This drama is WORTH to watch!!!! Don't judge it by 1st ep

It's just a great one in the genre it includes anything!!! Full emotions , lessons , science, interesting stories and good casting with lovely chemistry also I couldn't have any imaginations about anything till the end!!
I don't know what do people want from a drama .... I just know if you don't watch it or drop in first episodes you don't have this right to share unrelated comments and give a shit ..... This drama is an on growing one
Abt the bromance it was something special among all bromance I mean it's really bromance like two brothers they came to each other like a healer and it was heart melting during all . I Loved all information about our brain all said had attracts and made you fall in love with learning also the fun side was something besssssst something like Waikiki the ideas were new and amazing

Not the finest show but it has it's good moments

The drama had potential. I enjoyed the cases although some of the science is questionable. The side stories are too time consuming and I found myself a bit bored during the first half. Some of the comedy was funny like the ex-wife randomly climbing a pole or the chief feeling overshadowed. But other aspects like the male leads bickering just made me wish they would get on with solving the case. This comedy style was not working for me. I was more invested in the mystery element which improves in the second half.

When it came to the actual cases, it had my full attention. I was invested. I just wish I didn't have to watch the other aspects which felt like fillers. I might be in the minority but then everyone has a different taste in comedy. The first episode was a miss for me but the subject was intriguing enough to make me want to continue. After the case of episode 6 was over, I fell asleep watching the side plot.

Around episode 7 - 8, the series really improved. The cases were good, the bickering was less, the mystery element was more and I started to enjoy the episodes. But towards the end, the series started to plateau a bit.

As for the finale, I was disappointed if I'm being fair. The second half of the finale had some nice moments, but the first half made me roll my eyes at it.

Skip the next paragraph to avoid spoilers.

SPOILERS coz I can't explain without them:
- The brain waves battle was very unscientific with poor graphics. Both male leads were under stress, that itself should have allowed some of their waves to match or to reject the results off the bat. And there was another way to beat the results. For Myung Se to trick his brain as well so they can "meet in the middle" and thus win the game. Also, what happened with Hwang Dong Woo was also a bit over the top.
- The only thing I can appreciate is the happy ending for Myung Se and So Jung's character. That was sweet.

To sum up - this series was a mixed bag where I really enjoyed the good elements and some of the comedy really made me laugh. Whereas, the bad parts bored me to sleep. If you like the actors and the comedy is more your style, you might enjoy Brain Works more than I did.

Interesting Brain Cases

Brain Works (2023)

Likes
1. Comedy + crime solving is always up my alley. The cases were related to the brain so very interesting esp when Shin Haru describes how the brain normally works and there are little characters showing to demonstrate his explanation.
2. I thought CTH again as a detective? But he was slightly different here than Police U. Here he is still upstanding but more softhearted. His nice guy was a big contrast to YH's serious Haru. I wished th elast epsiode showed Haru to smile more and join the team dinner and be more friendly, but it would break his character's psychopathic personality. But at least he was able to make a friend despite his condition.
3. I also like Captain Seul, esp when she became the wild girl vs her usual timid self. I wish she stayed like that but she went back to her normal self when she recovered. Im not used to CTH having a romantic story but he and Captain was so cute together. Esp when he tried to say her name instead of Captain Seul.
4. Shin Haru's main storyline was predictable (of course we know who the bad guy is!) but it was still well written. Even the ending was neatly wrapped now. But that zombie hunting case would have been fun even for 1 extra episode!!

Dislikes
1. I think the ex wife's story was necessary. I didnt get why she had to be there other than to serve as a plot point against the love story between Detective Geum and Captain Seul.
2. The main villain at first i thought was going to be creepy but i was alittle underwhelmed by how sinister he was. I just saw him in the last episode an dhe just looked like a pathetic old man. Haru shouldnt have wasted his time on him. Although his games were interesting enough.

Rating: 8.5/10

Is it only me who enjoyed the subplot brain problems than the main plot (Shin Ha Ru’s)?

I find it super ridiculous to shut the gate of a suspicious house. Why would Captain Seul do that? I feel like they reduced her into someone dumb towards the end when we all know how badass and smart she was. Can’t she just leave it open as a clue for the subsection chief to see?

The mind games with that pyscho old man, I cannot! Shin Ha Ru walking back to the house for the 2nd time to confront him was way too much! All the more leaving that morphine shot. He could have just called the cops and surround that house and arrest him. Dying was way too nice for him.

