This fanfic story hangs by a weak thread

This series really confuses me. It honestly feels like I’m watching the serialized version of a BL fanfic. I wouldn’t be surprised if the writers just wrote a bunch of tropes in pieces of paper and developed a story around the one they pulled from a hat, at random. I’d guess they got: dead mom, late in the story secret girlfriend, protagonist traveling abroad in the last episode, family issues, evil stepmom, trauma, and misunderstood rich protagonist.

I honestly think that Chap and Green have chemistry, but the story simply doesn’t allow them to do much. The only truly good thing in The Tuxedo is the music, which is A+.

a very obvious low budget drama

the fact that the drama only played for 8 episodes with at least 18 per ep, it was very telling that this was a mini drama with low production budget.

this drama in a nutshell was a drama that I wont waste a braincell in it. it was not bad but also not good. the saving grace for this one was probably the visuals of the actor and hearing jeff satur in the start, middle and end of the drama. lmao (betting my fortune they probably paid 1/4 of their budget to make jeff sing 2 of the songs XDDD)

go in with caution with this one.

A passing drama

The drama was not the best out there, maybe bordering to bad and good. The story could've been great if the drama was given longer scene durations and episodes.

Let me just say that the actors in the drama are all good-looking lol. The set and production design are also beautiful, esp. the studio. I also appreciate the suits, I'm not that fashionable to comment on that aspect but I still appreciate the fashion.

Acting wise, I believe that if the drama was longer, the actors could've have given their best but since it's just 8 episodes and 20 something minutes, they were restricted. Still, the acting wasn't bad and amateurish.

Contrary to some reviews about the music, the two OSTs by Jeff Satur are my taste when it comes to music. They were beautiful and I suggest to check them out.

Overall, it's a so-so drama. It won't be memorable like others but it won't leave a bad impression.

not bad, could've been a lot better

Okay so it wasn't THAT BAD. Honestly, I enjoyed watching it. BUT, objectively speaking, it could've been so much better.
Starting with the actors, I absolutely love Chap and Green. They're one of my favorite ships off-screen so I was really excited for this show and I think they're acting was done pretty good.
With the plot, the pacing was kinda off. Everything happened so fast and there were many things that didn't feel complete. Lots of scenes felt unnecessary, repeated, and sorta cringe. BUT BUT BUT! Given that each episode was only 20mins, I feel like most of the flaws are understandable. If the show was longer, then the storyline would prob be a lot better and more clear.
Soooo I wasn't really focused on the plot as much because of the lack of development. Tbh Chap & Green's chemistry really saved the show for me. Their pairing is reaaallllyyyy nice visually and you can tell they're comfortable with each other which is GREAT.
There's not much to say about the side characters cause honestly you don't really know much about them. And I blame that on how short the show was.
The soundtrack by Jeff Satur was AMAZING !!! Love his voice, that song is stuck in my head all the time lol
TO CONCLUDE: if you just want to watch something short that doesn't require much thinking & has really handsome leads with great chemistry, then this is the show for you lol ------but if you want a really nice storyline with great acting and character/plot development, then its best you find something else to watch :)))

A very hot mess. Literally.

The premise was so promising but I think it’s safe to say that The Tuxedo is a hot mess. Literally hot guys + a mess.

The backbone of the story is really a bratty son of a business tycoon looking to have a tuxedo made by a gifted tailor. But then there’s also an evil father figure, a family feud, a background story about a childhood trauma and phobia, some other side characters that aren’t super important… Plus an obligatory unlikeable girlfriend(?) who gets in the way.

There are 1001 plots going on even though the show only has 8 20-minute episodes and very little makes very much sense.

The show really could have just picked a few things to focus on instead of wasting precious time on other plots. The Tuxedo may have sh*tty storytelling and less-than-ideal acting, but hey, incredible sexual tension between 2 attractive men in suits? Yeah I’ll somehow sit through the storytelling (or lackthereof), thank you.

Be warned, though, the tailor and the sad richboi go from 0 to 100 real quick (maybe way too quickly). One moment they detest each other, the next, they’re flirting aggressively and eating each other’s faces. I guess this is what they mean when they say love and hate are two sides of the same coin?

The romance is fast and furious, so if that’s not your thing, you may want to give this a miss. Or not. On the bright side, if it turns out that you hate this series, at least it was only 160 minutes of your life.

The series description:
"Bossy and self-centered Nawee is an heir to a fortune. He suffers from serious social phobia due to his childhood trauma. But that was before he met the gentleman designer Aioun. As the two get to know each other, the mutual attraction becomes undeniable".
I have never read a more accurate description because that is basically all that happened.

