Investigative public prosecutor Chikamatsu Shigemichi is assigned to the Gifu District Public Prosecutors Office. Shortly after his assignment, a man was found stabbed to death in a wooded area of Gujo Hachiman, and a stolen old Kutani was found in the victim's log house. Inspector Samejima of the Gujo Hachiman police station investigates the case and finds out that the man has been repeatedly stealing antiques and has recently been in trouble with the antique dealer he bought them from. However, the prime suspect, an antique dealer, is found drowned in the river. The situation was thought to be suicide, but Chikamatsu can't get rid of his suspicions. Edit Translation
