Was not expecting much but was still let down
Cheer Up is soo... infuriating. I watched it till the 7th episode till I couldn't anymore. I hate hate hate FLs who act like that-the constant confused face, drops and loses things all the time, is honestly just ill-mannered and gets passed off as "quirky". The writers gave her the story of a mature, responsible sister who is always looking to make an extra buck but asked her to act like an idiot who doesn't know any better.I know who she is going to end up with and the guy is so uninteresting, I would rather look at a wall instead. Usually, I wait atleast till the 8th episode to decide if a drama is worth it. But here, I am giving up. It's not worth it. This drama is terrible to say the least.

Not the absolute worst, but not that great either
Is this the worst college drama to ever exist?Probably not, but it is something of a disappointment.
There’s a lot of lost potential with this one.
Maybe it would have never been a masterpiece, but I do feel like it could have been something decent.
If you’ve watched lots of college centered dramas, this probably won’t be anything outstanding. It might really get on your nerves, though.
I think the cast is fine for the most part, the acting was okay too, and I was generally intrigued by the concept of the cheering squad. Unfortunately, the plot is just NOT it. Attempting to branch out into one too many genres can be detrimental to the story telling and the plot, especially if there’s already an issue with coherency. Sometimes it's best to stick to one thing and actually work out a proper storyline around it.
I started to get quite annoyed at some point and decided to look into spoilers, and that’s when I realized that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy this.
The FL Do Hae Yi had some refreshing traits, among some that were not so refreshing, but I was looking forward to seeing her character grow. Unfortunately, character growth is nowhere to be seen when it comes to any of the leads. While I liked the ML Bae In Hyuk, it seemed like the writers had given up on fleshing out his character further beyond the "Nice Guy" persona, which is a shame.
As for the SML, Jin Sun Ho, I found it quite concerning to see how some people were actually rooting for him. To me, his behavior was very much obsessive, creepy and off-putting. The whole love-triangle was just infuriating.
I liked most of the supporting cast members, and I honestly wish more attention had been paid to the growing friendship between the cheer squad members.
Sad to say, this drama did not cheer me up one bit, instead it left me feeling frustrated and annoyed.

In the end, it was good:)
Many viewers are giving negative comments, some dropped it early on… for me the initial first few episodes were cute. I particularly liked Do Hae Yi. Her character was very refreshing. She’s the type to speak honestly and openly; she’s bubbly and ecstatic , and just very cheery :):)I put this drama on hold for a bit around the 5th episode. Yes.. the plot line was all over the place. It included some psychopath trying to hurt a member of the squad; so there were some “scary” moments. Uhmmm this didn’t quite fit into the overall vibe of the drama. I came back to it after a few weeks and the pace got better then. Just needed a break I guess. Then there were the mother elements- one got divorced, the other got cancer. So a lot of crying and learning to deal issues.
The love triangle- now many viewers had major issues with this. Personally, it didn’t really give me much angst haha. Meaning to say it didn’t bother me that much. The first kiss with 2ML I felt was not good- he shouldn’t have taken advantage of a drunk woman, but then the vomiting on him was quite funny! Many viewers thought the ML was too good for the FL. I kinda agree- he seems tooooo perfect lol. Didn’t get jealous, was SO understanding and forgiving, and so magnanimous in being there for her despite her wanting to break up. He’s DA MAN!! Plus, I love Bae In Hyuk :)
All throughout the drama, I couldn’t help but wonder about the cheer moves and the costume. Some viewers responded to my comment and said that this is how it’s like in SK.. unlike the American cheer leading. So I just found that quite strange.
It’s a no fluff drama, don’t really have to think hard to understand the plots ;);) and it’s not a binge-watch drama either. Oh, I skipped most of the “older couple” scenes. Too meh to watch haha. It’s a uni drama, just don’t expect too much and you’ll be fine.

where has this been all my life?????
where has this been all my life???? like it was sooooo good, cast was amazing and storyline was also amazing. I just looooove this kdrama. finished this in like a week(because of work?) but i really liked hae-i and jung-woos relationship, like there wasn’t anything toxic, jung-woo gave hae-i the time she needed and helped her, thats what you do in relationship. at times it felt like sun-ho was main lead because he was everywhere and jung-woo second lead. also they shouldn’t have added that killer dude there, everything was good but then he came and boom everything was bad and sad. I really liked hae-is character she was soooo chaotic, like you never know what comes next with her haha. Jung-woo was also so cute like he shyshy but the way he looked at hae-i??love in his eyes. overall very good and it’s like fresh and youthful, this show gave me warmth, how they cared for each other ?Was this review helpful to you?
A Solid Coming of Age Story
I thought this was a solid coming of age drama. You get a mix of multiple genres, such as romance, friendship, suspense, and some thrill.in my opinion, it did take some time for the cast to have a solid chemistry. There were moments where I felt some characters were a little bit more plain than others. By the end of it, I was satisfied with the chemistry and how it ended.
my biggest issue was the suspense and thrill part of it. I felt like this “mystery/killer” was unnecessary at some times. It felt like it was only there too give the audience a little break of between the romance, friendship building and character growth.

Slice of life content
i honestly love the story of how a 20-yr-old girl conquered her struggles as a bread winner of the family. I know everyone can relate to her story; her difficulties as the eldest, played the role of her deceased dad, college student having so many part time jobs, and joining extracurricular activities in school which is the cheering squad and that's when romance barged in. This drama is fun and exciting to watch. This is a gem in kdrama world in 2022. Are you ready for an emotional ride? Thanks for reading my short review. Was this review helpful to you?
Plot done to death, just kill love triangles and focus on friendship stories T_T
Sassy go go, school 2017, age of youth, my comparisons and my hopes. Sadly it's too much like the 1st two and nothing like the 3rd oneThis is cute and she is one of the rare cutie, she's social and fun loving so her bubbly personality makes sense and her past trauma doesn't make her jaded or self pitying. But the story doesn't do anything me
The ml feels bland, I'm glad his getting more recognition but he has no depth, he just feels like the neighborhood's sunbae
Atleast the uni and club stuff should make me nostalgic but I don't connect. The dance doesn't seem to have any purpose
Maybe back in 2016 I'd have liked it more. I compared this to sassy go go tho tho I don't know know if I'd like that either now? I also would've hoped for a age of youth type of friendship but tbh the love triangle and the romance ruins the potential of it being a fun slice of life experience even like school 2017

I wanna be a part of the cheerleading team!!!
Accidentally started to watch this drama because I wanted to see some college romance, light heartfelt drama and this one is really fulfilling- added to it- comedy, mystery and thrilling subplots to the story which I love it.Wanted to watch it for Han Ji Hyun and Bae In Hyuk but the rest of the cast are adorable as well. Especially Jang Gyuri and Kim Hyun Jin.
Well, I hope to see more development to the plot as it progresses since its kinda really awesome to see a cheerleading squad and with all the performances and excitement. I just want to be a part of "Team THEIA".

FL/ML chemistry is low
This is a common problem with kdramas, they get one Lead right and the other Lead WRONG. They have little chemistry. It's like they're siblings. I tried watching a couple times because the actors are great. The writing is predictable. This could've been a movie not a 16 episode series.I've seen a few good reviews but it's just not for me. In the 3 episodes I've watched it's CLEAR the second male lead would be better suited to be with the FL. But the writers are forcing them to be with someone "closer to their level".
There are so many talented actors/actresses in this show. It's a shame the writers were so bad.

Was this review helpful to you?
Cheer up Theia!
