Both movies directed by Akira Kurosawa are about lordless samurai. Also Toshiro Mifune in both.

Another masterpiece by Kurosawa. These two are often compared to each other and discussed which one is better.

I am pretty sure that the makers of Seven Swords drew the idea from Seven Samurai. Both movies about seven skilled fighters who do their best to protect a village from certain enemies. Of course, Seven Swords is a Wuxia movie while the other is a Samurai movie.
