Not the absolute worst, but not that great either
Is this the worst college drama to ever exist?
Probably not, but it is something of a disappointment.
There’s a lot of lost potential with this one.
Maybe it would have never been a masterpiece, but I do feel like it could have been something decent.
If you’ve watched lots of college centered dramas, this probably won’t be anything outstanding. It might really get on your nerves, though.
I think the cast is fine for the most part, the acting was okay too, and I was generally intrigued by the concept of the cheering squad. Unfortunately, the plot is just NOT it. Attempting to branch out into one too many genres can be detrimental to the story telling and the plot, especially if there’s already an issue with coherency. Sometimes it's best to stick to one thing and actually work out a proper storyline around it.
I started to get quite annoyed at some point and decided to look into spoilers, and that’s when I realized that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy this.
The FL Do Hae Yi had some refreshing traits, among some that were not so refreshing, but I was looking forward to seeing her character grow. Unfortunately, character growth is nowhere to be seen when it comes to any of the leads. While I liked the ML Bae In Hyuk, it seemed like the writers had given up on fleshing out his character further beyond the "Nice Guy" persona, which is a shame.
As for the SML, Jin Sun Ho, I found it quite concerning to see how some people were actually rooting for him. To me, his behavior was very much obsessive, creepy and off-putting. The whole love-triangle was just infuriating.
I liked most of the supporting cast members, and I honestly wish more attention had been paid to the growing friendship between the cheer squad members.
Sad to say, this drama did not cheer me up one bit, instead it left me feeling frustrated and annoyed.
