I was skeptical when I started watching but after 2 or 3 episodes it got better.

I had seen Ao Rui Peng in 'blood of youth' drama, but the rest of the cast is new to me.
The acting is for the most parts okay. sometimes it's meh but it's not that bad.

The costumes are good.
I have minor complaints on hairstyles though Most of the casts styles looked decent! Some of them didn't really fit in there?! idk how to say it, you'll know when you see them.

I'm not a fan of listening to people's eating and chewing sounds so I couldn't stand FL's eating scenes and that other kid she knew (forgot his name).

The plot and everything is decent enough to me.
This is the first time ever that I'm not annoyed by a love triangle!
They had good chemistry. Be it FLxFu Hong or FLxMurong Chong, I wouldn't be sad. That being said, I prefer the later, Though the sibling pretense makes it awkward to root for it.

Here comes my real issue with this drama: The Ending! it was.... Ah bad? Lazy? idk what to call it.
I do get what they intended to do but this isn't how you do it! I've seen another drama having similar idea but executed very well! So, yes, in the end I am disappointed.
If it wasn't for the ending and the annoying eating sounds, I would've given it 7.5 or 8.
will I rewatch? I don't think so.

Anyways, if you want something to pass time, it's an okay watch.
My advice to those who want to watch this : Do Not watch the last 10 minutes of last episode.

Started well, ending a flop.

Ending was a flop. What started out well, towards the end from episode 20 onwards the storyline gets disconnected and had a silly ending.

It started with an interesting script and storyboard. The FL provided the humour with her antics. BL is heavy in this drama. They tried to lighten it with a romance between ML and FL but failed terribly.

Midway, it got tense and the intricacies of the plot somehow made it less watchable.

Quite disappointed that the ending couldn't be more tight and better explained. Possibly due to different scriptwriters or they just didn't know how to end the story which seems heavy on BL.

Nope. Don't waste your time

I mistakenly believed that the drama was an Academy Martial Arts drama, but it turned out to be far from it. The plot is needlessly ridiculous, the cast is below average, and the conclusion is utterly disappointing.

The storyline about a girl searching for her origins is overshadowed by a ridiculous love triangle between two guys and herself, where none of them seem to be genuinely in love with each other. The way I interpreted it was one guy had a crush on both male and female but because of the Chinese censor it is just blurred. However, many jealous scenes suggest he wanted the other guy's attention. The girl went back and forth but kept them both in the friend zone. No happy ending, no love story. A possible threesome or just friendship.

But that's not the worst part. The master is a joke, and the villains are laughable. And don't even get me started on the annoying sound effects that include stomach growling, footsteps, and eating noises. I mean, seriously, who wants to listen to that?

Trust me, don't waste your time watching this mess. It's a bad idea, and you'll regret it.

A Wild Tale: Chaotic Scriptwriting with Plot Holes and Logic Flaws

So, here's the scoop on this drama – it's like trying to catch a greased-up pig at a carnival. The script? It's like a squirrel on an espresso binge, darting all over the place without a care in the world. You start off thinking you're in for a sensible plot, but suddenly it nosedives off a cliff into a pit of absurdity.

The story is supposed to be about this super-secret martial arts script that makes people the crème de la crème of fighters. But guess what? It's not much of a secret when everyone and their grandma are going all "gimme that script!"

The drama is set in this historical backdrop, but don't expect any history lessons. It's like mixing your cereal with orange juice – just doesn't go together. It's wuxia with a dash of xianxia thrown in for good measure.

Now, brace yourselves for the rollercoaster of relationships. At first, you've got these two buddies, Murong Chong (Ao Ruipeng) and Fu Hong (Deng Chaoyuan aka Aaron Deng), looking all chummy. But out of nowhere, they start chomping on bananas together. Yep, bananas! Then Xiao Ru (Zong Yuanyuan), a street urchin, gets roped into impersonating Murong Chong's supposedly dead sister. She's like "Oh, Fu Hong, you're handsome and sweet!" But wait, she's betrothed to Fu Hong, and he's crushing on her too. Suddenly, Murong Chong's like "Step aside, Fu Hong!" It's like a love triangle in a washing machine.

But that's not all – there are more twisted family ties here than a bowl of spaghetti. Character development? Nah, these folks are about as one-dimensional as a pancake. The acting is emotionless; even when the going gets tough, their expressions don't match the situations.

And don't even get me started on the final showdown – it's like watching synchronized swimming, literally. By the end, you're left with more questions than answers. Who's Xiao Ru, and where did she pop out from? Apparently, she's a time traveler, but it's as random as finding a pineapple in Antarctica.

