A RIDE LIKE NO OTHER

Expressing my love for this rare Masterpiece.

I've never written a review before. bla bla bla ... ..... , You already know this is a serious business proposal.

kdrama proposal:
1. Some serious business is about to start
2. Perfect casting
3. No dragging
4. No dragging
5. Refined clichés (a lot of)
6. Intensity
7. remarkable comedy
8. Serious plot holes when necessary
9. No supporting osts to make it better.
10. Original kdrama
11. Nostalgic
12. No more
Kdrama proposal? More like A business proposal to me.

It touches every possible k-clichés, And it does it with a touch of really good comedy, an unbeatable pace and a less awkward presentation. As It took me back to 2015 through 2018, It reminded me of the "real" kdramas which made me an addict I am today. We need this kind of refreshers every year to cope with the modern trend of deviation ,aka internationalization, ffs.

How it handled multiple complicated situations which would take episodes in other dramas. How it dealt with the trauma without dragging it with hints and making a big deal out of it to the extent of making the audience uncomfortable.

It's the only drama which I just had to repeat too many scenes over and over before and after finishing many of the episodes. It took me more than 2 hours to finish some episodes all due to repetition and interaction with it's remarkably active fanbase to project my happiness. It was an experience to remember.

I keep asking myself how do you come up with such perfect casts? Every single cast was just so good that you can't picture someone else in that role. I loved all likeable characters. I never liked, nor understood the two unlikeable characters.

I don't understand the hype

As all of us know it's a cliché poor FL x rich ML story. But I've read that it's well done and fun to watch (I mean currently the MDL rating is 8.8), so I did have a certain expectation, even if it wasn't much. And yes, I was disappointed. To be exact, it's the main characters that disappointed me the most.

Characters
I don't know what's likable about the ML except his appearance (he's hella cute with his hair down!). I usually don't like flawless characters, since perfection makes them often inhuman & less charming, which is also the case here imo. He was cliché jealous, was throwing his money every way possible to show his love, has the cliché trauma, that almost nobody knows about, doesn't try to really understand the FL and bulldozes his way through to get the FL, etc. I really don't see his charming points...
As for the FL, she is fun to watch, but felt very flat. She is just your typical romcom kdrama FL. I would have liked to see more of her passion for food, that would have added more to her character instead her job was used merely as a connection to ML. Wasted potential...
I first liked the 2nd FL, but as time passed, she got annoying, especially after they started dating. I think her behaviour as a girlfriend was supposed to be funny, but for me that wasn't the case at all...
2nd ML was neither good nor bad. His appearance was fine of course 😏

Romance
2nd couple's encounter was well done and how they got closer was good imo.
What felt meh, was the main couple's story: The rich ML falls in love with the unique FL. It wasn't well executed imo. It had funny parts, but I think it could have been better. And as I have understood, FL doesn't really like the ML, but rather what he does for her in the name of love, which is mainly throwing around money.

When I watched this, I was reminded of What's wrong with secretary Kim, since both of series have similar ML (character & appearance) & both fall in love with their employees. I didn't like WWWSK much, since I didn't really understand how she fell in love with him, but I have to say it was better than Business proposal...

If you like this trope and don't need a deep character or story, you might like it a lot, otherwise it's not worth it imo.

The Perfect RomCom

I’m usually someone that finds romcoms uninteresting because they typically follow the same storyline. Coincidence after coincidence and the couple falls in love. This drama has all the coincidences but it’s how it portrays them that makes this work.

There are instances where the adaptation really stand out. This drama is self aware of its fiction and does it perfectly with stylized scenes and camera work. You’d have to watch to see what I mean, I’m just in awe of how a simple storyline that seems so cliche and is, can keep my attention. All the characters are likeable and aren’t too complex, rather they are relatable and the credit has to go to the actors portraying them.

The leads and even the side couple are people I want to end up together and characters I like. Even if the president of the company is arrogant and full of himself, the drama is aware and the acting plays it up so well Ahn Hyp Seop is beyond handsome and perfect for the role. Kim Min-Kyu is also handsome and perfect and they play off eachother as business partners so well. I love all the dynamics with the pairings in this show. From Yeong So to Ha Ri and then Tae Mu and Seong Hun, they feel like real best friends even into their adult lives. Not to mention the grandfather being one of the funniest parts of the show.

To sum it up Business Proposal is a Romantic Comedy with a classic hidden identity plot line. But it doesn’t have a liar reveal (which I hate) instead it has awareness and fun gags and bits. The actors play off eachother so well and it’s worth the watch if you want a feel good drama with romance scenarios

Full of Kdrama clichés but well played and enjoyable. Worth watching because of the cast!

Nothing new, nothing fancy and kinda weak plot. Predictable and not so original.

