A mediocre RomCom with not so good acting, and the last 5 episodes were good

"I Belonged to Your World" initially was slowed and draggy, and the Judy Qi is being typed cast. She played a similar role in many of the RomCom dramas and is not a good actress. She is a C-rated actress, and the same for the two ML and supported cast.

However, I am glad I stuck with it because the last 5 episodes were decent. I was happy that the drama only had 20 episodes, with 30 minutes for each episode.

I am not into time travel, but the plot in this one is not bad, and the acting of Liu Yi Tong in this drama was much better than the one he played in "My Eternal Star."

The last 5 episodes were touching, and I think Judy Qi did a good job as her character went through the grief of losing her son. Overall, it is an okay drama, giving it a 6.0 rating.

Unexpectedly Good, Easy to follow story

Its kinda rare for me to like a web drama without dropping but this was good! I really like the relationship between the mother and son, and is definitely the highlight of the show. I like how he takes care of her, really filial. Though he may come pushy at times which would seem annoying to others. The ML is also quite cute, he is very caring of MC. MC is also cute.

The music is a bit eh, but its okay. The acting definitely needed some work, but on their emotional scenes, its very good to look at. The story is new, I really like it. I was actually scared that ill inevitably ship the mother and son, but they have a very cute chemistry, really giving family vibes.

What i didn't like: The son and MC:s mother which is his aunt. Nothing against it, just didn't really like it.

ENDING: CONFUSING HAPPY ENDING? Its really confusing. I don't understand.

Comical turned heart-warming.

The story is pretty funny. A 26 year old son goes to the past where his mom is 16 and tries to get her to marry her “husband” to change her fate. You have to take the story for what it is and for a 20 episode series with 30 mins each, it’s hard to unpack a lot.

I like the casting and the comical feel of the show. The heart of the show is the son, Qi Shuo and although I haven’t seen him in a lot of dramas, he’s someone to watch out for. You really see his unconditional love for his mom and you just want the best for him.

The mom, Qi Yue is something. She’s funny and young. You forget, she’s 16 and this random person came into her life saying he’s her son. It didn’t take her long to believe him and it was pretty much funny from then on out. Judy Qi played her role well and I liked they picked an older actress.

My most favorite moments were the son and mom antics because they are just too adorable together. Who has a son that is 7 years old than her? Then you have the “husband” the person the mom is suppose to pursue, Lu Xiao, he’s the nerdy brain that is just along for the ride.

The romantic aspect of the show is entertaining and it takes a lot for the kids to actually see each other. I just watched Romance of a little forest with Jerron Wu and I like him more in that drama, I think I’s because he got to be more animated.

Overall, I liked the comical side of the show, but all loose ends need to tie together and the last bit is hard to get through, but you need to do it because it’s the end of the show.

Overall, I’m glad I went into it with an open mind and the good ratings really represent the show.

Special bond between Mother & Son - Fun yet Heartbreaking

Subjective Gut Rating: 8.25

I really shouldn't have picked this drama to watch now, as I am trying to adapt to the reality that my son is leaving the nest and going off to college. “I Belonged to Your World” is not making it easy for me when the central storyline is about a devastated adult son who travels back to the past to prevent his mother from marrying his dad. Instead, he wants his mother to marry another classmate who he thinks is the ‘destined’ one and can change his mother’s life for the better.

It’s not really hard to follow the logic of this time-travel drama and imagine how this story is going to unfold and end. The best part and the saddest part of this drama is the fun, touching and crazy mother/son bond. Liu Yi Tong, who plays the future son, Qi Shuo, is excellent in this drama. I’ve never seen him in anything, but he plays the role of cupid and a loving son convincingly. He’s the brightest star and the glue of this show. Qi Yan Di (as Qi Yue) and Jerron Wu (as Lu Xiao) aren’t bad either.

When the mother/son bond is so well-written, the romance pales in comparison. I was initially expecting a cute and fluffy romance, but I don’t think I got a great one. It was fun to see how Qi Yue bulldozed into Lu Xiao’s life with the help of Qi Shuo. However, in a way, it was also very pushy and stalkerish. The chemistry between Qi Yue and Lu Xiao isn’t bad, but also not super convincing. There are times when I thought to myself that Qi Yue doesn’t really like Lu Xiao all that much. She’s more in love with her son, and wants a son more than a boyfriend/husband. I do enjoy watching Lu Xiao slowly falling in love and also feel bad for him in the last couple episodes when he doesn’t seem important at all even at his own wedding.