My Verdict

In the end, this drama's about as clear as mud. It's a hot mess that even a GPS can't navigate. Save your sanity – go watch something else.

Could have been really good if directed better

I like Ruipeng Ao in Blood of Youth since he did a good role portrayal in that series. I watched this because of him. Its weird that if you search for Ruipeng Ao, this series isnt even listed under his list of drama.
I can't say for sure whats not clocking here but my points are mainly for the effort, costumes, and plot.
Based on my perspective, its not directed well. The scene transition is not smooth. Theres scenes that wod come up out of nowhere thats not related and i wondered what was it and why that was shown. The editing could have been better.
I started wondering at first if this is a semi BL the way it started.
The chemistry is not there. The Female Lead (FL)' portrayal of her role is a bit irritating. The beauty of the male leads didn't seem to jive with hers.
The acting for most artists are good except for few that to me overdid it with their facial expression.
The good part is the story. Its good enough to watch but i did fast forward a lot.

Sweet and Watchable Martial Arts Story

I am enjoying this short drama so far. It's super cute and high on charm. The story is the most important aspect, and I am finding it sufficiently engaging. Not anything amazing, but definitely watchable. My main and only complaint here is the FL. She is unusually plain looking. No, I don't mean that she is unattractive physically, but the average young Chinese woman on my street is twice as beautiful as this FL. Within the drama, they kept bringing up her good looks, so it was also a character trait that this actress just doesn't have. It didn't help that her character stuffs her face with food at every available opportunity, without closing her mouth while she chews. I know it was meant as a comedic character quirk to make her more relatable, but I found it incredibly unpleasant. The FL is rude, disgusting, and greedy, but we are meant to look past all that because of her peasant status and her good heart. Well, I personally couldn't look past all of this, or perhaps she didn't possess enough redeeming qualities to offset her faults.

It bothers me that wherever there is male friendship, there is talk of BL. Think of what kind of message that sends. Men can't have friendships anymore without being accused of non-platonic relations. It sickens me to think that male friendship can be perverted by mainstream media. Friendship is sacred, regardless of gender, which is also why I am against this genre called BL, because it's exploiting homosexuality. The male friendship in this drama (so far) is its strongest story arch, and it doesn't need any kind of love gimmick to make it more interesting. So far, romance in this drama has taken a back seat to actual story, as it should. I'm a bit worried about where the story is going, but so far, if they hadn't hired a "Zhao Lu Si" type, plain-looking, broad comedy actress, this would have been a really good drama.

This drama made me furious, waste of time

the ML and 2nd ML are SO DUMB. Murong Bao died due to their stupid plan. Murong Bao was my fav character, the loyal side kick. The maid also died for the FL as the FL fled heartlessly with the ML. The maid stopped Murong Wei with her life on the line to protect her lady JUST CUZ her lady gave her shoes. This plot is so dumb. I keep imagining this as a quick transmigration book where these cannon fodders come back to life with a system and get revenge. these cannon fodders are simply used as devices to move the plot ahead. ik this is just a drama but wtf. And i also hate how we didnt get to find the whole truth of the FL's real identity till the very end. Honestly 2nd ML was way hotter than the ML too, he was more charming and captivating aswell despite the cute banter the ML and FL had. The 2 ML's had more bromance than they had romance w the FL. In the end the FL didnt even choose a man to end up with. so there IS NO ML ig.... Also, the ML cant act to save his life ? I noticed this when I watched his other drama "wrong carriage right groom" but oh god, its horrendous yet also funny at the same time cuz he keeps flaring his nostrils every sec and looking evil glaring at everyone. Also, the FL's name isnt even Zhuwan yet they kept calling her by that name and she was okay w it. also the twist at the end was CRAZY and so dumb. The ending and origin story was also pretty dumb and unfulfilling. LIKE WHAT DO U MEAN the fl was just an actress acting out her script Overall it was an interesting watch but not something id recommend.

Good Start, but what is the point of last 20 minutes of the last episode?

This series embarked on a captivating journey right from its inception. The male lead performance is notably impressive, effectively anchoring the show. Complementing this, we have a delightful female lead who adds her charm to the mix. The supporting characters, infused with humor and engaging traits, manage to maintain the viewer's interest, propelling the narrative into its midway point.

However, as the story progresses, a noticeable shift becomes apparent in the scripting. Scenes begin to intercut abruptly, leaving one to ponder whether this alteration was prompted by production constraints or a deliberate reduction in episode count. Consequently, the overall quality of the series experiences a slight dip. Yet, it retains a level of appeal that sustains itself until the climactic final moments.

