Just wow...

This serie is lovable, pure, suiting, honest, believable, touching... I loved it and i really recomend other people to watch it.

The cast contains of very good actors who play their role very believable and pure. I felt their emotions myself and thats what i am looking for in a movie, this makes the difference between a excellent movie or just a good one.

This is also a short series so i never felt bored, every episode was worth watching.

This serie is definitely underrated, because i just found out about it and it tops so many other series that are more popular...

The only thing i have my toughts about is the fact that Woons life with his parents and his own problems are never outspoken. There are 2 lead actors but somethimes i felt there was only one and Da-Woon was a bit unimportant.
Also the sounds and music didnt alsways fit well.

there is so much attraction in subtlety

I just want to express how happy I was after finishing this series. For such a short drama it has such a beautiful storyline which can make mainland dramas fail. I was fully invested in the characters, main and side both. My favorite side character being the sister. I like how they gave depth even to the side characters. The story was a straight healing story where two people meet and figure out their emotions together. Both the leads had emotional depth to them. One could argue Da Un seemed more anchored and closed compared to Siwon in the earlier episodes but we get to learn about him slowly and steadily later on. I just loved how confident Siwon was in misunderstanding Da Un, which he took sportingly and used to flirt back haha. The kisses was satisfying for this lady writer and romance was ahh so heart wearming.

Heard a Season 2 in progress, hope they don't mess that up. I just love the characters so much that I cant bear it to be spoiled.
I'll keep the review short. If you still haven't, go and watch this beautiful BL drama now!

Simple yet interesting love story

Their story starts with jealousy from one person and ends up being cathartic for both of them. Cha siwon's struggle and his childhood being the trigger for the initial interactions between the leads.

The ost and cha siwon's bickering adds flavor to the slow burn emotional journey the characters go thru. The cinematography and shots are soo good . It's a kdrama so it's expected but some choices made for the visuals esp ep 9 and 10 reflect the characters emotions in the backdrop. (The shots feel like a jdrama and early k romcom movies)

It maybe confusing sometimes but it's the director's way of storytelling so I can't really put that as a negative remark.

How did they do this?

The story is based on a manhwa but in the drama they followed an almost different storyline but not different at the same time. In the manhwa there were no filming scene, no telling Siwon's life through a movie, no Dawoon telling his parents to select the movie and Dawoon's mother was a sweetheart. In the manhwa Siwon was bit more of an a$$hole and Dawoon was a puppy running after him. In the drama Yoonjung never confessed to Siwon.
The rumour on the internet and Siwon's childhood photo getting leaked was more intense in the manhwa. They handled the situation more savagely. In short the manhwa was more of a them being savage and the drama covers the same thing but a sweet way. That is why they get all the positive feedback from me. The drama and the manhwa both are 10 on 10 in their own way. The awkwardness you can see in Siwon sometimes is because he is awkward in general. They talk about his in the manhwa. It wasn't them being awkward while acting. When Dawoon dreamed about Siwon after their fight, you can clearly see Siwon being different, as in clingier. The actors did a great job here as well. 10 on 10 again. Also they didn't introduce two important characters which I assume leaves a door for second season. Or should I say one? The guy singing at the beach is one of them. Siwon and Dawoon's friend Bawoo (the guy with glasses who saved Yoonjung form the stalker) was an out gay in the manhwa and the singer is his love interest. The other one is Dawoon's cousin. They had a lot of history. I'm highly anticipating a second season. They need to cover Dawoon's struggle too. Overall hats off to the whole team.

A beautiful and healing story

There's just something so beautiful about this series. I can't tell if it's the storyline on its own or the whole package along with OST which fits every single scene & the nostalgia contained in the way the scenes were directed and presented like.. it's just beautiful and I had so much inner peace while watching it.

There's also something healing about Blueming - simple storyline yet still resonates with your soul, eye-catching and cosy atmosphere presented by great (in my opinion) camera work, so little things spoken yet so many words showed through the actors' emotions and acting overall.
It's one of those series that will leave you at peace and I absolutely love this feeling of "I'm just glad they found each other". No unnecessary drama and no random situations just to keep the plot running. Simply: real life examples and real life people who get to know both each other and most importantly themselves. Every character here learnt many things about themselves through the 11 episodes and you don't need anyone to say it straight, you can just see it. See their actions, the little yet so big changes, the way they look at their friends and family and how it goes from misunderstanding to understanding (not fully, but enough to find the bond they lost through the years of growing up).

It all sounds so complicated but it's so simply presented. Love it so much.

Get anchored and captivated by this "fresh" and "passionate" BL series.

I'm hooked and can't get over to this "one of a kind, rare and flowing" A masterpiece! The cinematography is so good, I can't even think straight for what about to happen during my time watching the entire series! I did binge watch like 3 times in one straight night! The dialogue still glued in my mind and the actors were so good in portraying. This is deservingly worth of your time. Even though I keep on watching my fave part like EP __ , I did cry over and over again. This is not a your typical cliche BL series.