I gotta be honest, I am not a fan of the ending. It made me feel dumb. How ironic!

One of the things I liked though is I learned new mental/brain problems and conditions that I wasn’t familiar with.

Overall, not worth a rewatch but if you need a filler drama while waiting for the ones you like, it’s a decent watch if you’re up for a good laugh.

Also main story great to specifically when emotions and pain comes to someone like Haru and make him off his real character... It was unpredictable till the end and all events were interesting.. full of thrill ، emotions, new life lessons, comic and sweetness WORTHY

excellent acting and story lines

Watched a third time and it gets better and better each time. intellectual dialogue along with fun comedic iteractions with the two main characters. The villain character is very interesting and keeps you on your toes. Ha Ru character is complex and he portrayed it very well. Love the intense anger and pain he emitted in his acting. The best part is his intellectual brain. He delivered the lines so perfectly. I throughly enjoyed the explanation on how the brain works. Smart script with funny scenes. A perfect drama. I would watch it again and again.

I quite enjoyed watching this drama! It's worth watching!
Honesty I started watching it because I love both of the 2 MLs but I really liked the story..it's a bit different form the usual police/revenge etc.
Type of dramas and I liked the comedic scenes of it..
I loved the Bromance between the 2 MLs and their chemistry. I never imagined these two in the same drama but it worked very well..
The music was also good.

There was only one thing I hated about this drama(maybe 'hated' is a bit harsh but I did hated it) and that's the Romance....if the Romance was non existent the whole drama would be SO much better ...

This is my opinion of course, nevertheless I do recommend it!

Disappointing

We watched this drama with high expectations. We were disappointed! The two main actors acted like all they cared about was wining the Best Couple Award. There were times when it did make us chuckle but in our family half bailed and said it was not worth the trouble and the rest of us were determined to finish it and were were sorry we.did. The last episode was the worse. I won't spoil it but not worth the time. There were so many positive ways it could have gone but they decided to go negative.

This is a Scooby-Doo!Can't you see it?

Once again i feel i have to defend another Drama.Yes i do this a lot!
Brain Works is a similar case to Café Minamdang.

Many people misunderstood and took this series as something different as it actually is.
I won't get tired saying"Always check the Genres and the Tags"

Why should i complain this is not a serious/heavy crime drama when it's tagged as Mystery & COMEDY?
Even by looking the poster and reading the synopsis you get the idea this is going to be a fun(and funny)watch.
"He was also once married to Kim Mo Ran. She has a particularly strong libido."I know..when i first read this i was like "Huh??wtf!"but actually i laughed and was curious to find out what this has to do with the story and why they had to mention it in the synopsis!Well now i know.It wasn't random or irrelevant!

-A short comment about the basic technicalities as this is always one of the factors for my final rate.
Here i overlooked the not so excellent Direction, the rough editing and the rather flat and dull Music which made no difference to me.My strict rate because of this would be 8 but my overall enjoyment was higher so it gets a final 9.-

I have read many found the main lead annoying and a bad person and hated this character.
Well to me he is one of the reasons i liked Brain Works .
I hate perfect and sterilized characters in Dramas.Noone has only good or bad traits. The complexity of each and every personality is what makes this boring world so interesting.
So yes,i loved our ML.He is cocky and arrogant,he is like a spoiled rich brat despite his age.Self-driven and occasionally selfish.
He is super smart and he knows it! And he brags a lot about it!Lol!
Cold hearted too,he lacks empathy. His IQ is super high but his EQ is super low.
Allow me to say that sometimes, charismatic, intelligent and sophisticated people do deserve to brag and show off their abilities.
So this is how the ML's role is written and i loved his cold attitude, instantly.

As for our 2nd ML,the Detective.Well he is indeed his polar opposite.Modest,kind,altruist.A male version of MotherTeresa!
And these two characters clicked so perfectly together and with their amazing chemistry made a heartwarming bromance.
Rest of the characters were interesting and funny too.I couldn't imagine this Drama without them.

Story & Plot:

A genius neuroscientist and a righteous detective, works together to solve criminal cases with the help of science.
More than half of the Drama is Comedy with Mystery sprinkles.
Very interesting cases. The viewer gets many information about neuroscience, how the brain works, how it affects everyone's personality. It does not dig deep into the science part-as is obviously not a Medical Drama-but is made an interesting but light watch too without been too confusing.
I also liked how they turned 2 of the characters into main cases to be solved. It was fun.

