I love this kdrama
It was interesting, not what i expected i still don’t know if i love it but i like it, it needs more episodes, which will come out in season 3 summer 2024, i’d wait till season 3 drops if i knew earlier, but yeah i liked it, the actors were hot, they killed off almost every character from season 1 unfortunately but it was still worth watching, it lacked details and it’s still a bit confusing. But i'm really excited for season 3 and i hope it's 16 episodes or at least 12 instead of making season 4. Also i would love to see more of song kang. Overall 8.5/10.Was this review helpful to you?
confusing and too many characters - still a compelling watch
I was eagerly awaiting Sweet Home Season 2 and binge watched it over a weekend. We have all of our characters back from Season 1 and also a number of new characters. Humans are struggling to survive and stay human and the big question if there really is a cure/vaccine that was developed in the lab runs all the way through this Season.ITs very dark and apocalyptic with hardly any moments when the dark and depressing tone is lightened. There is a lot going on, so much that I got quite confused and some events are not explained at all. At least they are not explained in this Season... Personally I found there were just too many new characters with no obvious reason to be in the story line. It felt a bit like Game of Thrones Book 4.... if you read the books you probably know what I mean.
But still it was a totally compelling watch, I sat through it and have now more questions then I had after Season 1. Thankfully we will get Season 3 next year!

melhorou

I skipped a lot while watching it because Cha Hyunsu was rarely shown in the episodes. As the main character, I think he should have appeared more.Still, it was fun watching as it was detailed, and I liked how it showed character development.
The story was good. It managed to leave an impression on the audience. I would say it was not the best, but it is still one of the best zombie dramas I have watched.
By the end, it had. I am sure the third season will come. I will be waiting for the third season.

Improvement
I didn't really like the most of the first season but this one is pretty solid as u can see the character's development and the story as well as the world of the story has been expanded from just one building to a city to give space to more characters to help the story progress. And main notes for me is the acting as finely u can see the actress putting more effort on their characters the thing that was missing on the first one

A Fall From Grace
I can't put into words how shocked I was after watching the first season and how unexpectedly good it was, but at the same time, I was too afraid that it was only going downhill from then due to how high a bar it set.I guess my nightmares turned out real. As much as it pains me, this season was a claustrophobic mess of intertwined plotlines that tried too hard to complicate the picture and raise the stakes that at more times than not ended up killing all the setup from the last season in favor of some newly introduced characters that are hardly relatable, likable, or redeemable in any way, shape, or form.
In short, this was such a snoozer with only the first part of the seventh episode that had any substance or enjoyment to it.
I do hope the third season redeems the image of this series, or else, this would be such a shame.

Prolly one of the best korean series of 2023
I didn’t like Home Sweet Home season 1. It was too slow (too unnecesary scenes to the development of the story and unnecessary to sustain mystery), cgi and special effects were not on point considering the series budget, it was hard to follow the direction of the series, performances especially from Song Kang were not great and it was hard to develop any attachments to any of the characters and some characters’ development are still confusing.BUT everyone could agree in a way that there was potential somewhere. And this is why I watched season 2.
Season 2 fixed almost all the issues we found in season 1. There was such an improvement on special effects, it played well with out emotions and personal beliefs and principles. There were a lot of twists in the series, directing intentions were cleared, Lee Jin Wook is teriffic in his role (maybe his best performance), Go Min si as well and I think it is Song Kang’s best performance.
What I like the most is how they painted the vilain in the series. I won’t give any spoilers but it is not just one vilain, the border between good and evil is very thin too, very confusing (in a good way) and very much familiar with our everyday lives. And their development is always very unexpected.
I have to say you cannot properly understand season 2 without watching season 1. And this is where the series didn’t do great. Cause there are some characters I wish I knew more about how they changed from season 1 to season 2. Some details are needed to fully understand their motivations or change of heart or whatever. And I am
eager to see season 3 because there are also new characters that I do wonder if they are truly needed here while we already have such a large cast and a lot of important characters.
Besides this, great show.