In these closing stages, a sense of uncertainty arises. It's unclear whether the director's vision or the screenwriter's intent is at play. Are they striving for innovative storytelling, or is the intention to conclude the series with some loose ends? This unexpected turn takes the audience by surprise, leaving them with unanswered questions and a sense of intrigue. Certainly, this was an unexpected twist that caught the audience off guard.

What was that?

It started out great. Some episodes made me cry from laughing. When I got to episode 18, it all changed.

It got so messy and boring, with al the politics and plotting. At that point everything sweet turned sour. I'm almost at the end of episode 21 now and thinking whether to quit or keep watching this untill the last episode.
The two ML's are handsome and kind, their friendship looks strong. The FL is a sweet, wild person and very loyal to the people she cares about. She puts her life in danger to save them.
I did watch untill the end because I wanted to know who did what , where and why.
All I can say is " what the heck was that?".

light entertainment -scrolled forward from episode 17 onwards.

Martial Art World. The Plot ist not deep, it's focusing on comedy romance. From episode 17 onwards I scrolled forwards because I want to know the "origin" of the female lead.

Unfortunately, the ending is open and it's unclear what its origin is. She opens a box, looks inside, smiles, and that's it. At the end, she says a sentence indicating that she is from another world. That's all. If you are watching the series because you really want to know what makes her special and where she comes from, there's no need to finish it, as this is not revealed. There are only hints.

But it was funny, at least in the beginning, and there are some nice fighting scenes.

Wanru’s Somewhat Rambling Journey

Using my personal rating system of "loved," "liked," "meh," & "nah," this started as a “liked” but ended up a “meh”.

Spoilers ahead b/c I didn't follow the rules of writing a review. :D

The deets:
Young woman with a mysterious past (with hints that she’s been transmigrated from our world into an alternate one) who lives on the streets and makes money by scamming people tries to scam the wrong person and ends up being forced to take on a false identity. She apparently is identical to a developmentally delayed daughter of a powerful pugilistic clan. The lady of the clan has decided to sacrifice the life of the developmentally delayed daughter—who is the daughter of a concubine—in exchange for healing son by blood. But since the lord of the clan really likes his daughter, she decides to replace her instead with our FL. Our ML notices right away that something is not right with his half-sister and quickly figures out she is fake (which helps with the ”ick” factor of him falling in love with his half-sister’s face and name; they were also raised separately so he didn’t grow up with her, either). The half-sister is betrothed from infancy to our SML (more costume/period dramas with Deng Chao Yuan please!) who turns out to be a very decent guy. All three meet up at a pugilistic academy for young people where about half the action takes place until the plot kind of falls apart and they spend a lot of time hiding out in luxurious bamboo houses in the woods while they fight the machinations of various powers-that-be in the pugilistic world.

Things I liked:
The story started out very interesting. It’s a short drama, ~30 minute episodes with a total of 24. For being relatively low budget, it kept me very interested basically until the end of the “academy” arc. The fight scenes were really well done. I didn’t have any objections to the way the three leads were written, they were all decent people, their motivations seemed solid.

Things I did not like so much:
This drama could not decide if it was a BL between our two male leads or a reverse-harem between all three leads. The most believable chemistry was between the two male leads and the chemistry between the ML and FL was a bit forced. The ML went from really disliking her to suddenly liking her and she went from crushing on the SML to suddenly falling in love with the ML. As if the script writers and director were suddenly like “oh crap, this is becoming a BL, we’d better put a beard in there STAT!” The storyline kind of fell apart after they left the academy to try and run their respective clans in the pugilistic world. It got draggy and asked one to suspend one’s disbelief A LOT! The FL supposedly had minimal martial arts yet could hold her own against trained killers whenever necessary—but only until the point it was time for a male lead to rescue her. Seriously, were the heroes live-streaming all their actions!? The evil guys ALWAYS knew what they were up to and yet the heroes were always relying on pigeons that magically found their target to matter where they were. And also, everyone could apparently travel huge distances in a couple hours. I get that in a wuxia you have to suspend your disbelief a little—all the flying round & stuff—but there’s a limit. The ending is happy but ambiguous as in the FL never really settles on her choice of male lead.

Should you watch it?
I found it free on YouTube. It’s relatively short. The male leads are easy to look at. The FL is sweet with a good heart and not a complete idiot. It was pretty decent at first and by the time it gets less interesting, you don’t have that much farther to go to get through it.
