt it could have been much better. While the acting was all very good and believable, the main female lead grew to be a bit dislikeable, and it was a bit hard to root for her in the end. Otherwise, this was an intriguing series. Great to try if looking for a short Japanese suspense drama. It's only 7 episodes long. Worth a try.

On a positive note, the ending is unpredictable and atmosphere is very well done. Instead of this, I recommend another Japanese thriller from 2021, the excellent Influence.
