I feel that something is missing.

I have been waiting for this series for such a long time. And now it has done. While I do love this series, I felt that something is missing from this series for it to be perfect for me.

Pros:
❤️ Beautiful cinematography
❤️ Excellent acting from not just the main actors but from all of the actors (looking at Khaotung Thanawat Ratanakitpaisan. While I didn't really like 'The Eclipse', he got my attention with his acting there. In this series...he impressed the hell out of me).
❤️ Time jumps did not actually annoy me
❤️ Getting to see Earth and Mix again in another series, where they did not disappoint me as well as watching another series from Aof.

Cons:
? I felt that something was missing. I really can't explain it better than this. I guess that I had extremely high expectations and it just wasn't able to reach it. Because the series did start off good and... something just went off. But it was able to get back on track by episode 7 and 8. Please note that this is my personal opinion.

In the end I give the story an 8, the acting a 9.5, the music a full blown 10 and the rewatch an 8. Overall, I give this series a 9. I honestly thought that this was going to be my first 10 BL for this year.

It's Really, Really Good. I Wish It Was Great.

This is probably the best Thai BL I've ever watched. It was like a regular show and I didn't feel the need to give it a pity grade(look, we all do it).

That being said, it's still not very great. Good. Not great. Writing still lacks in the pacing department. And, yeah, that makes a difference. I imagine that for some reason an editing department doesn't exist or maybe they think it's unnecessary to have one but, whew, watching fifty different angles and facial expressions as they repeat how sad they are is--it's less impactful not more. And it takes a solid 5 to 8 minutes of additional runtime. Now, imagine this is the worst example but certainly not the only one.

The story is solid. The actors are good. Earth really shines here. And so does the actress who plays Gaipa/Kaipa's mother. And it's egregious that she doesn't have a casting photo or even a blank one on the cast list. She's important dang it! For several of her scenes, I forgot I was watching a genre of television that gets shafted(don't laugh) when it comes to the writing room. And, boy, did this one ever.

I won't go on to complain because that's a bit unfair. The cinematography in the opening shots and the consequential ones were beautifully done. Lighting. Perfect. Set design, environment, and casting, so far as appearances go, are spot on. When Jim and Wen met, I was ready to love this. This was going to be the BL to end all and be all.

But, it suffers from a lack of editing necessary for proper pacing. And it was really only the times involving Wen. Which is unfortunate because I enjoyed his backstory. The funny thing is that for all that time spent on camera angles and repetitive conversations, it would've been better spent on Wen's internalized feelings blossoming into something real. I would've liked to see the differences in Wen's behavior compared to at the start of the drama when he was being flirtatious but lacking all experience in that form of confidence to when he learned to own his confidence completely. Instead, I watched Wen appear to always be confident from beginning to end except during his backstory parts--where he was a normal human being.

I have the typical issues with unnecessary relationship drama(not Wen) that could've been better set off as something that happened prior to the start of the drama and then tying off loose ends in the actual drama. It probably would've cleared up the pacing to make room to focus on Wen. Just saying. I wanted more Wen character-focused backstory but whatever.

I legit have nothing to say about Heart and Li Ming's portion. I think Heart's story is pretty interesting and it seems like it's been done very well. My isolated experiences with the deaf is that I was raised near the Maryland School for the Deaf. And I've probably see more deaf people than others have. It really doesn't give me an idea of what's proper or not. Add on the cherry that Thai sign language is a different form of sign language altogether--it seemed legit.

But yeah, maybe that should've been my headline.

The entire show.

It seemed legit.

I would be happy to know continuation of all heroes' lifes

First of all, main couple's story was not intended for teen audience or for those who find a pleasure in watching fluffy or light romcoms, but business is a business and company did emphasized a little bit the story line of teenagers for commercial purposes which is in a way understandable. Personally I started to like to watch life dramas only as I was growing older and after going through some life hardships so I don't blame those who don't find appeal in main couple's story line. It's just not for them.
I liked the acting in these series and especially Khaotung's portrayal of his character left an imprint in my mind. Khaotung is like a magician who pulls you in his fictional world and allows you to see and to feel it through his personage. I believe this ability is a gift by nature so there is no need to compare it with other actors' abilities.
Alan and Wen's story was very heavy and well played as well. They both were guilty and they both struggled and I cheered for both of them and I wanted them to be happy together or on their own.
Jim was like a basis for all other participants, his plain and maybe not so exciting story line became a canvas for embroidering of the stories of other characters. His story is not a romantic story but a story of accepting, transformation, adaptation.
The colour grading was interesting. I did remember that there were a lot of red lanterns.
The storytelling itself was not perfect. There were plotholes, some events and dialogues were happening out of logic of story.
Finally, it would be nice to meet the heroes of these series again in the future.