I’m not saying it’s bad as I really enjoyed watching it. The leads are so charming and I love the series because of them. It’s something refreshing since there were only few rom-com dramas that recently aired that are really comical and absorbing.

The good thing about this series is not the plot but the Characters and how they gave justice to their roles. They are really great actors; very amusing that’s why it kept the audience watching. There are no boring episodes and the Chemistry between 2 couples is impressive.

I really like Se jeong and Hyo seop that's why I put this drama on my list even before it aired. Although there is nothing remarkable about the plot I love how it is entertaining that’s why the drama is commendable. Thumbs up to Cast and Crew!

I am glad i started watching this after all the hype when i saw it on Netflix. I got hooked instantly and fell in love with the main-leads and the whole cast. Its a light hearted rom-com with wonderful leads that carries this show. Tae Moo is a full of himself but cold business man that gets forced into blind dates by his grandfather. He never expects to meet the lovely and carefree Shin Ha Ri who is in disguise of her bestfriend. And he does eventually fall madly in love with her and pursues her so wonderfully, stubbornly fighting for her heart. It was just soooooo lovely. I love him. Underneath the cold businessman was a caring and gentle soul.

I also love his grandfather by the way, ahh that man made me crack up a lot of times with the way he was so invested in the romantic soap operas he was watching. Shin Ha Ri is a lovely fun heroine that lighted up the screen, i have seen this actress in "School 2017" and i just love her screen presence so much. She had great chemistry with her male lead.

Again, i am glad i picked this up. Made my days much funnier and bright.

FLUFF BREAK I NEEDED!

To be honest, I am currently watching Thirty-nine, but I needed an emotional break lol. I probably have a few episodes left but it's just a heavy and emotionally draining drama. I needed something frivolous to watch and that's exactly what I got with A Business Proposal. It was funny, cute and no really annoying love triangle. Even the secondary couple was super cute with their story. I liked how people made up their mind and stuck by their decisions instead of all this angsty wavering. If you are looking for something reliably cheery and non-threatening, or if you need a fluff break from an intense drama, give it a go. With 12 episodes you can breeze by in 2 days and still manage a reasonable amount of sleep! :)

It did it's job.

Listen, it was very cute and lighthearted mostly. The story was a little boring at times but honestly, I'd be lying if I said it was trash. I was rooting for all the couples like I was cheering for a team at a basketball game or something lol My biggest issue was the ending. I HATED it. What is it with these k-dramas and making the leads separate for a few years and then meet again? It's annoying. I mean, I know this was based on a Webtoon but still. Who reads these stories and is like "Oh perfect! a predictable ending. We need more of those!"

Lol I enjoyed it though. I mean, I wouldn't watch it again anytime soon but maybe in a few years when I completely forget the story.

A Rom-Com Rollercoster

"A Business Proposal" is a cliche in my opinion, from pretending to be a fake couple they fall in love and become a real couple. But the way they have interpreted the story and plot is just brilliant!!!!
We have seen many such storylines but " A Business Proposal" has its own unique flavor to offer to us fans.

First of all, I started this drama only because I was interested in the actors, as I had not seen any of their other works; yet i was hooked on the first 3 episodes purely because of the storyline and was at the edge of my seat to see what happens next!!!!
The initial story revolves around how Shin Ha Ri who strugglesto keep her secret from her boss with whom she is pretending to date by being someone else. The drama is filled with moments of humor and excitment never leaving an opening for boredom. Later as the story progresses the story developes and takes a more romantic turn along with justifing each character's past, fears and how they overcome it with their significant other, giving the story more and more depth and meaning, of course the humor and suspense was not compramised. Not to mention the introduction of the CRUSH and love rival which makes this story ever more so thrilling !!!!
Both the couples that is "Shin Ha RixKang Tae Moo" and "Jin Young SeoxCha Sung Hoon" showed an amazing chemistry throughout the series. And not to forget the hint of bromance which enhanced both the humor and found myself shipping them hard!!!!(for that moment )

I just love the way this drama carries out the transsision and growth of all the people involved.....it is just marvellous!!!!
Overall i gave it a 9/10, and highly recommend it to other people who are interested in a simple yet meaningful rom-com show with dramatic scenes and also to the people who love a good webtoon adaptation. I also fell in love with this particular cast and crew!!!!!

For romance k-drama lovers

If you're looking for something easy to watch, light-hearted romance with little humor on the side, then this is the drama for you.

I liked every character and pairing, I think they were well portrayed. The actors played well together and their chemistry was believable. I had seen some of the actors' works before so it was interesting to see how they would play together. I liked Kim Se Jeong (female lead) in The Uncanny Counter and she delivered a strong female character here as well (or strong female character in k-drama standards). I also liked Seol In Ah's (second female lead) character in Mr.Queen so I was overjoyed to see more of her acting here. And of course, Ahn Hyo Seop, just as I was getting over his character in Abyss and Lovers of the Red Sky, I fell for him again. *eyeroll* Typical.

