Not your typical “into the book” adventure ..sooo much better :D
Ireine song is a favorite of mine so she drew me to the drama initially. . I’m a sucker for going back in time, transmigration and such. , ive seen her in other dramas and to me her characters seem like they are similar to her personality in real life., She’s quirky, street smart, funny , pretty and capable. . In this drama she has her “thinking cap” on from the very first episode as shes trying to figure out where to be and what comes next.. all the while the story seems to be re-written right in front of her and that’s challenging her to know how to respond.. add to that - not revealing her “character identity “ and evading the ML who’se trying to figure out who she is and him pondering .. how does she know what he’s planning….?.When we first meet the ML (Ju) he’s the “main villain” the one FL created in her story. Initially he behaves as if he is that character but then he starts to become his own person and in some way she challenges him to become smarter to outwit her (i love the snarky way he deals with her and yet one can see that he is somewhat initially attracted to her -even as he is aware/not aware of it in the beginning. He’s the character that has a difficult background and every reason to be resentful…no one seems to understand him and the 4 royal siblings /step sibling seem to have a happy life unlike him ..they expect him to return home happy content like them
Qing (FL) seems to know his every move before he makes it and she is determined to stay alive and reveal his plots so she can go back home. . He is pretty sure she’s his “consort” who has escaped his place (because the “real Qing was a spy planted there” and he was trying to kill her ) he is determined to play cat and mouse with her (it was seriously enjoyable to see the two of them go at it :)
I loved that it wasn’t a story where the FL “ is like “i hatenyou & never fall for you..” it was more of a “ let me see what I need to do to stay one step ahead of ML ..save myself from being killed by him and change the story as I go along.” ML seemed to be intrigued by her ability to “see” him & he was determined to outsmart her. His best friend is an interesting character - he has his own story also very sad. While both are deserving of their resentment - in their plot to take down certain people other people unfortunately become collateral damage.
The moment FL realizes that a person is never angry/resentful for “no reason” and all things in life create who we are …she makes an attempt to give him a conscience.. that was actually interesting to watch bc that move changes his view of her…as in “why should she care about me ?” And we see the beginning of trust growing in him.. he’s a hard nut but she’s no frail flower and it’s those moments of challenge with opening to possible trust that sucked me in deeper. His eyes and ability to reflect his feelings through those eyes that seemed to reveal his desire to be understood and have someone believe in him .. her understanding of his character allows her to open doors that others couldn’t. There is one scene where she sings him a lullaby his mom used to sing to him to help him fall asleep that I really loved ..it was heartfelt and he falls deeper for her .
The relationships of all the characters are really fleshed out and no one is left undone. To me, the writers seemed to pull me into the story and see from many sides the strengths and weaknesses of all the main characters. This was really well done. Some characters had to follow a path that unfortunately didn’t turn out well. Throughout the story there’s a hint of romance and one could say it’s a slow burn for the leads but when the relationship starts to form -it becomes more apparent .. his focus is her and his actions show that .. I was surprised that you actually get to see real kisses, beautiful confessions ..honest understandings (and some intimacy that normally I won’t see in Chinese dramas:)
. I loved how honest they become with each other and how the trust is built to allow change to flow and some forgiveness to happen.
The ending is challenging because we all want a happy ending for all couples but I think some of the message was ..resentment and getting even doesn’t always end well. Sometimes there’s a price to pay…Whereas the ML is able to temper himself and understand the big picture (not always l.but he tries) lol …another character is unable to stop himself from trying to end his nemesis’s life and it’s that move that causes heartbreak for him .
The ending for the leads was a bit rushed for me but I :”got” the ending and thought it was cute. I would have liked more time with the leads but was happy it was not an open ending. The main consensus is the two leads need a modern drama because the chemistry was fabulous and they did an awesome job from beginning to end . I’ve watched a-lot of dramas and this one will go down as one of my favorites. I already rewatched it and plan to rewatch some episodes to see what I missed. It gets better and better as it progresses and reveals more plot, schemes, struggles , romantic feelings and sweetness
Some things happen that make you go …” wow.. did not expect that .” as well as “ oh my gosh.. he really really loves her”
so enjoy and let the story unfold ….

