My Lethal Man (2023)

Live action version of old Harlequin novel

I like reading Harlequin novels once in a while and modern releases are quite refreshing & enjoyable. My Lethal Man is like an adaptation of old Harlequin novels. Full of clichés!

Pros:
1. Pacing - It was good. Despite the clichés, I managed to finish this series within 2 working days.
2. Fan Zhi Xin - Handsome. Gosh his jawline & cheekbones. His acting was ok. He seemed to have fun in behind the scenes.
3. Romance - Plenty make out scenes ?
4. Supporting male leads - I like them both!

Cons:
1. Male lead characterisation - Domineering, sullen boss type.
2. Female lead characterisation - Damsel in distress type. Needs saving all the time except when hero was recovering from mental breakdown and when she came with plan for necklace. I think those were only times she took charge.
3. Mystery - quite predictable.
4. Li Mo Zhi - She's older than Fan Zhi Xin and it shouldn't matter but for this drama, I think Li Mo Zhi could have soften her facial expressions so conflicts can be expressed better.

Favourite scene
When they made out at the bridge. I like when male lead hugs female lead from behind.

ML was the MVP!!

ML literally carried the whole show on his shoulder from start to end for me, just loved his character a lot,...The story is filled with plot holes and gets awaked by the similar face of the FL and ML's sister thing, even though they were not related but still, it was difficult to ignore the fact that ML was madly in love with someone who looked exactly like his sister
but the romantic scenes are directed quite well....there are quite rare shows with such good kissing & intimate scenes
BUT What the Hell was that asthmatic breathing of FL?? It was kind of embarrassing and annoying to watch her act like that, personally, I didn't like the acting of FL much...was only able to complete this solely because of the ML, I hope he gets better projects

What a incredible drama

Very interesting drama, Amazing chemistry, ML Visuals is so good his arm band I'm obsessed with his body language his acting skill OMG! He nailed it?? storyline of this drama is good but acting level is soo good specially ML acting is incredible His handsomeness give me a goosebumps i really loving and inspiring his character?. And romantic scenes of this drama give me a butterflies in my stomach??. Supporting character of their friends is also Amazing they did a great acting . I also love the character of Lin Muffan he is a nice guy with good visuals. This is the best drama with a romantic and amazing storyline. I recommend this drama plz watch and like this drama☺️??

It was a good drama

It was a good drama but it was also kinda weird because he fell in love with a women that looks exactly like his sister. I found that a bit disturbing. But overall it was a good drama. The female lead is kinda annoying. The male lead his handsome and good at acting. There are a lot of plot twists Wich makes the story even more interesting. The male lead is a strong character that has a sad past. Thankfully at the end he found out that his mother was still alive. That made the end even better. The female lead could have had a bit of improvement during the course of the drama but sadly she didn't. The story is kinda sad but it has a happy ending. I love the music in this drama is super catchy. I recommend this drama 100%

Just say no to toxicity

This show kept popping up in my YouRube feed so I thought I’d give this a try. I’m glad I’m old enough now to recognize when something is not going to work for me.

At ep 3, I’m out. All the ML has done “for” the FL so far is guilt trip, threaten, manhandle her, and choke her…and when he walks into the hospital room she seems him with a glowing aura of a saviour around him. Uh, what? She looks at him with stars in her eyes. At this point, I don’t care what happens later. Unless someone points out in their review that the ML apologizes for being a piece of crap and promises never to do those abusive things again to the FL, I won’t be back to finish this. Given that most C-drama MLS never do any such thing doesn’t fill me with hope for this series. Just say no to toxicity.

A Disappointing Blend of Clichés

I approached this drama with high hopes, only to find myself immersed in a sea of clichés. It seems that every slight action or insignificant moment is accompanied by sound effects, slow motion, and excessive zooming. This excessive use of these techniques feels unnecessary. The portrayal of the female lead is another aspect that left me disappointed she appears to be limited to shallow breathing, excessive stuttering, and an inability to complete a sentence. I found myself constantly wanting to skip through these moments. Furthermore, the attempts to showcase the male lead as ruthless, the drama resorts to repetitive scenes where the male lead tries to lean on her, scaring her as if he were an ostrich buffing his feathers. The male lead does have the ability to portray a ruthless character visually. However, the execution falls short, as the drama goes to extreme lengths that feel forced and excessive.