Not What I expected
Well I waited for the second season for a year, since i watched the first one year ago, I got pretty dissapointed on it. if the First season was indeed about Survival and Staying together in apartment, it gave me vibes of game this war of mine. first season was more melancholic yet interested as it was in closed space, but the second season became more like Open world and it became to hard to keep with other characters. but overall if you like survival genre, mutant, thriller and horror, its still worth a shot to give it a chance. Was this review helpful to you?
Good Enough
Korean Drama '' Sweet Home Season Two '' takes things from where the first season left things off, with the residents leaving their apartments and venturing out, trying to find a new safe place, while they also fight the army forces that have their own agenda. It was nice, first of all, to learn more about the creatures and the mutations, even though the drama doesn't go too deep into it, probably leaving things to be explored further in the seasons that are yet to come.
However, and even though there were some characters that were interesting to follow, the drama was too short and, thus, it had to present things rushly and not elaborate too much on each of them, which was a minus, as the story stopped following the already known characters and went on introducing new ones and new situations. Thus, it left a lot of fans of the first season unsatisfied, as their favorite ones didn't have much screen time, and it was hard to keep up after a while with all the new characters and too little information about them.
The performances, on the other hand, were pretty enjoyable and the CGI decent enough.
So, overall, five out of ten.

Bittersweet Home
Buckle up because this is going to be a long review. To preface, I rated the first season 10/10. As someone who can't stand the zombie genre, Sweet Home was an endearing take to an outbreak scenario. Everything worked for me. This season, not so much.
Let's start with the positives.
Those first three episodes were mind-blowing. The emotions the cast and crew wrought from me, I was on the edge of my seat unsure of what was going to happen. What I loved was the continuation of the survival story, where we're with our characters, despondent, on the edge of giving up, and hopeless. They're being attacked by monsters and soldiers, and there is no mercy. The glimpse of the bride and her husband broke my heart, it was short, sweet, but such a powerful scene, and it hones into the idea of monstrosity not being simply a physical as we watch the husband shot and the wife becomes a monster in her grief. These 3 episodes had twists and surprises, and such amazing interaction between the characters, and we saw the writers really take on audience feedback from the first season and input it. We watched bad guys vs good guys, good guys vs good guys and bad guys vs bad guys. The deaths of Ji-Su and Soo Young were raw, and so beautifully real. They weren't heroic deaths, they were bleak and cruel and raw. It reminded me of when Game of Thrones had deaths that just shook you to the core, because they were so unexpected (before it became a redundant theme and then not a theme at all). Even the off screen death of Hye In, which people might have felt robbed but I liked it because in war, we forget the facelessness of those who die, and so we who've watched her since episode one, to see her disappear without explanation, was poignant. Like, this is what happens. She becomes a body in a pile and if there's no one to grieve her, she'll be forgotten.
I also really enjoyed thinking about how you saw survivors become soldiers, which is an interesting aspect to bring into an apocalyptic korean show, because it showcases that most of them can take on the role because they've taken part in military service, so I enjoyed that aspect. Also as the audience, you do wonder in that situation whether you'd be better off with soldiers or alone.
Seeing some of the OG monsters, love me the half head dude, so creepy.
Eun-yoo being a badass, was great, wish I'd seen more. Hyun-soo being the gentle monster, you just want to give him a hug.
The ending of the show also with Hyun-su and the potential for a dual personality, I loved. That was such an interesting concept to bring and I'm sad we only got a glimpse because I like the idea of, we're no longer fighting against ourselves but rather against the enemy. And seeing Eun Hyuk again, that was *chefs kiss* and I applaud them for keeping it under wraps for so long, I had no idea he'd come back. I was honestly expecting to see him presented as a full blown monster, so to see the humanness intrigues me, because is he still the same on the inside?
Okay, now to the negatives, which lost this show 2 stars (but gained half back with that ending). Ready for a rant because I am.
Episodes 4-8 felt like they were recreating the first season on a grander scale, but without anyone I cared about. Seriously, I can't tell you the name of any of the new characters because I didn't care. They had way too many which left me sitting their bored, waiting for someone familiar to come on. We had uninspired military guy 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. Wait, I didn't mind Mr. Kim, but they didn't quite get the morally grey right with him. We had the survivors who I didn't care if they'd all been blown up. Count it, we had 3 women in this show who were obsessive over the guy of their choice. A priest, who, I dunno, what was his purpose? He was edgy? Instead of introducing all these people, they should've kept to a smaller group and figured out something different, even if it was fighting another small group. Because this just felt like 4 episodes of Sweet Home Big Brother.
Ah-Yi. Why do they always have to ruin a show or movie by having these bratty teenagers who are half sociopath half pixie dream girl? I'm so special, I hate everything, let's make monsters. You know what I would've preferred? Seeing Yi-kyung as a mother, adapting, struggling as she's watching her baby grow too fast, worrying about someone hurting her. I craved a mother daughter relationship. Instead Ah-Yi turned her mother into a monster and then left. Let me guess, next she's going to team up with Sang Wook because monsters are awesome?
I found the dynamic between Hyun-su, Eun-yoo and Chan Young super interesting and thought there was something we could've had more time on. This is what the second half of this season felt like. Could've ended up in the same way but boy they should've gone a different route on some of this stuff.
At this point, I don't even know who we're going to have left to resist monsters because the group gets smaller and smaller, and I don't care if most of them become monsters of die. Like what's the end goal at this point? Because first season it was clear. Survive. This one? No idea, felt like it flopped all over the place.
The girl and man with the caravan. What was their purpose? No idea. Did they have potential? Sure, but so sick of having female characters being half insane. Like take them out of the story, and you could've literally kept going with barely anything changing.
This season asked more questions than it answered. Did we ever actually find out what was in the suitcase? I can't remember at this point, I started skipping scenes towards the end, because while the mad scientist was interesting, it felt like the whole season was him gearing up to do something. This whole season was a set up for season 3, so I am hoping they end this show at season 3 and make it truly epic because it fell flat this season.
Will I watch season 3? You bet, they've set up some interesting things, I just felt disappointed they didn't choose a more enticing way to set it up. Because the first season was an interesting dive into the human psyche, the second season had me like, there are too many humans, I don't care about any of their backstory.
Come on season 3, fighting!

