Children of the Hongqi Canal (2007)

This play records the story of the descendants of the "Hongqi Canal" in Linzhou, Henan. Stepping out of Taihang and the mountains, under the impact of the tide of reform and opening up, they enter the city to engage in construction and second entrepreneurship. Through the unique excavation and depiction of the life experiences and mental journeys of the old and new generations of Linzhou, this drama explores and interprets the new connotation of the "Hongqi Canal Spirit" in the new era. Through the conflict of fate and the concept of the two generations of Hongqiqu people, the contradiction and collision between the old and the new concepts of the "Hongqiqu people" are revealed. After hard work, the descendants of "Hongqi Canal" turn from poor people to rich people, from wage earners to small bosses to big bosses, from "hillies" to "urban men", showing the difficult process of evolution from agricultural civilization to urban civilization. This process is full of hardships and challenges, full of loss and pain. But human society gets out of the chaos and ignorance of this pain and, step by step grows toward prosperity and civilization.