But if I look past the romance and focus more on the main plot and the reason for the time-traveling, I really enjoy the scenes of Qi Yue, Qi Shuo and Lu Xiao. They really do have great chemistry together as a trio and as a family. The last few episodes brought tears to my eyes.

The rest of the supporting cast is fine. I don’t find anyone too annoying but the roommates don’t really play any important roles. This is a lower budget drama with some editing issues and plot holes. I would have liked to see more scenes of the future, not only of the mother/son duo, but also of Lu Xiao.

All in all, I had a good time watching it. First and foremost, this is a drama about the strong bond between a mother and a son. Their fun banter, care and love for each other makes “I Belonged To Your World” worth watching. If you are looking for romance only, I will not recommend this. This is indeed a heartbreaking yet happy drama.

Sad But Lovely Drama

i really enjoyed this drama and even though it was a time travel drama i didn't know i would love it this much. there haven't been many dramas lately that has piped my interest, but this one surely did. everything from the romance to the drama, to the end ... i loved although the end still has me sad but i'm still trying to get over it. it's the perfect balance between romance and time travel and it's a perfect drama between a mother, and son.

the romance between the main leads weren't slow and they had a lot of cute moments together especially when the son was trying to get them together. the acting from them especially the son was a 10/10. he really was the main character ngl and he owned the show (no offense to the main leads). the casting was also a 10/10 because he truly did look like his mother and even though his dad was someone else, he looked like his mom's husband ... the part where they cried broke me ...

i really think that if you love romance and time travel with some humor, then i really think you should watch this. i am sure it won't disappoint you.

A decent family drama blended with funny camaraderie of mother and son

While trudging on Fox Spirit Matchmaker, I accidentally found this show when I was looking on the main review section. I admitted that the casts looked average, and it might be a low-budget show. But it was the plot that made me glued to my seat as I skimmed through the whole 20 episodes.

The story revolves around the happy-go-lucky and cheerful Qi Yue, the stoic and no-nonsense top student Lu Xiao, and her grown-up yet childish son Qi Shuo, who claimed to have come to Qi Yue’s past time so that Qi Yue didn’t suffer in the future. Logically speaking, if you were Qi Yue and your son suddenly came out of nowhere, telling you that he came from the past using a time machine, would you be baffled? Nah, that was what happened to Qi Yue. Slowly, she started to acknowledge the existence of Qi Shuo. In order to avoid the misfortunes in the future, Qi Shuo became the matchmaker and persuaded her to pursue Lu Xiao as well as she could, because in his eyes, Lu Xiao was the best candidate for Qi Yue’s future husband.

The plot is actually nothing new in a generic family drama though there is a little element of sci-fi through the time travel trope. Fortunately, they don’t dwell very much on it and the plot picks up again where it leaves off. Another good aspect of this show is the bickering relationship between mother and son. You can see that they always argue for trivial matters every day lol. As noted by Lu Xiao, they have similar personalities too. Furthermore, there is no third wheeler which is a fresh air for everyone. All of Qi Yue’s friends are supportive of her and even help her to chase Lu Xiao. The ‘real’ future husband of Qi Yue, Xu Zhaoyang, also has a crush on her, but little does she know about his violent nature, and thus makes the wrong decision to marry him. After Qi Shuo convinces him, he decides to stop chasing Qi Yue and watches her being happy from afar. There is also Liang Yufei who is Lu Xiao’s close friend. She is indeed annoying, but after several episodes, she’ll also let go of Lu Xiao.

Though average the casts may be, they are able to pull off their characters seamlessly. Every arc is done perfectly though there are a few glaring plot holes. The ending is kinda of bittersweet, but I’m glad they make it this way. Personally, I find that Qi Yue has more chemistry with her son compared to Lu Xiao. I don’t know why, but I just can’t feel anything when Qi Yue and Lu Xiao are together (this is just a matter of taste, I suppose). The shooting locations, sets, and wardrobes are nice too.

If you want to watch something simple/short or a fan of bickering family drama, you can give this a shot and see if this is to your liking. Overall, a ten out of ten for this hidden gem. Good luck and happy watching!