Can I Please Go in the Novel with Ji Chu
How would you like to become a female lead in your own novel? Such is the drama of Different Princess. Hua Qing (Ireine Song) is a novelist who has been writing her novel online. Hua Qing was proud of herself as an author for being innovative and keeping the villain evil up until the very end--killing off the male lead successfully. She had thought this idea would captivate her readers. As the novel uploaded “The Tale of Yun and Xi,” Hua Qing was excited to see all the comments. Only they were not as positive as she had hoped, as a matter of fact, the readers were livid. She had killed of their beloved male lead. The readers began to type, “Curse her, Curse her.”Being the author, she didn’t care and told them to go ahead and curse her. She was never changing the ending and a bad ending is an ending too. Well, be careful what you wish for. Her keyboard began to move on its own and her screen turned red with the words ‘Curse.” Taken aback she wiped her eyes to make sure this was what she was seeing.
The following words appeared: ‘Dear Author, your reader enmity level has reached its limit. Please change the ending of “The Tale of Yun and Xi.” Revive Ji Yun and make him topple Ji Chu. If not, the plot will backfire on you.”
Of course, Hua Qing thought it was nonsense. Reader enmity? What kind of stupid setting is this, she thought.
Then the next choices came up:
A. Change the ending.
B. No way in hell.
You know she picked “B” – no way in hell. Her computer went black and cut off. As she banged on her keyboard as well as her screen--nothing happened. She thought it just died. Tired from all the nights of getting the novel completed, Hua Qing went to sleep. Falling asleep, her computer cuts back on and takes the pages of the novel back to Chapter 3: To suppress Ji Chu, Hua Qingge marries into Liang. She was murdered by Ji Chu and thrown into the pond.
Waking up, she finds herself in wedding attire as Ji Chu with sword in hand—kills her.
Her computer states: “You’ve been killed by the backfiring plot. As you failed to change the plot, the plot shall be replayed.”
Waking up the next time, she is still in wedding attire, and very much alive.
After avoiding death, she discovers that she had now become a character in “The Tale of Yun and Xi.” Where she is Hua Qingge, Princess of Fuyu to be married to Ji Chu the villain. Her mind goes back and sees the novel in her head and remembers that she is the niece of the current empress. She came all the way from Fuyu to marry Ji Chu. People thought she died because she fell into the pond by accident, but he killed her on their wedding night.
Since the princess died on her wedding night this caused a huge conflict between the two kingdoms. That was also the reason why Ji Chu committed the deed. Under the emperor’s order, everyone acknowledge the fact that Hue Qingge slipped and fell to her death. They buried her in secret.
Thus begins Hua Qing’s journey with rewriting the novel.
The drama gives us everything that you would want – palace intrigue, villains, jealousy,
misunderstandings, poisons, deaths, stabbings, fights and solving crimes. Pretty exciting, huh? You will not be disappointed in the least.
Hua Qingge found herself at every turn trying to dissuade Ji Chu from his villainous ways, but little did she know that he had his reasons. She remembered that his mother had been poisoned, turned into a demon and killed at the emperor's birthday. Ji Chu was out for revenge to prove that the empress was the killer of his mother and plotting a rebellion.
Empress Hua Yunni always lived in the shadow of Ji Chu's mother who the emperor adored. So much so that he kept her picture hidden behind another one just to look at her. You see, he wanted Ji Chu's mother to be the empress, but jealousy prevented that by her being killed by Empress Hua Yunni who wanted her son, Ji Yun (Sun Zu Jun) the crown prince to have the throne, not Ji Chu.