Oh? That description doesn't tell you how, when or why they fell in love or why they like each other?
Well... Neither do any of the 8 episodes of the series.

Good actors & great chemistry but they forgot the plot. A bunch of stuff just happened in between two people meeting and apparently falling for each other.

It wasn't awful but it wasn't good either.

Sichol stole the show. He was the best character. I love him.

Lost Potential

It could have been sooooo much better if it had been longer, they had focused more on the history and rivalry between the two companies, and gone more into Nawee's social anxiety. The series felt rushed and unfinished.

A person doesn't get over their anxiety in a few measly days! Especially if it's a real phobia!

AND we had almost no info on the bad blood between the two clothing companies. It was just kind of... there, somewhere in the background. But if they had focused on it, elaborated, and put some of the tension into the couple's relationship, it would've made it feel more natural.

The romance started very suddenly. I mean, I get why - limited time in the series and all that. But it didn't make it feel less rushed.

I put such a high rating on the storyline because I saw it could be something good. The execution was just sloppy. Finishing the series made me feel like I had missed something phenomenal because people didn't put more effort into it. :(

Actors made me keep watching it

I like the actors (Chap/Green). They had great, believable & relatable chemistry. And the brother dynamics was funny and enjoyable (even if i thought certain fights were not necessary for the show). Overall the storyline was very disjointed & hindered my enjoyment of the whole show. They needed a focus for the issues and they let all of them just fizzle away. They also kept adding issues and the "resolutions" weren't flushed out as much as they needed to be. I want to see these actors in other things, but I don't recommend this show.

Honestly just underwhelming. :,)

The show had potential.

Honestly the premise of the overall story sounded great on paper, but the execution fell flat and was meh at best. The thing with Aioun’s father and Nawee’s father didn’t go anywhere.
Honestly they tried to do so much without actually doing anything. The acting overall was ok I suppose, mainly from the two leads, but side characters where…. Just there. Honestly this show just… had a lot of cringe moments, and the “struggles” or the “problem” the characters had to deal with were either ignored after being mentioned or resolved poorly without any actual storytelling. Nawee’s problem with going out into the world, was done so poorly that it just felt underwhelming. (It had potential to actually develop Nawee’s character but nah.)

Also the music…. It was placed so randomly and it sorta just made the vibe of what I was feeling….. just flat.

Ig the best parts of this BL were just the chemistry between the main leads, their kisses, and how attractive they both are. Other than that this BL was meh at best, I enjoyed it, but fell flat at the final episode.

Great Visuals, But A Very Run-Of-The-Mill Story

If you've read yaoi manga for quite some time and enjoy the enemies-to-lovers trope, then you've most definitely read a story *just* like this before.

Actually, does anyone know if it's actually based off of a manga or Thai novel? Because it feels like it.

STORY:

Anyway, the story is nothing new. It's filled with a lot of tropes and at times cringey cliches. The story is pretty predictable, and it's one of those Thai BLs that reads exactly like a yaoi manga because of the structure and main tropes.
The only new thing it offers is that it is a Thai live action production, which honestly adds some intrigue to it. My friend pointed out that it looks similar to a Korean production, and I do agree with that.

Aspects about the story I didn't like:
I have no idea how old the youngest brother is, but I assumed he was in high school. The way they introduced him made it seem like he may be the love interest for Sichol and I was not okay with that. There is no second couple, thank goodness. Speaking of Sichol, I both enjoyed and disliked his character. I felt like having an outrageous character in this kind of mellow story was a good idea; he adds some flavor to the mix. But then he started becoming annoying at times. And then eventually, I flat out forgot about him.

The thing I hated about the story the most, however, is the romantic "plot twist" they tried to add at the end. Maybe I wasn't paying as much attention as I thought when each episode dropped every week, but I actually didn't think they'd try to add last minute drama. If you know me, you know that I hate when a BL resolves a story a couple of episodes too early and then try to fill in the rest of the time with useless drama. And what made it even worse was how dragged out it was and how Nawee kept refusing to let Aioun talk. I understand that on one hand, it would make sense for someone like Nawee to react that way after everything he *just* went through. But instead it felt like they were trying to stretch things out to last until the end.

PRODUCTION/ACTING:

I would say watch the drama for the visuals, acting, and wardrobe. If you pay attention to stuff like cinematography and color grading, then I think you'd enjoy this show. There are a lot of scenes that just look very pretty, same with the sets. Speaking of, they pretty much only worked with two sets (and very briefly with the diner/cafe at the end), and I think they did a great job with that.

The acting is very good, even from the characters that don't really have much to offer. The chemistry between Nawee's and Aioun's actors is VERY good. I would love to see them in another BL some time soon.