Un scénario plat (et souvent absurde), mais une romance palpitante

C'est sûr, My Lethal Man n'est pas original, au contraire. Il cumule les clichés et les situations qui ont pour but de secourir la FL en difficulté par le charismatique et mystérieux ML. Et ça tombe bien, parce que tout est dans le couple principal qui dégage une alchimie entraînante. En réalité, la romance est le seul intérêt de ce drama. Si on l'enlève, il ne reste plus grand chose, donc...

Le topo de départ pouvait être intéressant, mais le réalisme n'était pas convié lors de l'écriture du scénario. Tant pis ! Cependant, le rythme rend l'ensemble digeste et on se laisse prendre au jeu, même si parfois l'histoire ne fait aucun effort. Les antagonistes sont (comme dans tous C-Dramas du genre) identifiables dès le départ etc. Rien de neuf sous les cocotiers sur ce point. De toute façon, la romance l'emporte sur tout !

C'est la troisième fois que je vois Fan Zhi Xin, et il me charme à chaque fois. Tant en homme mystérieux, cruel et froid comme la glace. Mais aussi en tant qu'homme amoureux. D'ailleurs, il semble à l'aise lorsqu'il s'agit de tourner avec des femmes plus âgées que lui. Et il est fort probablement que ça aide sur la partie où il devient un petit chaton tout mignon.
En revanche, c'est la première fois que je vois Li Mo Zhi. Derrière ses grands yeux plein de larmes, on y voit une actrice solide qui transmet une belle sensibilité. Si son personnage n'est pas mon préféré dans les romances, j'ai apprécié la façon dont elle a dépeint son personnage en évitant de tomber dans la fille stupidement amoureuse et grinçante de niaiserie. Son seul défaut est de ne pas avoir eut de poigne plus tôt, mais les scénaristes ne semblaient pas d'accord sur ce point.

L'alchimie du couple est au rendez-vous. Les personnages sont intéressants, même s'ils ne sont pas des exemples. Les baisers sont magnifiques, le couple dégage un certain attrait qui nous donne envie de continuer pour savoir où ils vont arriver. Même si on se doute de la fin, le cheminement reste intéressant.

Du côté des autres personnages, la meilleure amie (Rao Mei Na) est débile (et ce n'est pas affectueux du tout). Le garde du corps (Yuan Shuai) n'agit que lorsque ça sert l'histoire et le hacker de génie (Fang Xiang) ne semble pas si ingénieux que ça. Leur triangle amoureux n'a aucun intérêt, d'ailleurs. Mais le personnage de Rao Mei Na m'a tellement agacé que j'imagine ne pas avoir porté plus d'intérêt que ça. Quant à Tang Lin et Chang Zhe Kuan avaient un potentiel, mais ils ne servaient qu'à faire progresser l'histoire.

Bref, est-ce qu'il mérite absolument le détour ? Non. En revanche, ne pas avoir d'attente quant au fil rouge de l'histoire permet de ne pas trop s'embêter et de simplement apprécier la romance.