We also have Ji Wan Er who was the sister to both Ji Chu, Ji Yun and Ji Feng. Sadly, Ji Feng dies at the hands of the empress. Ji Wan Er falls in love with Gong Ye Qi, owner of the Mystic Medicine House. The two fall in love. But the empress had other plans and broke them up and decided to marry her off. Then we have the marriage of Ji Yun to Lin Xi Yao. Ji Yun had his heart set on Hua Qingge, but he knew that Ji Chu would never give her up because he truly loved her.
There isn't a story without the other woman and in this case, it was the Princess Wei Nan Yi from Liang that protected Ji Chu as he was an envoy there along with Gong Ye Qi as his friend and doctor. She turned out to be a good person that knew when to give up fighting for Ji Chu but was willing to give advice to Hua Qingge in understanding him.
I found the saddest and most preventable death was that of Ji Wan Er. Ji Chu did help his sister by faking her death as she went to the other kingdom for marriage. He eventually told Gong Ye Qi who was in love with her that she was still alive. They got married and she were expecting a child. After the rebellion started by the empress at the palace, Gong Ye Qi went to settle the score of her killing his family. Getting ready to kill her, one of the panels to the hallway opened. But that time, he had already thrusted the blade towards the empress, but it was Ji Wan Er that he stabbed not the empress. She unfortunately opened the panel just as he was going to stab the empress. To see his anguish, he killed both mother and child. He never recovered from the loss.
So shall we talk about Ji Chu (Ding Ze Ren). This man will send your pulses racing. Yes, they will. His smoldering eyes, those pillow-kissed lips and that voice. You can’t help but swoon when you see him. Your eyes cannot leave him. Especially when he is with Hua Qingge. At first, we know they will not get along but when he finds out he loves her and can't be without her. You will be screaming for her to stay with this man, even though it is a novel.
Sadly, Hua Qingge realizes that the novel is coming to an end as she notices her hand fading. She makes the decision to start pushing Ji Chu away from her.
As Hua Qingge sits on the floor crying and fading, she says, "I still have so much to tell you. I haven't seen you let go of your hatred. I can't leave." Ji Chu is walking away from her until he hears her scream his name. Turning around quickly, "Qing, Qing, what's wrong with you? Don't scare me. Qing." She jumps surprisingly into Ji Chu's arms still crying, "Ji Chu, I've never betrayed you. I just wanted to duplicate a fake fish-shaped token for the empress." Comforting her as he held her in his arms he says lovingly, "I know Qing. As long as you say the word, I'll always believe you no matter what."
But as time goes by, Hua Qingge knows she has to leave him without saying a word. Ji Chu goes to find Hua Qingge but when he doesn't find her, he becomes frantic. He sends his men out to search for her. He eventually finds her fending off a would-be attacker, and of course, he gets rid of him.
JC: "You are wandering around the streets in the middle of the night instead of going home. what are you trying to do?"
Hua Qingge walks away from him only for him to get in her path.
HQ: "What is it that you need, Prince Chu?"
JC: "You are my princess consort. Of course, I'm here to take you home."
HQ: "I already told you very clearly. Why do you want to keep me by your side? The marriage between us is just a conspiracy. If everything went as planned, I would've been dead already."
JC:"I was wrong before this. But now, I can't be without you anymore."
HQ: "I'm a spy sent by Her Majesty. You know that."
JC: "I don't care."
HQ: "I do. Ji Chu we are doomed, to begin with, you are with Wei Nan Yi and are meant to be together. The two of you grew up together. Both of you are childhood friends."
Best moment ever (trust me, there are several with this man)! Ji Chu, he doesn't let her speak another word and he gave her the most passionate "don't say another word kiss". Ever, wow! His hand is locked behind her head, and he is working, I mean working that kiss. He took her breath away and will yours too. The way he looks at her after the kiss...his eyes, the love in them is really overwhelming. If you look at her, I think she even surprised herself, for the passion that she had for him.
JC: "Qing, I've never fallen for any woman other than you. How many times do you want me to tell you that? (Once is good for me) You are the only one in my heart."
She starts to fade again, and she leaves. As Ji Chu goes to grab her his hand goes right through her.