I don't know anything really about suits, but I thought the wardrobes looks great right down to the color choices for the scenes. He doesn't wear a suit, but I loved Oab's looks; yes, including the awful mullet. There's something about the actor where he's about to pull it off very well.

And yes. The sex scene is one of the best sex scenes I've seen in a BL. If you want to skip everything and just go straight to that scene, I wouldn't blame you. Not only was the chemistry great, but it was *beauuuutifully* filmed. Like, WOW.

Also, I honestly didn't pay too much to the music, but the theme song is very nice, if anything.

REWATCH?

I would say no. I would only rewatch it for color theory/story/visuals, but that's it.
.....And probably rewatch that sex scene LOL

Wanted to like it, but just couldn't

Oh, what a trainwreck this show was. I think I’m especially disappointed as I thought the setting and main actors were not bad, in my opinion.
I really liked the idea that on the one hand side we have the tailor Aioon, who is very talented and just a really nice guy who runs a tailor shop with his two brothers. And on the other side we got Nawee, an arrogant, tormented rich guy who is scared to leave the house. They meet because of a suit (not really a tuxedo) which then sort of brings them together. I thought the acting was fine and the two leads had nice chemistry. But man did it all go downhill fast.

The plot is basically non-existent. When all the fuss was made about the perfect suit for the birthday of Nawees father, I thought it would be this big corporate event with loads of important people, where the son really wants to shine. But it then ends up being an awkward little family dinner that lasts about 5 minutes as no one eats anything and ends with the dad telling the son he doesn’t want to see him anymore. And why? Because he is a “bastard”? It’s the 21st century, give me a break. Sometimes it felt like they were hinting at some bigger family secret involving the past of the dads of our protagonists, but it never goes anywhere. When the horrible father leaves the dinner, Aioon tells him, he will regret being so awful to his son. It seems like a threat or a premonition or something, but of course it is in fact nothing and never mentioned again.

The terribly stereotypical side characters of the fumbling assistant, the annoying ex-girlfriend and the ridiculously evil stepbrother added nothing to the show and were a total waste of time. And don’t even get me started on the odd relationship of Aioons two younger brothers and their fight about a turtle. Again, this added nothing to the show and the time could have been spent so much better developing an actual plot.

I did enjoy the dynamic between the leads and how we started to see that the arrogance of Nawee mainly came from loneliness and Aioon managed to tear down his walls. This could have been developed into so much more, add some properly written dark family secret that is being uncovered and some likeable side characters and boom, this could have been good, but they just seemed to get it wrong every chance they got. It is absolutely beyond me how someone read that script and actually said, yes, great, that makes sense, let’s film it. Unbelievable.
I hope for the actors that we get to see them together again in some other show with a decent storyline where they get a chance to show what they can do as this is definitely not it and I unfortunately can’t recommend watching it to anyone.

It's good but the story..

Good day Everyone,
I enjoyed the series and completed it within two days (watched it after the airing) as the series is super short, What I loved about the series was the character chemistry between Chap and Green they were super comfortable to each other while acting and that's one of those things I love, If you come to the point of acting um it's GOOD as the story was an overall MESS, The story was rushed, some scenes had no sense eg. The scene in the last episode where Oab gave a new turtle to Art, it was a time consuming scene too. But the fact is that I enjoyed Psychological Trauma scene in the last episode where Nawee stand up on his own outside and came to reunite with his gentleman boyfriend. I was confused to know that when did they even fell in love with each other, like I mean they had moments of two accidental kisses, he made a tuxedo for him and said he would always be there for him. Like WTF how?!

The character chemistry as I told was great, if there wouldn't be any chemistry between Chap and Green then I would definitely drop this series in the first half itself. The characters were less so it was easy to remember the name of all of them, I laughed my ass off in the Sichol scenes. The part of Aioon's girlfriend was useless, I mean they wanted to extend the series but it wasn't worth to the audience.. The father and the stepmother mom and brother part was toxic, I started to feel embaras when Nawee started to bleed in the nose and the father yelling his name, How the f*ck did he bleed!

Sichol scenes are worth to watch and are hilarious at the same point of time. Acting of the cast members is excellent but I think they deserve a better story with a good storyline, Music is also the reason why people should watch the series, The OST is beautiful. (can anyone share the name of the singer?) Again the romance was romantic as it should be but the thing is how did they fu*kin' fell in love ?, The story is worth of your time but I guess if I would be watching The Tuxedo during the airing, I did definately drop or keep it on hold. I give 6.5 for re-watch value, basically I don't watch any series again so I don't rewatch anything as there is no purpose when you know the whole plot and story.

Thank you for your time.
Enjoy.