A Relaxing, Heartfelt Drama

Thiz drama was so relaxing to watch, it was calm and healing. It honestly would make a nice movie. The filmography was beautiful, the style is very “indie” which fits right in with the theme of the story. The music was perfect too. I laughed, I cried, it moved me. The acting was fantastic too - the leads were NOT awkward at all which is unfortunately common with BL dramas. Their portrayal of the characters felt very genuine, the way they looked at each other was so romantic TT TT. Also, I wasn’t cringing during the skinship and kissing scenes - I was able to watch it like I would any other drama…so refreshing. I recommend watching it! I streamed it on iQIYI. (Sorry I’m not very good with describing things, hopefully you guys understand what I’m trying to convey TT.TT)

Short, Simple & Sweet

I normally love hard-pacing series, even when this wasn't one, I really liked it.
It's short, sweet, cute and in a way calming, like most soft-pacing Asian BLs are.

Things that I liked
* Actor's cuteness
* Calming nature of the series
* Background Music
* Story covered up nicely in the mini-series
* Realistic nature of the series in some places

Scope of Improvement
* Showing side characters' story

The best part about the series was that they released all the episodes in a single go.

It was so cute

This is definitely the most beautiful bl I've ever seen, I thought it was good because it was very calm. In itself, the two had a very nice story, how the two dealt with each other was very touching. i liked cha si won's background story very much. Also i found da un's voice very deep and it suited his character and charisma very well. The scenes between the two were incredibly cute, I was blown away all the time.

I think the story was a bit confused on the beginning but at the and I understood all and it becomes clear in my mind. The acting was pretty good and the music was perfect and fits too the scenes.

Love can bloom even amidst the most turbulent of times

Blueming is definitely one of the better South Korean BLs I’ve seen.

The beauty of Blueming is in how it offers astute observations on the relationship between identity and insecurity. It is an honest glimpse into how someone hopes to be seen, liked and validated by revealing the inner workings of an overthinker’s mind – every interaction and conversation stripped down, replayed and analysed.

Si-Won, as someone who cares way too much about what other people think, is a highly relatable character.

Then there’s Da-Woon, the “perfect” kid who is far more self-assured in comparison. With Da-Woon, Si-Won learns that he does not need to be somebody else. He is loved for who he is. Warts and all.

A tender and heartwarming look into how intimacy is built, Blueming shows how love can bloom even amidst the most turbulent of times. It explores the delicate interplay of friendship, romance, family and personal achievement, without trying to cram too much into 10 episodes.

Deeper than it looks

I binge watched this beautiful drama in one day. It absorbed me very easily. The directing was amazing (what to expect from the same person that was behind "Where your eyes linger" and "To my star"? Nothing but great results. If you haven't watched these two titles, well, do it!)
The mood was always accompanied by great music, which helped me immerse emotionally. This last thing was what probably stunned me most. Music and framing are just so good, I can't stress this enough with words. Coming myself from cinema studies I can't help but notice such technical details and I think everyone can feel it anyway. The use of lights and the way it's shot is just very good too and somehow adds a personal point of view in each scene. Like the use of close-ups in the most intimate scenes or the most touching ones.
Anyway, I was just very into the story and the mood in general, like I was totally pulled into their world. And that's great because, honestly, I don't see many dramas/series that are capable of doing this. This is just my personal opinion, of course, but I think that they were able to show us how to give a short series the right feeling and how it's possible to follow the right pacing of a story. It was insane to me how they managed to not rush it at all, even though each episode was quite short (but full of events and emotions). The managing of time and narration was very good.
Another great thing about Blueming is the depth of the characters. From my point of view even the most secondary character, even the ones we see interact with the main leads like only twice, have some sort of aura. You just can tell they are something more, that they're not "empty" and part of the environment, but just by a few interactions and details (even aesthetical) you can clearly feel they're people. They feel real. I also noticed throughout the viewing that, especially the main characters (so the mother and sister too) give the feeling of having a rich personality, of not showing us their whole selves. Especially Da Un: he doesn't speak much, but everything he says has depth and that gives us the feeling that there would be so much more to know about him.
The story was great, finally a serious story that can concentrare both on young love and family issues or traumas, bullying and more. The part where Si Won cries with the mother was just wonderful.
So, finally, my point is that this drama deserves attention. It's very good, maybe even something a bit new that can give us a point of view that, in my opinion, can stand out in the whole drama panorama. I think we all can easily empathize with Si Won and each worry that young people might face.

Surprisingly perfect

I wasn’t expecting much from this drama when I read the synopsis, thinking it would just be a typical college enemies to lovers jealousy trope with no real feelings or plot. I WAS WRONG! The storyline was so much better than I could have imagined. Showcasing real fears and insecurities we all face, especially whilst growing up. The main couple coming together felt raw and authentic, no forced drama or unrealistic sudden feelings. They had their issues but worked to resolve the problems within themselves before thrusting their issues onto each other. The character and relationship development was perfect. I usually would say I wish the drama was longer and whilst I’d love to see more of this couple and their romance I honestly feel like the drama ended at the perfect moment. Hands down one of the best dramas I’ve seen in a long time and all done within 3 hours of content.
