farcical comedic brilliance

I've seen some reviewers attempt to rate this as a serious dramatic program. They totally miss the point and take themselves way too seriously as reviewers.

This is a farcical lighthearted comedic fantasy and adventure story. The plot does not need to be realistic or make sense because in fantasy we suspend our disbelief to live the story. The point is poking fun at the improbable situations and tropic stereotypes in the genre. That, and having a good laugh.

The mistake made, imho, was projecting this as a detective story in pre-release and not a comedy adventure. It isn't until we get into the story that the real nonsense begins, and the viewers realize that we have been haphazardly thrown into another world just like the hero.

This program is by no means perfect. Holes can be poked left and right if one wants to rate the expressions, accents or plot. However this would be like pointing out the absurdity of a Monty Python classic.

Guardians of the Dafeng is going to be an all time favorite that I will re-watch over and over.

After a long time, a CDrama excited me

I haven't been curious about a series since Are You the One aired. The male-centric drama is not my taste, that's why I I started watching hesitantly But this drama has succeeded in attracting my attention.
The story progresses slowly and carefully. So far, I don't think there has been a boring episode. The comedy of the series is enough. The VFX and ost of the drama has high quality.

Dylan Wang has tried his best and this is the secret of the success of the drama. To the extent that I think the drama does not need romance and it seems a bit unnecessary. In my opinion, either it shouldn't have a romance or it could have been written better.
But I enjoyed watching Tian Xi Wei, so this issue can be ignored. I hope the second half of the drama does not drop.

Great Story With Great Casting

Its a very fresh story Where Ml didn't play dumb when he entered in games .. like what i do now ... He is already So smart And Talented... His Family is so funny and chaotic 😄..and ML brother is also intelligent ..i like the concept that he didn't jealous to ML ...
So, good to watch Dylan In Funny And Anger At the same time.. Perfect Balance of Acting ...
If I talk other's yes, they are also good ...
His senior , guardians and Fl ..I just hope she's also storng..

Funny and entertaining

I'm so glad to see Dylan in this funny role. It does reflect his real-life character. I watched the first 5 episodes, and I couldn't count how many times I laughed. I am looking forward to how it will progress. I'm hoping to watch a satisfying ending. Our FL has not yet been introduced. I find it refreshing, not a typical romance series.

It's okay.

First thing to note here is Wang Hedi's voice does not sound great. It deters from his character being in a set of historical time. His acting was okay but nothing special that attributes to his character that he is playing, as he is simply just playing himself. His eyes, though beautiful, it doesn't say much to his expression, still stiff.

The story is mid. Nothing new. Relies heavily on comedic dialogues and scenes. However, the fighting choreography is epic.

Tian Xi Wie's character is not my favourite, I would've preferred had she had been the grand princess instead, since that role seems to be more interesting.

Oddly it felt like the story wanted to take the direction of Joy of Life at some capacity.

This is Dylan Wang's Show Throughout!

I started watching this show because of Dylan Wang, but now I’m literally in love with the storytelling!

This show might seem like a weird crossover between “The Land of Guardians” & “The Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty”. You will get my drift, if you have watched both shows. Don’t skip on this one, just because it seems like another transmigration romance. The first thing you notice about this show is the comic flair, I wasn’t expecting that. I thought it would be typical crime thriller where the protagonist goes around solving crime cases. Of course, Yang Ling alias Xu Qian does that, but the show also focuses on his close relationships with his family in the fantasy game that he is transported to. I never thought that I would enjoy watching Dylan Wang’s dramatic overtures, since he has always portrayed serious roles. This show does allow him the space to try to experiment with something new; and he seems to enjoy doing comedy, even though he seems too overzealous at times!

Overhyped but Watchable for some Dumb Comedy

Not to piss off Dylan Wang Fans but if you want to use your own voice in a costume drama, work on your accent + line delivery. Success of Love Between Fairy and Devil (which I did enjoy) was partially contributed by the right choice of voice dubbing (Sound, Accent, Line Delivery). Of course, I would love it if more actors can use their own voices but that's under the condition if they can do it properly. It's the same concept where European/Australian actors that play American characters with the correct accent. I am sure it's hard work but it's part of acting.

From acting, many of his expressions are the same--that wrinkle between the eyebrow Look. Not comparable to the strong supporting cast. So many good actors can deliver those micro expressions.

Story wise ... kind of makes no sense how fast he solves the 1st case in 3 min. Lots of talking w/o actually going through the process of solving the murder. If you enjoy well written murder solving dramas like Imperial Coroner or Ancient Detective, then this is not it.

What's "Watchable"
Supporting Cast. There are so many familiar faces that can do these dumb humor roles very well. Although this kind of humor may not hit for everyone. 80% didn't hit for me. I much enjoyed "Go East" with Tan Jian Ci or The Happy Seven in Chang'an. Both are silly comedies that hit more for me.

I'll emphasize that these are just my personal opinion. I am not a super fan of any idol actors, but I am a fan of character portrayal and good story telling disregarding popularity.

LOVE IT

I love all of Dylan's dramas, he always delivers! The drama is very captivating. I've laughed so much, but I've also cried ahaha. The drama is very captivating, the episodes don't drag on, and it's very interesting...I recommend it. I love the aesthetics of cities too, I would love to visit a place like that one day.

Nice but not the best

It’s a refreshing comedy drama. Dylan perfectly portrayed Xu Qi An, a modern guy with all the knowledge. However I started to drop the drama after several episodes princess lin an. Why is the heroine character so fvcking dumb??? I can’t tolerate such trying-to-be-cute-but-dumb character. So it’s a big no for me. I honestly skipped everytime she appears 😂