Prep for the finale
If I were to compare, I enjoyed season 1 a lot more story wise, season 2 seemed more like a filler and preparation for the season finale. The CGI did get a lot better in some scenes, with season 1 already having amazing cgi as is.Majority of the original cast was killed off (to no surprise) but the main gang lives on which I enjoyed. Season 2 is mostly introduction of characters that I assume will play a role in season 3, tho personality and story wise, they weren’t super interesting to me.
The mixture of military, emotional battles, and theorizing was nice.
There is definitely a lot of loose ends in which I hope season 3 answers.

The first season was better...
But! This season wasn't bad at all!(I'm bad with names so you gonna here a lot of explanation la of characters, I'm sorry)
Hyunsu is still so unreasonably hot, even though he isn't really present in this season. I mean he's there but the story rarely involves him.
Most of the original main characters died or turned. Eunhyuck didn't show up which I'm really sad about. But there was a hot priest but he wasn't really priest-y. Firefighter girly turned too but she had a monster daughter in the meantime. Hyunsu raised her though.
Eunhyucks sister (I can't remember her name for my life) is about the most of a main character we get.
There are also new storylines like the military dudes in the new camp (where the few still living og's are) and one particular military dude park so and so (can't remember his name for my life either). He's *so* fucking handsome you don't even know. Oh and somewhere in there is a half lunatic doctor who researches the monsters and the monsterasation.
The acting is good as usual, but the storyline is a bit all over the place. I never read the Webtoon sonI don't know if the plot is accurate but I had to get used to the new stuff. Could very well be a me problem though.
All in all I think you should give it a shot. If you loved the first season you'll enjoy this one too I think :3