JC: "Your hand."
HQ: "Ji Chu, isn't it better to let me leave quietly?"
JC: "Leave? What's wrong with your hand? Stop keeping it a secret from me."
HQ: "Ji Chu, I'm not from this world. I am an outsider. I come from another world. I'm going to leave soon. And I won't be able to return!"
JC: "You are not from this world. Of course, you are not from here. You came from Fuyu. When everything has settled down, I'll take you home to visit your family."
HQ: "You know that is not what I meant."
JC: "If you think that's not enough, I'll conquer Fuyu after this. If you want to live in Fuyu, I'll make Fuyu the capital city of Liang."
HQ: "I'm not talking about Fuyu, Ji Chu!"
JC: "I know. I'm arrogant and cold-hearted. And I'm emotionally unstable. I'm not proactive enough and not considerate enough. Qing, if I change all of my bad habits, can you stop leaving me? " (Didn't that just break your heart?)
HQ: "Are you just going to ignore the truth?"
JC: "How much time do you have left?"
HQ: "I don't know."
JC: "Hua Qingge, I don't care who you are or where you are from. You are not allowed to leave me."
From that moment on, Ji Chu became very possessive of Hua Qingge, so much so that when he was doing his work, he made her sit on his lap while he read. (Not a bad option in my opinion). But Ji Chu did want to have a more meaningful wedding and night with Hua Qingge, and it was a good one from the looks of it.
But the novel was ending, it was time for the demise of Hua Qingge. As the empress was going all crazy and tried to kill Ji Chu. The empress holds a knife to Hua Qingge's throat. Instead of Ji Chu dying, Hua Qingge takes the knife that the empress has and slits her throat. Ji Chu is devastated. He cradles her in his arm and cries and cries as her body disappears, only to leave her gold bracelet.
Hua Qing wakes up in her bed as if no time has passed. She is crying and calling out for Ji Chu. The clocks begin to tick. She jumps up from the bed and goes to her computer and there is a new ending.
On the day Ji Yun ascended to the throne, he took poison to atone for his mother's sins. Fortunately, Gong Ye Qi saved Ji Yun. From then on, Ji Yun and Lin Xi Yao lived in seclusion at Melodious Serenity Abode, leading a peaceful life. With Gong Ye Qi's treatment, Emperor Xuanqi was saved from the brink of death but still required long-term bed rest. Therefore, Emperor Xuanqi abdicated in favor of the third prince, Ji Chu. After Ji Chu ascended to the throne, he changed the era to Xian De ushering in the flourishing age of Liang. Emperor Xian De mourned the passing of the late Princess Consort, Hua Qingge. He lived the rest of his life without remarrying, passing away peacefully in old age. - The End
The novel was well received and a guaranteed blockbuster. Leaving the office, the assistant told Hua Qing that her boss was interested in seeing her. She said that she really didn't need to see him and for him to just offer a higher copyright fee. She just bought a new laptop. She was broke. Rushing to leave, she turns around and standing in front of her is Ji Chu. She drops her new laptop. If you pay attention closely you will see the slightest uplift of his brow when she drops it. He opens up his suit coat, drops down on his knee and says, "Hua Quingge. Do you actually have no feelings for me? Are you picking me up and tossing me off?"
The ending is open to your interpretation but if you remember his parting words on the palace steps when he was the new emperor, you will understand:
"Xiao Yan, do you know what is my current wish? I'm now impatiently looking forward to finishing this life. Then go to Qing's world and take a look. "
Wouldn't we all like to take an opportunity to go into a novel? I know I would, Ji Chu, I'm coming....

Very Nice Drama.
I rate 9.5 for this drama.
Really Hoping there will be additional episodes about their interactions in the real world of hua qingge, but it seems like there aren't any.
Also, one episode is only 30 minutes, I think it's not satisfying, one episode should be 45 or 50 minutes. 30 minutes less to watch the drama Song Yiren ?.
Don't forget to watch the other current Song Yiren drama "My Special Girl" I also really enjoyed it.

