Where's the story?
I was expecting a lot for this movie but., I wasjust disappointed. If you really focus you'll find that there is no storyline. It's just about a female killer who is the top of her company who manages contracts killing, then one day she is the one to be killed. I was imagining that trying to kill booksoon would've been more thrilling and would have given scenes where they are tracking her, making groups to chase her,...etc.. but no, in one scene "the trying to kill book soon" is gone.
I think this movie is overrated
Sorry for those who liked it. It's just my opinion

Korea doesn't have too many female action fighters who's not stereotyped so when I saw the preview of this I decided to watch it.I was thinking of a female version of John Wick and I read another review who thought the same, lol.
Aside from the slow action scenes this movie didn't have too much to go on. Yes we learn there's a company called MK but you don't know what's it about. You have men sitting at a table but you don't know who they are. There's no backstory about what this company is about. There were backstories of Bok Soon but what was the point of some of those back stories?
Then there's stuff that could've been left out such as the semi sex, lesbo, and small incest scenes. Didn't need to see any of that.
My main gripe has to do with the last part of the movie. It went down like a wimp.
This is why I don't care for Korean movies. It seems like they stuff a whole lot of fluff in a two hour movie but just completely rush the ending leaving questions to be answered. Definitely not the kind of movie I like to watch.

the story is disappointing
to be honest the movie is great for doing edits and for draw / reference it was amazing only in the casting and the shooting they put time in effort and that's it .... Okay, the relationship between the boss and the sister is wired enough specifically to the Sean when she feels sexual towards him and kisses him directly like excuse me .... and the relationship between the main character and the guy who's have a sike father it starts cute but then get killed that fast okay it may be a good plot but not necessarily many points it wasn't to be add and they could develop the story even better but after all this is my reviewWas this review helpful to you?

Very over-rated. The movie seems to have one theme that it repeats over and over again: Assassins are people with ordinary issues. Yawn. It is not as original and definitely not as clever as the writer, director, and actors seemed to think it is. Much of the humor and all of the potential shock value from the multiple violent scenes fall flat because there is no compelling story and little character development. I never thought that a movie about a bunch of assassins could be this boring! Was this review helpful to you?
I did enjoy it tho, and I didn't really think much about anything while I watched this, so I can ignore how the action sequence was fun but stiff and unconvincing at times and just enjoy the star power this film has. It's exciting to see Haeng-seon imo now has a real daughter, then the charismatic Sol Kyung-Gyu, Lee Jae-Wook ahjussi, and other popular actors that I forget where I saw them before.

Did Not Like the Ending
This was a fairly good action/drama film. It was a solid 8 for me until the ending. I just don't like the way the movie ended. Drops this down to a 6 rating. The last fight scene was sub par at best and I do understand why they did that but NOPE! I hated it. I needed a better fight scene between the 2 leads. The movie is 2 hours and 20 minutes and there are things they should have cut and things that could have been added. Specifically what could have been added was a conversation between Bok Soon and the other CEOs in the assassin business. Especially, after they were starting to question the leader of MK.The highlight of the film is the cast. Pretty stacked too with some of my favorites in small parts. Looking at you Kim Sung Oh. FL Jeon Do Yeon is oustanding. This is the first thing I've seen her it. She was great as Bok Soon. Lee Yeon was really good here too as the new recruit.
Totally worth the watch at least once though.
7/16/23.

Kill Time
What a captivating start!Jeon Do Yeon surprised me with her fighting skills and her dual identity, a top-notch killer and a single mom. It's quite a contrast from her role in "Crash Course in Romance," where she played a kind aunt. Not that she's unkind here; I found her character to be very human, despite all the victims she's dealt with.
The plot was decent; I wasn't bored, but I didn't feel fully immersed either.
It felt like we were watching two separate stories—the one about the MK organization and Boksoon dealing with her teenage daughter.
However, the ending felt a bit lacking?. There were many loose ends about MK that were left unresolved, and I doubt there will be a season 2, not that it's really necessary.
I enjoyed the fighting scenes, even if I've seen better.??
Overall, I liked the whole cast, and there were many actors that I missed seeing. The production was solid, making it a fine movie to kill time with.