Such a masterpiece

Such a masterpiece created by p'aoff , really thanks to everyone who contributed in this series , every dialogue hitted and looked soo personal so poetic the use of metaphors especially scenes like lighting the fire back when wen and alan were breaking up or anything that's related to liming

uncle Jim is one of the most relatable character, i really loved how his struggles were shown realistically , the time when wen says "why your wall so high" it really showed the struggles and past relationship trauma it was elaborated perfectly. the relationship of jim and liming was the highlight for me bec liming portrayed by p'fourth was really good , the struggles of being a teenager really portrayed nicely
coming to the my fav characters alan and gaipa ? i just know that these two are made for each other kind of character first and khaotang did a fabulous job i am less with words when i have to describe these two
heart one of the most important and beautiful character... Kudos to gemini the way he brought heart to life for me .. i related everything, the boy deserves so many awards for his acting still can't believe it was his first gig ever
the last and the best wen ... phi mix did a awesome job he is such a nice hearted person... the acting amazing .. i really wanted to hug wen when he said he is looking for someone who is a home to him
no doubt his relationship with Alan was , once u r detached from someone u can't build the relationship again .
my fav scene of whole series would be alan and wen fight scene bec that never leaves my mind . I hope people can get to the depth of this sereis it's too poetic and i love it soooo much ????

So far one of my absolute favorites in 2023

A beautiful and very well done series that doesn't necessarily follow the standard recipe of an BL. The characters all have their faults and quirks, no one is perfect and not everything is just happy fluffy clouds and stuff.
We accompany the characters as they struggle through life, develop, fall in and out of love, overcome hartships and finding their ways in live.

In addition, the cast is absolutely on point. Earth and Mix in the leading roles, Forth & Gemini and Khao & First in the side couples. If you not already like the couple of Earth and Mix, you will fall in love with the couple played by Gem and Forth at latest.

For someone who doesn't like EarthMix, I did pretty good job in surviving following all their series. Don't ask me the reason, I did say everything on my previous reviews. lol

There are some special aspects that this series deserves four stars rating. They actually did awesome performances on this show. Their chemistry and the romance weren't too excessive, like they did on their previous series. I hate #OneNightStand idea of the very beginning, but turn out the story went really well from that part. I usually waiting for the main couple to be in an official relationship, but on this show I didn't have much expectation from them. By watching EarthMix together in every single day, was enough for me.

Fourth is my new favorite Thai actor! ? I fell in love with him easily, especially since they’ve been pairing him with Gemini back to back in two great series. His acting skill reminds me of Bank Thiti when He was younger. And I really want to see him more in the next BL series!

And the last one is.... watching Khaotung and First together again on this series, is a bonus. I did not see any trailer or even the poster, so when First appeared I actually can guess about his “spark” with Khaotung.

Thai series have more a "lakorn" style recently. Even though I am not a fans of that kind of style, but this series offered more than any other series that has more episodes.

one detail is really matter

the plot was really good not that kind of dramatic series its really fun and easy to watch, GOD DAMN THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN EARTH AND MIX WAS SO GOWWWD, I REALLY WANT TO CRYY, THEIR SKINSHIP WAS SO SO SO SOFT AND DEEP, felt like they can tell everything just by their touch and eyes. the cinematography was really good this remind me alot with itsay, it almost get 10/10 but some frame get too high saturation (?) or kind of too bright tone idk. just some of frame but really make the cinematography get minus point and it was really annoying for me, but the rest was perfect

Beautiful show with lots of relatable characters!