Surprisingly Enjoyable, Abrupt Ending
I. IntroductionI expected this to be a budget short-length costume drama, but I surprisingly enjoyed it overall. This drama enacts all the times we read a novel and felt the urge to write fan fiction to right the wrongs in the novel. In Episode 1, we find out that the FL had written a horrid ending to her web novel for shock value, as her earlier 'logical' works did not garner much readers' interest (or generate money). FL is sucked into her web novel to, well, write (get it?) the wrongs.
It was difficult to determine the mood the drama intended to invoke. The drama oscillated between comedy and explicit gore and torture, ending in sudden tragedy for the third couple but a happy ending for the main couple. Romance also wasn't really the main theme of this drama, but if it was aiming for palace intrigue, well, the real villain is practically tap dancing naked across the screen. This identity crisis, together with some poor production choices and editing, lands it a solid 8 instead of a higher score.
II. Story & Plot
The larger part of the drama fleshes out the motives and desires of the novel characters, giving flesh to what was the FL's skeletal web novel. While you can spy the real villain from a mile away, the overall pace was engaging and consistent.
The one thing this drama fumbled is the romance aspects. The romance between the FL and ML doesn't spark until episode 18-- in fact, the ML is actively trying to murder the FL in episode 1 and thus, the FL assumes the ML is masterminding a horrible death for her every time he tries to romance her. The FL discovers some hidden skills in her character (but these skills are never mentioned again when the drama needed the ML to show his heroic side) and successfully escapes. The FL scurries around like a busy hamster solving cases and causing the 2ML (who is the ML in her novel-- oh the inception!) to inadvertently fall for her brains instead of the 2FL (the FL in her novel). The ML is constantly testing the FL, with no real intention to kill her after episode 1, but suddenly develops a life-sacrificing affection for the FL when he realises she had saved him from assassins. What I did enjoy was the general lack of misunderstandings between the FL and ML-- any misunderstanding is quickly resolved, because both actively choose to trust each other. Meanwhile, the 2FL bravely confesses to the 2ML, and the latter in a moment of serendipity, agrees to marry her. Their relationship never develops beyond friendship, and they abruptly retire to the countryside to live an idyllic couple life at the end of the drama. The 3ML and 3FL fall in love with each other at first sight, and like Romeo and Juliet, failed to consider the ramifications of their actions and lack of communication, despite both supposedly possessing intelligent characters.
The story ends on a rather abrupt note. People are offing themselves and dropping like flies, although not unexpected. The storyline was designed so that you wouldn't be shocked by the decisions made, but at the same time, the last episode felt like they had too many loose ends to wrap and so they took a giant pair of scissors and snapped off all the threads in one go.
III. Characters
The casting team did a good job casting the right actors for the right roles, even for the supporting and guest roles. None of them are familiar to me, but each took to their role adequately. At times, the script appears to completely forget the quirks and idiosyncrasies that had been written in for the characters, just so that the writing/ editing team could fallback to common tropes, but none of this is the fault of the actors. IS as the FL is a wide-eyed, bushy-tailed hamster who is busy trying to piece a proper story together so that she can return home quickly, completely ignorant of the ML and 2ML's amorous intentions. DZR is a twisted ML, traumatised by his past and now has no qualms returning like for like. I won't delve into the supporting characters as there is a really long list, but suffice to say, I have no complaints about their characters or acting.
IV. Production Aspects
This is where I will question the taste and style of the production team. There were very odd hairstyle choices, e.g., the FL during the ancient era, the ML during his villain arc, the ML in the modern era, the 3FL's formal hairdo, and odd costume choices, e.g., the FL's cold shoulder dress, the ML's cold shoulder dress (yes, you read that right), and the ML's silver rooster comb. Any complaints that the casting team casted the wrong actors should really be a critique of the costume and hair team for the awful choices. Otherwise, there were some beautiful costumes, beautiful sets, beautiful takes, and beautiful melodies.