what i really loved here was the personal relationships between the character's. even though this tagged action, everyone (who's criticizing this) seemed to forget this also a drama. i loved those aspects of this movie. the mother daughter dynamic was spot on, great acting by all, but Jeon Do Yeon is really talented, have seen her in quite a few movies, so versatile. also loved the new young cast, the intern & the daughter - their story was also very relatable n engaging (in the intern case even less of a story and yet very endearing character IMHO).
i aint into action movies, so don't care for the fight choreography, but even i noticed that it wasn't that mind-blowing (not that there weren't entertaining fight scenes) but on a whole, it was nothing out of the ordinary. and here i think the trailer did a disservice to the movie, selling it as the actions movies i mentioned above.
also there's NO incest to speak off, yeah Min Hee crazy n very possessive of her brother (& lacking a back story, got no way to back my thoughts) but from my POV, Min Kyu didn't treat his sister as anything by a needy, spoilt child - he suffered n indulged her, didn't lust after her! the one he truly loved was Gil Bok Soon. from the 1st moment they met, he was hooked, that's why he did everything he did - for her, until the end in-spite of her going against his instruction's (what she did to his sister) he still didn't want to kill her (basically letting her win).
it wasn't perfect & i can be nitpicky, find potholes but on a whole this was a fun watch. i would rewatch this just for the fun off it anytime...

No thoughts, just vibes
The moment I saw my girl Esom on the cast list, I knew I was in for some freaky shit I didn't know I wanted or needed, but suddenly its 2 AM and I'm clutching my pillow close to my face, giggling like a farting babyLook, whoever is taking this movie so (sooooo) seriously needs to chill out. Writing wise, it's half-baked at best. Plot lines unresolved, random incest that has zero explanation, purpose or need, murky motivations and a narrative style that I personally enjoyed, but ultimately understand did nothing for the plot. And yet, I thoroughly, massively, obsessively enjoyed it. You know why?
It has got some KILLER vibes, you guys. Like, hahaha, I guess that's a pun, but no seriously. The dialogue delivery is A1, the direction and cinematography was incredible, and my KRYPTONITE trope: yearning. Pining. Longing. All that good stuff, all rolled into one dynamic that had me salivating.
Kill/Gil Bok Soon as a character was perfect too, and I guess her daughter was okay, too. I like the way the mother-daughter tension was handled, and while I got frustrated at the way Bok Soon sometimes handled her child, I also understood that it comes from a place of trauma, where you want to understand and support your child but you have no clue how. I really enjoyed how Bok Soon battled personal demons not when spilling blood, but at the thought of exposing her daughter to the brutality that plagues her daily life. I found that a really striking reflection of how generational trauma manifests in a parent-child relationship, where you have so much to hide from your child because you want to protect them but ultimately make decisions that end up pushing them away. I'm glad that the movie spent time on that because I could not give less of a crap about her "event planning"- I knew what I signed up for.
Of course, be warned that the movie will unecessarily raise questions that they do not even, for a fly's blink of a nanosecond, begin to address. The first two times you will be confused but will reassure yourself that over 60% of the movie is left. Over time, when you throw hands at the tenth question the movie will tease you into wondering (that you never even thought in the first place! But now it's in your head and it's a plot hole!) you will realise the movie is over and you're done :/
Gratifying, it is not.
Overall: Watch it for the vibes, which is what I did, and you will love this movie to bits!

