It had the chance to be something better

Playlist resets its well known franquise "Love Playlist" with new cast, new songs, surprises but basic main story.

Gonna start with what I like, the supporting characters had a good development and althought Tae Yong didn't have his love story with his friend, and it's okay cause we saw they are friends and both were respecftul with their feelings. 2022 was the year of BL, multiple producers doing mini dramas and Playlist had saw the potential and made it with a realistic way.

But now what I dislike, once again, the same old story.... We both like each other but you know, I don't wanna risk our friendship so let's keep being just friends... of course, I'll date someone that I find attractive while you cry in your room and get over of your feelings... but don't date other guys cause I'll realize I have feelings for you and will get jealous, oh and now that I got ride of the other girl, I want you back cause you were about to be happy with someone else---- That's the story here. I can't believe that after 12 episodes of FL character development at the end she ends up with that Do Yoon boy, I'm dissapointed but not surprised, it's the same old story.

Waste of time

Not Good Enough

Korean Web Drama " New Love Playlist " is a drama of the Love Playlist series. This time, it takes up the love and friendship of college students during the Covid-19 era.

And even though the concept is interesting, and the mood of the drama just right, youthful and light, as it was in the previous dramas of the series, the story wasn't as strong. It was predictable and cheesy and the drama got too cringey by trying to be hip and up to date with the social media trends. Also, the romance didn't work due to the decisions of the characters. Everything would have been solved if the characters were honest with their feelings. Alas, there was too much unnecessary drama for no reason.

On the other hand, the friendship was enjoyable to watch and the college friends had good chemistry with them. Unfortunately, the side characters' stories were left half baked. The constant getting drunk of the female lead got annoying after a while as well.

So, overall, three out of ten.

Short and cute - worth your time

This series does not bring something new or special to the table. But it's really cute and the actors are beautiful. Especially Ms. Oh Yu Jin. I think she did a tremendous job and made the series worth a watch. I was surprised to find that she was True Beauty's FL's best friend in that series.

The Good:
- Ms Oh Yu Jin. Beautiful and an excellent actress
- But overload at the end. A couple who really love each other and show it.
- Simple story, which was the right length

The Sub-Optimal
- Nothing new here
- Acting generally good, but not great

So...
Don't expect to much. Enjoy a quick binge.

Overall, a very cute series.

I placed spoilers at the end of this review.

I did not see any of the seasons of the original series (Love Playlist), so I did not have any expectations coming into this series. Although the story concept is nothing new, it’s one that many can relate to. The script is good, but I was confused at times because of the time flashes back and forth. However, this may be due to editing choices. On a personal level, I loved how they handle the character Moon Tae Young and his storyline. Well, with the one exception. See spoiler alert at the end of this review if you want more information. I thought the cast did a great job with their characters.

Random Note:

For those that did see the original series, I’m sure you will enjoy the actors from the various seasons guest roles throughout this series.

******Spoiler Alert******

I like how episode 6 was devoted to Moon Tae Young. It gave a very mature insight on the struggles of dating when you are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. My only complaint is they wait until the very end of the last episode to introduce a possible love interest for him. However, I’ll forgive them if this becomes one of the storylines for season 2.

Let’s face it, there will probably be a season 2. My wish list is that they don’t screw up the relationship development with Do Min Joo and Park Do Yoon. They can focus more on the possible love interest for Moon Tae Young and introducing one for Kim Yoo Jin. They could even possibly create a love story between Yoon Seul and Ahn Jin Woo. Anything to prevent the tired “We broke up” over nothing storyline that plaque so many sequels

a cute giving butterflies on your stomach web drama, but an open-minded relationship serie :))

I need to watch the other series of love playlist since I think i skippeed 4 series after realizing it while watching in the middle of the drama. I just saw this drama from an instagram post in playlist official account. I'll make this short since this web drama was cute after all, but honestly, nothing quite special for me. I'll give a summary about why I gave this web drama an 8 out of 10. (i guess I recommend the viewers to give it a try ;) )

I like the story, involves different types of relationships, whether friendship or couple relationship in their freshmen year in college (as what the plot says). The story and plot talks or tells us about the hardships and sufferings of having a relationship such as misunderstandings, unconditional or one-sided love, or a fling. Realizations where in fact it has different phases from the characters point of view, with struggles and difficulties in the characters college life. Telling us what is love and a relationship for them, that it also begins to their point of view. I think it has different story, but same vibe to the other characters as well, meaning having different kinds of relationships. And with the ending,

Now i'll talk about the scenes and the ost. Seems like its okay for me, i think I would appreciate more the cinematography and the scenes that made me flutter, and giving so much atmosphere as well!

With the cast, they were so cute as well! especially the female lead and the male lead. The chemistry were so realll and their friendship were too precious even on-screen or off-screen. I should look forward to the casts next projects. I think as what I have noticed, some of them had their very first roles from this project, while few of them appeared in some other dramas. Well hoping they could get a new role as well, especially they would be called as rookies soon enough :))

Overall, good for binge-watch, a time kill as well. and good for beginners that this web drama gives a little butterfly in your stomach.
Looking forward to the casts next drama project!!! kudos to them!!!

Cliche

Short, but the new lineup of actors is nice! The main story is a bit boring and luckluster as its the same old “we’re bestfriends and dating would ruin that” trope.

I was enjoying the main story until FL went down the boring route and completely threw away the development out the window on the last episode.
FL’s development ruined this drama ; she was doing amazing in exploring a relationship outside her circle but she came running back the moment ML confessed to her.

Also disliked the story for the side characters, especially Taeyongs.