Will yu shuo will return or not in season 2 (it's in demand please make it )

Want its season 2 and have some questions like qi yue didn't forgot qi shuo as she ask lu xiao what if there son come from future and say not to marry lu xiao and lu xiao also delivered his Idea as he is going to make time machine. And who was the little girl with qi shuo and how den su ling react to qi yue message is like she still remember qi shue and want him as her husband. So what if qi shuo came back because he got information from his ring ai that his mother is going to make a mistake by asking help from xu xoyuang to have qi shou back as her son, so for which qi shou travel back to his time .(as professor lu xiao told that he still exist in his main timeline by which it means that qi shou have a lot of work pending with lu xiao )to make his mother not do the mistake he might travel back and want to be a cc tv camera as he said in previous episode he is still guiding her as her son but this time not directly but indirectly and after that, he also have to work with lu xiao because without him lu xiao can never make time machine as in first episode .we saw that he is the one have the potential to make time machine and its coordinates to travel back to time. so as this time lu xiao also travel back with qi shou to findout who was qi yue son . Who actually a main reason behind lu xiao and qi yue love and marriage life as they forgot him. but when they both travel back qi shou have fainted (because as we know that same person in one time line can creat a time variation dilation) because qi shou travel with lu xiao would have aged more than qi shou with qi yue at 2021 for which main qi shou have some memories glitch and to save him from that illness lu xiao travel back to his orginal time. As now lu xiao knew qi shuo is qi yue son who change her fate. he started treating qi shou like his son in hospital .and as we know that den su ling has qualified the exam and became a doctor .now she will be the one who will treat qi shuo. and after that lu xiao will decide to travel back in time to know the full truth he
Had forgotten , so he will have a eye on qi shuo and qi yue (of past) and he will note and record it all and know that den su ling is the one who have wrote qi shuo name in her diary and why qi shuo left qi yue house and live in a rented house . After knowing all the truth lu xiao will come to a conclusion that he will change his student cum son fate and give him a life he deserves. So he will came back to his time and reveals the truth that the person is non other then qi shuo who had change qi yue fate to qi yue .and after that it might happen that qi yue will cry a lot and run to find his son. but will find nobody in the hospital as qi shuo and den su ling left the hospital earlier and went to another hospital because den su ling feels a familiar feeling with qi shuo because she might forgot her but her feelings for him will always be the same. Lu xiao will take the full responsibility to make qi shuo come back .but still he will have a question that why qi shuo came back and who was the girl with qi shuo in beach . after a lot of research he will able to find out that qi shuo have made a travel again with his daughter to remind lu xiao to make a time machine .and than lu xiao will search for qi shuo suffering from memories glitch. and there he will come to conclusions that qi shuo dont want to get caught and still hiding from them and escaped from den su ling by tricking her . later we will able to see that den su ling have also some memorie glitch of her past with qi shuo and she will ask qi yue and lu xiao for it and they will find qi shuo in the photo studio with a photo of qi yue , lu xiao and him self in his hand but forgot all memories with all of them. crying and suffering to remember everything later on den su ling will come to comfort him ,but he will refuse her to touch him and qi yue will slap him and would say him that (you are my property and priority how dare you make you mom cry u little brat) and these three will spend time with qi shuo to make him remember them . that will a fun to watch qi shuo as in qi yue place doing the same thing to prove her wrong that she is not her mother and after time pass with all fun he will remember qi yue and there will be a happy scene . As we know lu xiao have made a promise to give his son cum student a good life he and qi yue will try to make qi shuo and den su ling come close . this time den su ling will treat her like he treated her earlier and make him fall in love with her, but than also qi shuo couldn't be able to confess her because he think her as her aunty so lu xiao and qi yue will comfort him to give time to relationship and take time . Here lu xiao and qi yue will tell him how the story has taken an another path and no one could change it and then on a time will come where ,we will see that qi shuo and den su ling started dating eachother and after a long time they will be getting married and this time everyone know who is qi shuo. all will remember him this time and her qi shuo will receive a full amount of his given loan to xu xuayoang where ,he will say finally you are too getting married and will introduce him to his wife who is non other than lu xiao ex girlfriends who will little bit tease him. And after all we will see den su ling and qi shuo having a baby girl and have a familyphoto with qi yue , lu xiao, his little brother lu shuo, den su ling , and him with are daughter and will have a happy ending the show will end here with happy ending and qi yue remembering the movie about time where hero and heroine get happy ending.at last plot we will see lu xiao and qi shuo talking how to make the same change for which qi shuo with his daughter will travel back and the same scene will be repeat which is season 1 last episode seen and the end .

So quirky and funny but dragged out boring

This drama started out with such a different theme that it grabs your attention for the first few episodes.
The FL was fantastic. Unintentionally funny, great comic timing, underplayed in many spots but over the top in some.
And finally........a cdrama where school girls are not wearing skirts as an excuse for underwear.
And no squeaky voices, no behaving like 10- year olds.

So it starts off with a bang.
Through the middle the story drags and drags.
Then you skip every alternate episode and realize the story hasn't budged.

And then finally you drop it......
Not caring how it ends.

Nope -too many wasted hours and couldn't be bothered with the conclusion.