Best movie , Too bad it’s not a drama, it can compete with American movies
I have watched this movie and all I can say is that it’s perfection from actors to everyone included to produce this masterpiece, I hate one thing about this it’s just that it was too short this good story deserves big platform, like tv show/drama because there are some great story that we didn’t get to see we would have liked but it’s played well to not notice great job to the producers and screen writers , am hoping there would be a prequel to this it can also be a great movie and also a sequel . in short apart from this movie being to small for this great story it’s an amazing work it can compete with Hollywood movies .Was this review helpful to you?
Not a great movie, but I'm easy to win over with a badass female lead and a damn good fight scene.
If you liked My Name, you'll probably like Kill Bok Soon. It has a lot of the same focus on a hard-boiled female protagonist with lots of good fight scenes. Kill Bok Soon is *slightly* more realistic (her boyfriend isn't some 10/10 stud, and she never fights dozens and dozens of trained killers at once). I also think the fight scenes are a little more intentionally crafted and fun to watch.Ultimately, Kill Bok Soon presents a unique, action-packed exploration of a dual life—a seemingly everyday single mother, Gil Bok Soon, who concurrently leads an extraordinary existence as a ruthlessly efficient contract killer.
The protagonist's relationship with her handler, Cha Min Kyu, unfolds into a dangerous dance of mutual respect and underlying tension, which becomes the driver of conflict in the narrative. The emotional core, meanwhile, revolves around her relationship with her daughter. However, despite an engaging premise, the narrative falls short on providing the necessary depth to the characters' interpersonal relationships, possibly owing to the confined duration of the film format as opposed to longer-running dramas.
The film's highlight, for me, lies in its gripping fight sequences. The choreography is immaculate, and maintains a balance between gritty noir aesthetics and compelling action.
Jeon Do-yeon brings an intensity to Bok Soon's character while shifting comfortably between playing a loving mother but also navigating the film's darker corners. It's a performance that arguably surpasses her previous roles, and I'd love to see her in similar future roles (I loved her in Lost, but not so much in Crash Course in Romance).
Esom also adds a notable spark to the film but is perenially underutilized in the industry, suggesting an untapped potential for more prominent roles (I'd love to see her in a Korean remake of Lady Snowblood!!!).
Ultimately, Kill Bok Soon is an engaging, though somewhat rushed, noir action-drama. The conclusion definitely leaves a yearning for a more polished resolution... hinting at a possible sequel?

Motherhood and Assassin Clash in This Great Romp!
I find it interesting that so many viewers are complaining about the ending, and why it feels incomplete. I guess you have to have been around for 45+ years, watching movies and shows to understand that an ending that feels incomplete is because there’s another part on the way. Another episode or another movie. It really isn’t that hard to figure out.Kill Bok Soon is a very good film about a Gil Bok Soon, one of the best assassins of the MK guild. They call them companies, but I think a guild is more accurate. She’s deadly and she brings light humor to her personality. She smirks and lightly banters with her victims in a way that tells them, “This is business. It’s not personal.” What makes this story compelling is that she also has a teenage daughter. And it becomes obvious, very quickly, that her daughter has no idea what she does for a living, and she aims to keep it that way. And there is, of course, some compelling reasons why Bok Soon shields her daughter from her life.
Bok Soon is nearing the end of her contract, and the guild wants her to renew with them. She’s seriously considering retiring. However, can a rogue assassin who is as good as Bok Soon be allowed to simply retire?
Cha Min Kyu is the top assassin of the MK guild. And make no mistake, his skills outrival even Bok Soon’s as we see him take down 30+ Russians in a massacre. His sister, Cha Min Hee is the director of the MK guild, and she views Bok Soon as more of a liability than an asset since her announcement. It’s also obvious that she doesn’t care much for Bok Soon, which makes you also wonder if she knows the secret between Bok Soon and Cha Min Kyu.
Bodies pile up rapidly as it becomes apparent that it’s a fatal mistake to underestimate or even to target Bok Soon. She’s also not stupid. She knows what’s going to happen before it does, even running through probable scenarios in her mind—which play out on the screen in expert fashion. She will also use any item as a weapon. There’s no such thing as fighting fair in a fight, and Bok Soon is a master of this realization. It’s kill or be killed. There’s no room for apologies.
Jason Bourne is still one of my all-time favorite assassins because he’s just as smart as he is deadly. He’s like a grandmaster chess player who is always several moves ahead of his opponents, as well as being able to adapt to his situation with mere seconds of contemplation. Bok Soon is similar in this regard.
That cast is all top-notch, especially Jeon Do Yeon, who is very believable as the assassin Bok Soon. She’s also masterful at giving us a mom who is trying very hard to understand her teenage daughter, and why being a parent is even harder than being an assassin.
As I stated from the beginning, they certainly left the door open for another film, and I would be very surprised if another one isn’t made. Especially given how Bok Soon’s daughter reacts after finding out the truth about her mother. We were left to wonder how she would react to her mother upon finding out who she really is and what she really does. And what is intriguing is that we some elements of a young Bok Soon in her own daughter.
This was a fun film to watch. It’s well-written and well-performed. The fight scenes were all exceedingly well choreographed. Thank God these actors and actresses do their own stunt work, as it makes the scenes all the more believable and intriguing. Looking forward to the next one!