V. Conclusion
I was pleasantly surprised-- but this could be because I had very low expectations for it in the first place as I had erroneously assumed this would be 10-minute episodes. It is a remix of (yet another) transmigration-themed drama, but it had sufficient number of novel plot points that I wasn't bored with any part of it. Due to the abrupt ending, this may not be for everyone. Only watch if you will not get invested in the side pairings.

I think maybe the end could be better worked
The Male lead was so intense and well interpret and the female lead was cute and funny. The main actor knows very well how pass the vibe of a anti hero but against this good points in the end look like they don't have enough time to work because some good points was left aside the main couple deserved a better end were they could have a relationship in this life too. Another point who annoys me was the only character who have a happy end was the Ji Yun ,I don't think that he deserv that because in certain poit he defend the empress who was responsible for killer his brother and all the other characters. Was this review helpful to you?

Transmigration
Honestly it's a really good show and I highly recommend watching it if you're interested, but I'm tired of China doing the transmigration plot where the MC goes to a historical world and falls in love and then comes back to the modern world where they meet the person they fell in love with again and then it ends, no continuation or even a little extra something, like an romance arc in the mofern world. That aside, the cast all has really good chemistry with each other and the plot is very interesting, you will 100% wanna commit murder on some of the characters whilw watching but that just means the actor/actress is really good at their job. So if you like romance and angst and historical setting then it's definitely a good one to watch. ?Was this review helpful to you?

So I will give 10/10 ratings because I liked the story and I also like the characters, I used to not like watching dramas in China but from the beginning I watched Song YiRen as Sang2 there and I became interested because I saw how great her acting is. not as so called very beautiful as other viewers want, but for me she is the one I like the most because of her talent when it comes to acting, I like her attitude, she is a happy child so she gets along well with all her co-workers, one what I like most about him is that he is very simple. that's all I can say about this drama ,The story goes well, the villain becomes the hero in the end and the role is perfect for Ding Zeren, the expression in his eyes when he looks scary, and Song YiRen's acting is perfect in the role, even though others think it is small for me he does well in every role that is given to him. Entertaining Rom-Com with a little bit of mystery and tons of Good Looking People
What a bunch of good looking people in one frame. The story is pretty shaky but it is fun to watch the FL's shenanigans. Someone rightfully said, it is quite similar to the romance of tiger and rose. I started watching this one right after I finished tiger and rose and it gave me the same feel.So far only seen 20 episodes and all of them were pretty good. The romance is slow burn but when it happens it is very sudden. The ML falls first. The FL is constantly wondering if the ML is going to kill her.
I also like the other couples in the story. Before finishing the drama I wondered how it was going to end, if it was going to have a rushed ending like tiger and rose or more drawn out one like Lost Romance. But in Lost Romance at least the FL & ML knew each other before crashing into novels. In here, the ML is purely fictional so far. So, maybe it might have an open ending like Please Fall into love.
But it was neither, it was more like the ending of the Unique Lady. Screenwriters using this trope need to do better with the endings. Stop with the open endings, there are 36 episodes in total. This needed to be planned better, there were quite a few other arcs that could have been avoided.

A Romance Between a Quirky Princess and her Evil Husband
I went into this drama with zero expectations. I was suffering from a drought of good Chinese dramas and decided to pick this one on a wimp. I’m so glad that I did, because the storyline is engaging, the ML is a handsome hedgehog who looks eternally scary but is a gentle marshmallow; the supporting cast is equally engaging. Well, you might be wondering why I haven’t talked about the FL, because it’s obvious from the synopsis that this show is related to the female protagonist’s transmigration. I won’t necessarily call Hua Qing Ge a strong character; but she is street smart and is making the most of a situation she is trapped in. Kudos to the costume department for dressing the male lead, Ding Ze Ren in the most resplendent costumes that I have ever seen in a Chinese drama; it just adds a chilly aura to his coldhearted personality. The settings are equally grand and it makes for an entertaining watch!Read the complete article here-