But most of all, I liked the synergy between the two female leads. Their sisterly bonding is friendship goals! *chef's kiss* Actually almost all female interactions were pretty amazing, so supporting of each other. Girl power! Second pairing was almost better than the main pair. Ha Ri's co-workers were amazing, I wish I had colleagues like that. Tae Moo's grandfather was an adorable old man ^^ Also Choi Byung Chan did a good job as Ha Min, his acting has improved.

The plot didn't need that many episodes but I found myself enjoying spending time watching this series. The story doesn't drag per se but it doesn't have major dramatic plot turns either. In the end I could have watched this series on and on and on.. the characters just felt so nice and realistic. The humor was just right and it was easy to forget everything else while watching the their banter.

I definitely recommend this to everyone who loves watching romantic k-dramas. Cheers ~*

Perfect for de-stressing

This drama may not be for everyone, but I believe finding the perfect timing to watch this will make you appreciate it the most. I watched Business Proposal while ongoing, during that time when I'm going through something. On top of that, I'm on Kdrama slump after I got my heart broken by The Red Sleeve, and also because the Kdramas prevalent at that time mostly have dark/serious/melodramatic themes (and I've got no time dealing with other people's problems when I've my own). Business Proposal's arrival was a breath of fresh air. To me, this drama was like a ball of sunshine on a gloomy day; something I never thought I needed until it came. Cliche, yes. Lots of overused tropes, yes. But its predictable narrative cheered me up like an old friend. Since you already have an idea how this type of story goes, you just sign up for the fun - no tugging at our heartstrings, nothing mind-boggling, just pure fluff.

The actors did a good job, most especially Sejeong. Hari is the type of character that not just any actress can pull out. You have to be convincingly crazy to portray her, and Sejeong did that. Through her, I was able to see Hari as a competent and optimistic woman rather than a damsel in distress.

Ahn Hyo Seop and Sejeong's chemistry was surprising to me though. I didn't buy their chemistry at first knowing Ahn Hyo Seop's shy personality. But as episodes went along, I began shipping HaTae couple (not Hyoseop and Sejeong 'coz I don't really ship actors hehe). I'm glad that Hyoseop and Sejeong became close IRL since it's positively emanating through their onscreen chemistry. I even get more attached to the drama upon knowing how it's filled with their adlibs. Goes to show that the actors confidently shared their own ideas to make the scenes more entertaining. Goes to show that they really enjoyed filming this drama despite the commonplace plot.

The OSTs are fire too! There are only a few Kdramas who've got amazing OST line-ups. It will not be an overstatement that I'm tempted everyday to buy the OST album haha.

If anyone asks for my opinion about this drama, I will only remember the good things and tell how happy and excited this drama made me feel, and how this drama made me look forward to Mondays for 6 weeks (when I normally couldn’t haha).

Netflix RUINS everything!

Netflix: - "That's a cool webtoon with a nice story and characters. Let's do an adoption but with some changed".
The oblivious poor me: = "You mean like little tweaking here and there to make it fit in 16 episodes?"
- "LOL! No silly girl!" I mean, we'll change EVERYTHING—the core characteristic of the characters. We'll mess up with the storyline to the point where it doesn't make any sense. But fear not! We're keeping the names of the characters! "

If you're here because someone recommended A Business Proposal for you, walk away and go read the Webtoon. You'll have a much better experience.
If you'd read the Webtoon and would like to see the adaption, prepare to be super disappointed.
The characters had been changed to the point where they had totally lost their charm.

Kang Tae Moo is your average rich, jerk character who's insecure and was whining because she compared him to a bird. Don't mind the confidence he had in the webtoon. He's constantly shivering and in tears.
Jin Young Seo, who was not interested in competing in the webtoon, which made her win over her rival, is now a competitive person who makes up lies just to strengthen Ha ri's position.
Her rival (Jo Yoo Jung), the composed businesswoman who pushes YoungSeo to face the real world, is now an airhead. The most annoying character that ever existed.
Ha Min, the responsible, charismatic young man, is now a complete loser and good-for-nothing brother who blows money on girls!
Min Woo (her crush of 7 years) is innocent. He has a horrible girlfriend who's just horrible. Why? God knows.

The list goes on, of course. And the changes they made to the story were far more ridiculous.
It gave me (Death Note) flashbacks. Netflix takes a strong story with unique characters and changes them to fit one of the stereotypes it has.
I completely lost interest in episode 11. Thank God it's only 12 episodes because I barely forced myself to finish it.

Don't watch the drama. Read the webtoon.

Thank you!