Serie cinese di media (giusta) lunghezza che promette un protagonista maschile freddo e spietato e, una volta tanto, mantiene la parola.
Yan Xing Cheng mi ha ricordato per certi versi i protagonisti di "Fall in love" e "Vincenzo": un'infanzia travagliata dalla quale emerge un uomo freddo, spietato e determinato, intelligente e calcolatore. Certo, la spietatezza di Tan Xuan Lin e di Vincenzo (protagonisti delle sopracitate serie) era un po' più accentuata, arrivando non di rado ad uccidere (i cattivi), mentre Yan Xing Cheng arriva a mostrare atteggiamenti decisamente aggressivi, ma mai fino a quel punto.
Brava, ma non spettacolare, l'interpretazione della protagonista femminile: il personaggio di Manning a volte evolve troppo rapidamente e in modo incoerente (alla sua prima comparsa nelle vesti dell'altra donna è paralizzata dalla paura, ma basta un niente e si trasforma in una donna sicura di sé e capace di salvare un importante compagnia da un crollo finanziario...pur essendo laureata in arte). Qualche falla ogni tanto c'è, ma la serie complessivamente merita di essere vista, anche solo per la chimica tra i due attori che funziona più che in molte altre serie (e infatti i baci sono numerosi, per la maggior parte non a stampo, come invece è lo standard delle serie cinesi). L'evoluzione del rapporto tra i due è piacevole da seguire, la trama di intrighi e misteri che li circonda anche seppur - appunto - non sempre coerente.
Personalmente avrei evitato la questione della sosia: difficile da motivare dal momento che non sono parenti - ancora più difficile da credere quando poi le rispettive famiglie sono comunque connesse - e sostanzialmente non fondamentale per l'obiettivo che evidentemente ci si poneva. L'errore sul rapimento lo si poteva motivare in altro modo e considerato che nessuno aveva più visto la vera Zin Yan da oltre 15 anni, una vaga somiglianza sarebbe bastata per spacciare la protagonista femminile per la giovane ereditiera. Una forzatura poco credibile e non così necessaria, insomma. Quanto meno la questione viene archiviata nella prima metà della serie e non va a inficiare il resto della storia.
Personaggi secondari apprezzabili ma non sempre interessanti. Il finale, o più precisamente gli ultimi 2-3 episodi sono stati un po' una falla: il protagonista, splendidamente coerente fino a quel momento, crolla come l'argine di una diga e la spietatezza lascia il posto a sguardi tristi e fiumi di lacrime: che questo crollo concida con la dipartita del nonno ha senso fino a un certo punto...Non crolla dopo l'evidente assassinio della giovane sorella, ma davanti alla morte preannunciata del nonno dovuta a una malattia terminale... Chiamiamolo effetto "ora sono davvero solo al mondo", ma a mio avviso non regge lo stesso. Sempre negli ultimi episodi, anche la chimica tra i due si intiepidisce, l'attenzione sembra rivolta unicamente a risolvere il grande mistero sul vero colpevole... Risoluzione che lascia un po' l'amaro in bocca: il colpo di scena - se voleva esserlo - non lo è stato, il ritorno di un personaggio dato per disperso ha solo peggiorato la situazione, rendendola ancora più assurda. La storia si chiude senza la sensazione che sia stata fatta giustizia. In conclusione, una buona serie che ha il pregio di avere un protagonista freddo e distaccato per davvero, quasi fino alla fine (e non una premessa che poi viene snaturata dopo il primo episodio come il più delle volte accade). Buon romance, intrighi non originalissimi e con qualche crepa di coerenza. Una visione che può starci, senza problemi.

Tinha potencial

Confesso que estou decepcionada, tinha tanta expectativa para este drama, e não foi nada que eu imaginei e sim uma completa decepção, confesso que quando eu desligava meu cerébro eu até curtia alguns momentos ,mas logo meus neurônios voltavam a funcionar e eu ficava me perguntando que confusão é essa.

A protagonista feminina é lamentavel,era dificil gostar dela, sério o personagem me dava nos nervos, ela se enquadra naquele velho esteriótipo que conhecemos dos clichês ,delicada ,alegre, fofinha, manipilável e que só faz escolhas que a põe em situações perigosas para o protagonista masculino ir até ela resgata-lá, duvidei da inteligência dela em vários momentos, inclusive como ele pode ser tão subimissa ao ponto de se apaixonar perdidamente por um homem qua até um momento a trás estava estrangulando-a, como assim você se apaixona nessa situação, mesmo o cara sendo atraeente para os padrões deles isso é muito estranho para mim.

E não venha romantizar o romance entre os protagonistas pois para mim é tóxico e ponto. Outro ponto que me deixava desconfortável era o fato de como você pode se apaixonar por alguém com a mesma aparência da sua irma biológica, vou dar um desconto pois ele não teve contato com ela muitos anos e não sabia como ela se parecia mas mesmo assim era estranho quando me vinha a mente.

Algo que gostei muito neste drama foi a ost . As atuações estavam descentes também.

Em fim posso te dizer com conficção que não assistirei a isso novamente, se você for assistir então boa sorte.

The female protagonist is regrettable, it was difficult to like her, seriously the character got on my nerves, she fits that old stereotype that we know from clichés, delicate, cheerful, cute and that only makes choices that put her in dangerous situations for the male protagonist going to her to rescue her, I doubted her intelligence on several occasions, including how he could be so submissive to the point of falling head over heels in love with a man who until a moment ago was strangling her, how do you fall in love in that situation, even though the guy is attractive by their standards this is very strange to me.

And don't romanticize the romance between the protagonists because for me it's toxic and period. Another point that made me uncomfortable was the fact that how can you fall in love with someone who looks the same as your biological sister, I'll give it a break because he hasn't had contact with her for many years and didn't know what she looked like but it was still strange when it came to mind.

In the end I can tell you with confidence that I will not watch this again.