I really enjoyed this show. I'd heard that it was boring from a few people but I think they didn't fully appreciate it. It does lack the dramatic storyline in KinnPorsche or the maturity of Only Friends, but it is the most relatable and realistic BL I've seen in a long time. It doesn't glamourise anything - just shows the honesty and struggles of working class people while bringing a slow romance into it. There were many subplots and side characters - each of them with their own charm and differences.
Wen and Jim's story was interesting, both of them had unresolved issues. Jim's hesitation to enter a relationship was very understandable, as was Wen's tricky situation with Alan. Like real life, all characters had aspects I didn't like. I felt for Alan, I know he was heartbroken but I also completely understand Wen, falling out of love like that would have been confusing and upsetting for both of them, so his frustration for Alan continuing like they are still together is totally justified, as well as the financial aspect of being unable to move out.
This made it even better when both of them found their people (FirstKhao!!!) at the end, this show is really all about personal growth. Gaipa's mother's death was so shocking and awful - of course it happened to the character that relied on his mother the most. Khaotung was amazing at the portrayal of grief mixed with his unrequited love for his friend. It was satisfying how all the characters came together like puzzle pieces and complimented each other perfectly. Alan and Gaipa could both provide a bit of comfort to one another in really tough times and that made their unexpected relationship grow.
Leng's story with his girlfriend was also one of the most relatable storylines in a while, so many young parents worry about finances and family so seeing them get support from all of their friends was lovely, Mark is such a versatile actor.
Li Ming and Heart's relationship is the healthiest I have seen in a long time. They had funny moments but it was also so beautiful seeing Heart find his voice due to a boy he used to dislike being the only one making an effort to communicate - this show sets an examples for parents with ill/disabled children everywhere! As well as that, Li Ming's anxiety and family situation spoke to me a lot, his mother's and uncle's concern over him was understandable but it was also lovely to see his confidence grow so he could show that he can handle things.
Basically, yes some of the show moved slow and was a little boring, BUT the cinematography and production of it was beautiful, the acting was great and every little storyline was brilliant and relatable to so many people. This is a perfect show for a quiet night in where you aren't too bothered about a dramatic show that will make your jaw drop.

Beautiful love stories and real moments of life

The trailer didn't really make me want to see it. I was afraid of another smooth love story in chicken sauce. Within the first few minutes, when inflation and COVID-19 were discussed, I realized I was wrong. If there are indeed love stories, they are for once shown in a realistic way. It's a far cry from "I'm not gay but" and that's a good thing. We believe in it.

This series is also a real social fable: we talk about social classes, money, homosexuality, abortion, traditions. Everything is treated in a sober, well-filmed way. The emotions are perceptible, without exaggeration.

The acting is of high quality. Special mention to Khao. Without spoiling you, I can just say that in the scene where he holds back from crying, we are really touched!

I wish I had the opportunity to see more shows like this one, because here we are talking about real life of real people, and we adhere! I recommend it.

Awesome series

What a great BL series. Congratulations to the creators and the actors. Whomever selected the couples too. Bravo! I'm not sure of the story made the actors or the actors made the story. Both really! I didn't like the episodes coming out on 2 consecutive nights. I think the series would have had more impact with weekly releases or at least 3 days between episodes. Kaotung as Giapa gets the best actor award and Alan as first runner up. Almost wining with the most difficult role. Heart and Li meng was also ground breaking and fitting in the series. With that in mind I wish we would have seen more of those characters. Overall, this series for sure could have gone for 10 or 12 episodes. A sincere congratulations again to the entire cast and creative staff. Well done. I really enjoyed this series! Also a shout out for Saleng.

At night, the emotions will kick in

They did pretty great as expected. With the powerful lineup of casts and gloomy vibes of the story, this has been one of my most anticipated dramas of the year. It was just relaxing to see how they nailed every storytelling of each character from the beginning until the end. No one has been left behind.

EarthMix leading the show gives you a touch of calmness from their genuine acting and beholding their firm characteristics into something memorable. They give the right amount of feelings that will attack your soft spot to feel their warmness.

Gemini and Fourth once again own the show! I swear to god that these two young actors are such gems. They always deliver impactful emotions to their viewers whether it may be by means of romance or drama. They never failed to amaze me. I am always in the excitement about every single Heart and Li Ming scene. Their chemistry is super strong.

This has been also one of the best acting performances of both Khaotung and First. Their dramatic plots win me solely because of how fluent they are in releasing all of those needed emotions just by looking into their eyes.

We are all gays in this show and I am loving it! The remarkable script, powerful cast, and letting you feel all kinds of emotions lead them to their successful victory as a drama. However, despite the positive feedback I have for this show, it is not still enough for me to give it a higher rating as I honestly feel bland for most of the scenes during its earlier episodes. Still, Moonlight Chicken is the kind of BL that will not only provide you the sweetness from the BL actors but also tells wonderful stories of individuals who face daily struggles in life.

Loved it!!!

I really liked this series. Not only have I watched a few series before this one of the actors but I also just really liked the story I read about it. Whilst watching it I was certainly interested. I loved not only the main couple but also the side ones!! It kept me on my toes plus the fan service and small twists added a lot to it. The actors really showed emotion and I couldn't even tell it was acting! I loved it!! I wouldn't say it is in my top 10, only because they could've done a lot more with the storyline, but it was great other then that!

Would recommend! I wouldn't watch it multiple times, but definitly would suggest it.