The sub plot, which is actually the main background plot,is super interesting and exciting, introducing the main Villain.
The last few episodes is a Mystery with Comedy sprinkles.More on the darker side and more gripping,as we get more of the psycho killer.
Somehow gave me "Prodigal Son" vibes and i loved it!

As the title says, this is so Scooby-Doo.You can't be confused about what are you going to watch when you choose Scooby-Doo.You know is Mystery & Comedy. So Brain Works is!

If i had to choose only one argument to persuade you to watch this,id say "The freezer/Hug & The Tango/fight scenes are to die for!You cannot miss them!"
I hope you will enjoy this as much as i did.

New Take On Kdrama

I was immediately intrigued by the poster and boy, it delivered!

If you're Kdrama fans like me, you probably have watched way too many of cliche Kdrama that sometimes, we could use a break with something different.

This show is perfect for that! It's interesting topic and new flavor to Kdrama basically.

Also, it is interesting to learn more about neuroscience (although its not entirely 100% based on facts), but its just cute little moments that made the show funny yet thrilling

Definitely love the FL here, her transformation is savage!

Give it a try, and you might just love it!

Brainless Behaviour

This drama was a constant coin toss for me, swinging between great and bad throughout, this included the story, characters, jokes, and, in particular, cases. Every case related to one or multiple subjects around neuroscience for the doctor to talk about, however, some subjects were poorly executed and questionable. These ones were totally forced and stretched thin just for the sake of including them. Other cases were actually interesting. The humor as well was a big hit or miss, especially with the male leads. The drama placed too much focus on the male leads while neglecting the remainder of the cast dynamic. On the other hand, the detective wife didn't fit quite well and it took until the last few episodes for her character to finally blend. The drama had its good moments with its witty humor but it lacked in many areas to be a solid drama.

it's fun. it's to-the-point. and a little yawning in between: but a solid 9!!

i thoroughly enjoyed the whole series, so much so that i wont like to point whatever plotholes it has. what i loved the most about it is that it highlights how the human brains work and how we can control our brains with our will. the character of Shin Ha Ru was the best, relatable on an intellect level and very practical and that of Geum Myung Se was relatable on the emotional level- though Myung Se was an over empathetic human. i loved the co-ordination between the two characters, how they balanced each other out and how the story unfolded. the chemistry between the two actors was commendable.
THE CHARACTERS:
talking about Ha Ru, i really liked it how everything around him was chaotic yet so in order. he knew how to handle himself and (the brains of) others. he is best psychopath i have come across (,,,^_^,,,). Again the best about him was how practical he was. i know some may find him as a character who can exist only in fiction, but it wasn't the case for me. especially Shin Ha Ru's initial opinion on his memory loss (distortion) was something i always wanted other characters of other dramas with a memory loss track to have; and this opinion made the character a little real to me. he said "My brain has blocked the memories that are painful to me and there's a reason to that. why would i go against my brain when i know it would hurt me?" this dialogue had me. and another admirable fact was how Ha Ru didn't give in to any manipulation whatsoever. Jung Yong Hwa did real justice to the character of Shin Ha Ru.
[this Ha Ru is my next favorite Ha Ru after Number 13 Ha Ru from Extraordinary You]
next up is Geum Myung Se. i think no one would have played that role better that Cha Tae Hyun. since i couldn't relate much to this character i cant say much about it. all in all, Myung Se's existence was of real importance for Ha Ru- he made him realise the importance/ the feeling of having a friend. the love-hate relationship they shared was so good and so funny. however, Myung Se being overly empathetic was a little over the top.

THE CASES:
the cases involved were so unique in their own ways and they had my full focus. mystery, suspense and even the drama was evenly scattered throughout. even case was like a lesson to me (even though some may not be a real lesson). i found Ha Ru a lot cooler in the second half of the story compared to the first. However, the ending seemed to be rushed. scientific in every way, while not so in the last 2 episodes to be precise, i couldn't understand the real motive of the final antagonist- what the hell he wanted to prove with harmonizing the the brain waves of two totally polar opposite people, is beyond my range of comprehension.

THE OTHER ELEMENTS:
the actors did a great job. the comic timing was perfect. there were some boring parts, but whatever it has A HANDSOME HOT PSYCHOPATHIC NEUROSCIENTIST (ufffff) and even the music was good. to those who like such science fictions and hot scientists and comedy and can sit through even the yawning parts, then please watch it. it's worth it.
